El Toreo East — Restaurant in Palmdale

We ate lunch there on a weekday. There was no wait, business was slow. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and looks clean. The food is good but I think it could use more spice. If you like heat you would definitely need hot sauce. The portions are large and the prices are comparable to other Mexican restaurants. I ordered the Chile Relleno with beans and rice, others ordered a burrito and the hard shell taco platter. All dishes tasted good but more like American Mexican food, not authentic Mexican. I really enjoyed their deep fried ice cream. The ice cream was frozen hard with a crispy shell, they get 5 stars for their deep fried ice cream. This place was horrible I don't know who rates it top restaurant. I had to wait a hour for food, when they bought it it was cold I sent it back had to wait another 30 min told them specifically how I wanted it...I was not seated I walked in he goes pick anywhere I'll be there in a minute I felt that was rude!! I tell u no lie and this may be gross but I had to run to the bathroom and I was throwing up and diarrhea at the same time!! Palmdale is all strip malls and chains so my expectations were a bit low. This place worked well for a business dinner. The veggie fajitas were surprisingly filling, with a big variety of veggies and potatoes plus a cheese-stuffed chili relleno; huge portion. The salsa is excellent, authentic. Great corn tortillas, not dried out.The food is ok.....the salsa is better! I think the restaurant is a little dirty and very dated. I think they need to invest in the decor at lease some! The food came out good, but not delicious. I'm not sure if I'll go back. It's just so ran down. Hard to focus on anything else. ...
