I am hopeful that the cardboard being passed off as pizza will stop being sold soon as this restaurant needs to be closed and replaced with something that serves edible food. Anyone that has ever traveled to NYC or Chicago would laugh at what is trying to be passed off as pizza. The only positive was that the servers were warm and attentive. Hopefully this restaurant will close and be replaced with something where these servers can use their talents and earn better tips because the food they would be serving would be fit for human consumption.
To respond to the Owner. Was definitely a guest, otherwise why in the world would I write something. While I did not insult you personally you chose to insult me. It’s not my fault the food wasn’t very good. I didn’t cook it nor write the recipe. Perhaps you need some self reflection. As a leader of a business if your goal is to insult people that didn’t have a good experience in your establishment, perhaps my prior thoughts will come to fruition sooner rather than later. Something more constructive for you, the tomato sauce you choose to use on the margherita pizza is more of a cousin of ketchup, I would guess that it is store bought and not homemade. You should seriously consider making your own sauce as that will make the pizza exponentially better. My exceptionally large party ordered at least 8 pizzas and all of them were over cooked, with burnt cheese. (I wish I took photos but unfortunately I did not) That is easily corrected by having your line cook prepare it properly. Also the dough tasted as if it was frozen store bought product then thawed and used at the proper time, again consider making your own dough in house it would increase the quality of your product. I’m happy we can agree on your staff. They really did do a good job. Let’s please leave it there.
Sorry last thing I was told you also own the ice cream parlor next door. That place was amazing. Whatever you are doing there...
Read moreIn red been trying to visit Maxwells for over a year! I finally made it there for lunch today. If you want to go for dinner, GOOD LUCK! The reason I give 4 stars is because of the seating system. They have no host/hostess. If you come in and there’s no tables, you just have to stand around and wait for one to open. Then you have to jump in it before anyone else gets it! And you have to clean it yourself. There’s no wait staff. Only cooks/cashier/bartender. So, every time I’ve gone, there’s been a wait. The parking is horrible. Super small parking lot for 4 businesses. IF you get a parking spot, getting a table is a whole other mission! We walked in, walked around, saw some people getting ready to leave, and then someone else swooped in and took the table. We’re not going to fight someone for a table. So we left. Today, going for lunch, on a weekday, was the way to go.
We ordered a “PBAY special pizza”, a “fungus among us”, and a chopped pepperoni pizza. All of the pizzas were really good! I also ordered the goat cheese salad. It was amazing! Super yummy! The “fungus among us” was absolutely delicious! One of my favorite pizzas ever!
They have a lot of outdoor seating. It was hot out, but not too bad with their big fans. They also added shades to the outdoor seating. The outdoor chairs and sofas are comfy. The chairs inside, not so much.
The prices are reasonable. For our 3 pizzas and the salad it was $58 before tip. Not much to tip for if you’re going to the counter to order, and again to pick up the food, and then taking it home to eat.
I didn’t get any pictures, but I’m sure we’ll be back again and I’ll probably order the fungus pizza and goat cheese salad again because...
Read moreNice open place, seating was not so crowded that anyone felt someone else was sitting on top of them. That was nice.
Nice outdoor area with seating.
This is a "no servers, order through an order taker at the counter, get your own food, get your own utensils" kind of place. Not expecting this for the price.
Live music. Nice touch for a local place.
Pizza was so so. Not sure I'd get the same again. Here's a few pros (+) and cons (-)...
pizza was not soggy. That's good!
Salad was great. Salad dressing was "soy vinegar" or something like that. Was unusual but good.
pizza didn't seem to have much taste
not much cheese. Not much sauce. What was there lacked much taste.
was not hot, was kind of room temperature. Think this might have been because there was not much cheese on it.
kind of expensive for a small 12 inch pizza. (Fifteen dollars after tax just for the pizza, not including anything else). Total price for a garden salad and a small 12 inch pizza including tax and tip without drinks is about $30. And this is self serve.
Really liked the ambiance.
Would consider going back for something other than pizza.
Of note, this is a "no masking for anyone" establishment. No order takers...
