If you're looking for food late at night and want something better than Jack in the Box, this is the place for you. I'm not kidding when I say this, L&L is the ONLY other place to get food in Palo Alto after midnight. I got the katsu curry. The curry was mediocre at best and the katsu was strangely thin, but nevertheless it was hot and the katsu was surprisingly plentiful for the price. I am used to the original Japanese Katsu formulation, so it is possible the Hawaiian variant uses thin ham instead of thicker cutlets. The curry, however, tasted like whoever made it didn't really care. The rice also was bleh, with a strange acidity and sogginess also like whoever made it didn't really care. Why 5 stars then? I really want this place to stay open, because even if the food isn't great its a league above Jack in the Box's offerings and not backed by a huge corporation, and for that I...
Read moreJust got off the phone with the manager "John" I have a big event where I need 400 plates of the BBQ mix and I received this restaurant as a reference to cater the event. I called and a lady with a heavy accent answered, I mentioned that I needed 400 plates of the BBQ mix and she sound very unprofessional, I know professionalism because I called 3 other Hawaiian BBQ restaurants and they seemed to care a lot about the potential business they would receive. The lady gave me the price for the 400 plates then told me there is no discount but instead there is a 10% charge for service. She handed John, who confirmed he himself was the manager, the phone and the answer he gave to all my questions was "yep". I'm almost sure they probably don't need $5000 because they are open 24 hours but the way it was handled over the phone was...
Read moreThe food is amazing! Chicken katsu with hoisin sauce? Yes this place have it. If you come here when the cashier is a Vietnamese woman, it will be an excellent experience. However, if it is a dark skin Asian man, get ready to have the worst kind of customer service. Imagine getting refused an order just because the cook is in the middle of cleaning the oil vat. A proper business would have cleaned it before starting. Also, how careless can you be to lose your restroom keys? Just keep it unlocked and this won't be a problem at all. If you cannot even be responsible for a small piece of metal, why even be running a business? Food is already expensive af, why not improve on your customer service and be a better manager? I won't be surprised if they are also losing money like the previous Hawaiian BBQ...
