Quite possibly the blandest food I have ever eaten. Ordered a burrito ultimo with carnitas, and I can only assume that they ran out of salt when cooking the meat and veg; there wasn't a hint of seasoning in any of the ingredients. Thankfully, I grabbed some sauces on the way out, but they still don't make up for the lack of flavor.
The guys working the counter and kitchen were very polite, professional, and helpful. Good guys.
The first thing that hits you when you walk in the door is the overpowering smell of musty basement. Not sure what that's about. The kitchen and bathrooms probably just need a REALLY deep cleaning. I suspect years' worth of accumulated oil, food scraps, and stagnant water in, under, and around the cooking surfaces is responsible for the off-putting aroma, along with poorly maintained restrooms.
I've been to this location twice, and each time, it was just myself and only 1 other party dining at the same time. I've never seen a doordash, ubereats, or grubhub driver there. They appear to get very little business from what I have seen. Almost feels like walking into Satriale's Any Size Suckling Pig, except they appeared to actually get regular business in addition to being a mobster hangout.
There are better burritos literally ANYWHERE else...
Read moreI have always liked Baja Fresh. At this location I orderd a Baja burrito which I was looking forward to. When I went to eat my burrito I saw that it was not Baja Burrito but a Ultimo Burrito. Simple mistake. But when I went to the counter and expained I recieved the wtong burrito the employee insisted that I ordered the Ultimo burrito. When I reassured her that I did not, she rolled her eyes at me, turned and aggressively threw the burrito in the trash. At that time I requested a refund since I was not going to trust this angry employee to prepare my food.
Word of advice, when a customer says they recieved the wrong order, dont argue with them. Just smile and say "Im sorry about that sir, we will correct your order right away." The customer isnt always right, but the way employees respond to...
Read moreThis used to be our go to Baja Fresh... Wow! What happened? Granted that it was a bit late. But, the portion (overall size and meat portion) of our burrito decrease. And, the salsa station was poorly stocked. Especially bad was the yellow pepper where 10 or so were swimming in "cloudy" pickling juice. Total turnoff. Worse was the papaya salsa... Barely there papaya and other vegetables swimming in very watery sauce... Will now go only to real mexican restaurants...
Previous review Among a few Baja Freshes I've been to, this particular one in Palo Alto is better than others - typically clean and well stacked salsa ststion, good courteous service, fast, consistent, and good portion on both the burrito and the chips. In fact, the portion is big enough for two people...
