Don't waste you time coming here! If you like Sonny's take the drive to Port Orange. I have live in palm Coast for 5 years now and have been to this Sonny's many times. Always some kind of drama. My latest visit was last Saturday at around 6pm. My wife ordered the Turkey sandwich and was told that they where already out of Turkey. So she ordered the Chicken Strips. I ordered the all you can eat pulled pork. Portions where small including the sides. I received only about 10 fries and they where hard and dry. After my second reorder I was told that they are running out or pulled pork. How can A BBQ The Restaurant run out of pork at 6:30. Come on guys it's BBQ .They where now telling customers at the door that they where out of several foods and was turned away. Things just got worse from there my wife's Chicken strips can out so dark and burnt that she could not eat them. The server came back with a second order saying I picked through all the strips to get you the best ones I could find. Ovately they where all deep fried at the same time and where burnt to where they look black and tasted burnt. The server tried to tell my wife Michelle that it is the seasoning they use that makes them look dark. Ok but what make them taste burnt? We never received a reorder that was not burnt and ended up taking them home for our dogs that would not eat them. My all you can eat pork ran out and we went home hungry and unhappy with this Sonny's again. Sonny's is my favorite barbecue restaurant and when I live in Port Orange We would go there twice a month. So disappointing I keep trying to go here and they just can't get it wright! I don't want a free meal just want to eat at my favorite barbecue restaurant and get a good meal and not run out of food. What is wrong here do they need new management of better kitchen staff? ...
Read moreWent here last Saturday and ended up leaving. We ordered 2 turkey big deals and when we got our food the turkey was thick and dry, the garlic bread was cold and hard. The waitress (young African-American) was rude. When I asked about having fresh turkey she left and returned to tell us that it was in the smoker and would be hours before it was finished. So my wife and I decided we would get the chicken dinner plate instead. The waitress was like I can’t give that to you. I was confused because I had already figured it would be a little extra. You could tell she was agitated which made it a unpleasant situation for us. I asked to speak to the manager. When he comes over he never once address us he just stood there looking at us. He never said his name so I asked him if he was the manager. He stated he was and I started telling him what the issue was. He told me that he couldnt say if the turkey was dry because he wasn’t eating it. I was like can you please slice it thinner and he said their slicer was broken. We then asked him if we could order the chicken dinner. The entire time I was telling him about the situation he was smiling and laughing. He was very unprofessional and to be honest, looked like he could have been one of the cooks. He lacked customer service skills. When he brought out our chicken dinners he literally shoved it into my wife’s hand while he slammed mine on the table in front of me. We decided to leave because of the way we were treated, and we were concerned what might have been done to the food. We will not be back!! We would drive all the way from Daytona to go to this particular Sonnys to be treated rudely and the food to be so poor....

The day my family went (early afternoon on a Friday), they seemed a bit short-staffed, as it seemed to take several minutes to seat us and the person before us.
They led us into a large dining hall with ample seating and soon after would take our order. We ordered loaded tots, a pulled pork sandwich, BBQ cobb salad, kid's mac and cheese and "Pick of the Pit Combo" w/ three meats: wings, St Louis Ribs and jalapeño cheddar sausage. Also, a side of cornbread and soft drinks.
Everything we had is recommended.
The tots were crispy, had a nice cream sauce on top and underneath it all was some brisket.
My Pit Combo was very good. The wings had a slight char on the outside and the ribs were meaty and succulent. However, the jalapeño cheddar sausage (which, interestingly came pre-sliced) didn't have as much kick as I liked. The meal's side of beans and cole slaw were average. Next time, maybe I'll try the potato salad though.
I tried my wife's cobb salad and I liked it a lot.
the corn bread (in muffin form) was a little chewy and was served with pre-packaged "spread" instead of real butter. I hate that stuff.
Regarding service, once we were seated, we were attended to well and checked upon regularly. Our server was very nice and patient.
The environs were bright and clean and there was plenty of tables. Rolls of brown paper towels at each table were appreciated.
All in all, it's a good place to get some barbecue! Do visit when you're...
