If you're looking for food late at night and want something better than Jack in the Box, this is the place for you. I'm not kidding when I say this, L&L is the ONLY other place to get food in Palo Alto after midnight. I got the katsu curry. The curry was mediocre at best and the katsu was strangely thin, but nevertheless it was hot and the katsu was surprisingly plentiful for the price. I am used to the original Japanese Katsu formulation, so it is possible the Hawaiian variant uses thin ham instead of thicker cutlets. The curry, however, tasted like whoever made it didn't really care. The rice also was bleh, with a strange acidity and sogginess also like whoever made it didn't really care. Why 5 stars then? I really want this place to stay open, because even if the food isn't great its a league above Jack in the Box's offerings and not backed by a huge corporation, and for that I...

Just got off the phone with the manager "John" I have a big event where I need 400 plates of the BBQ mix and I received this restaurant as a reference to cater the event. I called and a lady with a heavy accent answered, I mentioned that I needed 400 plates of the BBQ mix and she sound very unprofessional, I know professionalism because I called 3 other Hawaiian BBQ restaurants and they seemed to care a lot about the potential business they would receive. The lady gave me the price for the 400 plates then told me there is no discount but instead there is a 10% charge for service. She handed John, who confirmed he himself was the manager, the phone and the answer he gave to all my questions was "yep". I'm almost sure they probably don't need $5000 because they are open 24 hours but the way it was handled over the phone was...

The food is amazing! Chicken katsu with hoisin sauce? Yes this place have it. If you come here when the cashier is a Vietnamese woman, it will be an excellent experience. However, if it is a dark skin Asian man, get ready to have the worst kind of customer service. Imagine getting refused an order just because the cook is in the middle of cleaning the oil vat. A proper business would have cleaned it before starting. Also, how careless can you be to lose your restroom keys? Just keep it unlocked and this won't be a problem at all. If you cannot even be responsible for a small piece of metal, why even be running a business? Food is already expensive af, why not improve on your customer service and be a better manager? I won't be surprised if they are also losing money like the previous Hawaiian BBQ...

When you come here, come prepared by knowing what you want to order. I say this because when I asked the cashier questions about the menu, she wasn't helpful. So, I ended up ordering the fried chicken wings with sides of macaroni salad and steamed rice. The total was $25 and change. This included a gatorade. Fried chicken definitely has more flavor than Vons, which I was extremely pleased with. Mac salad was good, and the steamed rice was also good. As far as ambiance, this place doesn't particularly have a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to dine in. There were a few guys just sitting and hanging out that played a big part in that.

Not impressed. Beef in Moco Loco was cooked beyond well done. Might as well have been dried cardboard or the cakes in a urinal. Rice didn’t seem fresh, seemed stale, old. Only one container of gravy which was not nearly enough to hydrate the dried out rice or restore the texture to the urinal cakes or dried cardboard they called hamburger patties. Egg rolls were also well done, very oily. After spending $42.05 for delivery via PostMates for this substandard dish, I will definitely not be back as a repeat customer.

I tried the BBQ chicken plate and really enjoyed it. The sauce was flavorful and just the right balance of sweet and savory, and the chicken itself was super tender. Underneath the chicken, they had some sautéed veggies, which added a nice touch. The macaroni salad on the side was also tasty and creamy. It’s nothing flashy or unique, just a classic BBQ chicken plate, but it’s done really well and hits the spot. Definitely one of those solid, go-to meals you can count on.
