I went today March 7 2020 with my mom whom uses a cane can hardly stand for a long time. My review was the food is not bad at all my critic-- I ordered BBQ shedded sandwich and they brought me the dish with toasted bread and just some BBQ on top. BBQ shredded pork should be mixed up with the pork I had to ask for more BBQ and mix it up myself and bread not toasted. My mom midnight sandwich was not the proper bread for midnight sandwich although food is good . The onions were good not greasy . Reason this place does not call my name to go back --the LOCATION was not easy to find---- The place was very small where the first 3 tables had to endure people standing awaiting for seatingin which it happened to me, where people were standing beside me. It is very uncomfortable feeling having someone hoovering over you and their back part is right near your face. My mother cannot stand for long, there was no where to sit down and wait only a chair outside. For someone who is handicapped or not able to stand long for whatever reason, or disability they need to make or put a bench. A waiting area for people to sit rather than stand and hoover over people. Due to these criterias, neither I nor my mother were comfortable. If a restaurant rather small or large, they cater to the entire public, oh plus I asked for american coffee, I was told they do not serve it. I advised the waitress it says almerican coffee on the menu, she went back to find out and her answer was the coffee machine is broken,--this is negative after negative experiences we encountered ---a restaurant or fast food would want the public to feel comfortableso they will continue to come back to eat . For these several reasons that both of us experienced we would not want to come back. If any restaurant or fast food place serves to the public they need to make their customers feel comfortable at the same time. I need my space when I eat. I do not like people standing beside awaiting seating. Most places have a area for the people to sit and await their turn to eat. This place does not have it . No matter how good a food place may be . If I cannot feel comfortable I do not want to go back. I hope the owner finds a better location for the public and finds a place where the customers whom await seating will have a place to sit and wait rather than hoover over people eating, especially for the disabled and handicapped. The place is more like a bar setting than a family setting. I heard they been there 5 years and in the 5 years they have not attempted to make the place better nor area for people to wait. Two little chairs outside and its in a WAREHOUSE. Very uncomfortable. I feel sorry for those that are elderly or with some type of disability and the customers that have to endure people standing beside them eating. NOT COOL --NOT COOL AT ALL. In 5 YEARS if I was the owner I would have made some type of attempt to better the...
Read moreStumbling upon Hate Mondays Tavern in Miami was like discovering a secret backyard barbecue where every bite tells a story. This unassuming gem, tucked away in Kendall, has rightfully earned its spot among America's top barbecue joints, even gracing Yelp's Top 100 BBQ Spots of 2024. And now, they've added another major win to their name--taking home the People's Choice Award at Zoo Miami's Feast with the Beasts. That's not just local love; that's proof that Karl Hayden and his team are redefining Miami barbecue.
The moment you step inside, you're wrapped in an ambiance that's both raw and inviting--think Florida Keys meets smokehouse, with dollar bills covering the ceiling like a guestbook of satisfied eaters. But what truly makes this place unforgettable? The people. Lulu, hands down, is the kind of server every restaurant dreams of having. She knows the menu inside out, recommends exactly what you need to try, and makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
And then there's Karl Hayden, aka "El Bearded Chef", a man who took his passion for grilling and turned it into a full-blown movement. After two decades in retail, he built Hate Mondays Tavern from the ground up, transforming a struggling cafeteria into a temple of smoked meat and Southern hospitality. Karl isn't just serving food--he's a pillar in the community, pushing Miami's barbecue scene to new heights while making sure every guest feels like family.
Now, let's talk about the real reason you need to get here--the food. The Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich? A work of art. Smoked to perfection, kissed with just the right amount of tangy slaw, and served on buttery Texas toast that soaks up every last bit of goodness. The Mondays Remedy Burger--an award-winning masterpiece that combines a juicy patty with smoked pork belly, homemade cheese sauce, and caramelized onions. It's indulgent in the best possible way. If you time it right, you might catch the legendary brisket, smoked for 16 hours and only available on Fridays. Yes, it's worth rearranging your week for. And for a wildcard pick? The Philly Steak & Chicken Sandwich--because Karl doesn't just do BBQ, he perfects everything he touches.
Hate Mondays Tavern isn't just a spot for incredible barbecue--it's a Miami institution in the making. Whether you're here for the award-winning eats, the warmest service in town, or just a damn good meal, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. If Miami had a BBQ Hall of Fame, Hate Mondays Tavern would be...

Stopped by for the 1st time and was pleasantly surpised when I was greeted by the delicious aromatics coming off the smoker before I even made it to the entrance.
The vibe is carefully crafted with rebel decor to create a cozy, yet badass, ambiance. And the staff are incredibly welcoming, which made our time even more enjoyable. Special shoutout to Lourdes who walked us through the whole experience, helped us order and made us feel right at home.
We definitely wanted to try the brisket and with so many variations of how to order it, we struggled to pick just one! We ended up ordering Brisket + Eggs with houae potatoes and bread of choice (I got Cuban Bread and my husband picked Texas Toast)
The Brisket was so juicy and buttery soft with the perfect ratio of meat to fat and a deliciously charred bark. It isnt overwhelmingly seasoned so your have the flexibility to augment the flavor with sauces of your choice. My husband asked for hotsauce and, while I have no idea whats in it, it was the perfect compliment to the Brisket, I've honestly never tasted anything like it! Another major plus for me was the fact that theyre serving REAL eggs, not that liquid in a carton fake stuff. The house potatoes were immaculate, tiny chucks packed with flavor and so soft they feel like mashed potatoes in your mouth.
I asked Lourdes to help me select a beer and we agreed on Narragansett. I dont know too much about beers but she described it as a craft version of Yuengling. I really enjoyed it and the effects definitely crept up on me.
Overall, and incredible and memeorable experience ✨️ I enjoyed this place way more than Apocalypse BBQ. I recommend everyone show this...
