Love to try new eateries and especially fond of new bakeries. We've driven hours just to try different places we've read about on social media or heard about through foodie friends. So when we heard Lekker Coffee and Baking Co. opened a brick and mortar, we just had to try it out.
One thing to note is that the onsite bakery is still under construction as of June 2025 so the baked goods aren't made there onsite just yet, but actually nearby at Turkey Red. Was hoping to get that freshly baked baked-goods smell when we stepped in the door but unfortunately it wasn't there but will be some day soon.
We ordered a couple of coffees and an assortment of baked goods. The coffee was very good. I tried the house made vanilla flavor which was delicious. We also ordered some tarts and a piece of cake which we were told was pistachio flavor, We quite honestly didn't taste the pistachio and I'd say the cake was just okay.
Also our bakery items were served on saucers, not plates, which was a little odd but the place was busy so maybe they'd just not gotten caught up on the dirty dishes yet? I've seen pictures posted by other reviewers showing their baked goods on plates so I assume they have them. Not sure but the saucer presentation was a little strange and my cake ended up sliding off the side of the glazed saucer onto the counter when I first attempted to pick it up. Used the 5 second rule, picked it up, and made sure to keep a hold of it so it wouldn't slide off the saucer again as I made my way to our table.
Overall we had a 4-star experience at what's sure to be a 5-star establishment once the bakery construction is complete and they're baking onsite. We'll definitely return once the bakery...
Read moreThe building is new and airy feeling. My husband and I went in to grab me a coffee, specifically, an Americano. Way too much hot water and not enough expresso. I should have said something, but the attitude of the staff was dismissive.Another customer came with her elderly parents and there were no knives , barista went back, grab a couple and never took them to the table. What about just being a human? Did not get pastry, nothing looked freshly made. I think I was looking for a place that smelled liked freshly made baked goods and coffee, neither of those were available today. So much for community and coffee. From Fairbanks and the one thing I can get there is a...
