For a pizza location, this business definitely ranks squarely in the middle. The pizza taste is comparable to some similar local pizza restaurants, but lacks in comparable crust and sauce flavoring. The crust tended to be a bit dry and grainy while the pizza itself was quite oily. The sauce did not have a distinct taste on any of the slices that we tried. This could, however, be because the pizzas were sitting out cold in the display case and they reheat your slice for you when you order in a single slice. Potentially ordering a full pizza or pizza to go might fix this issue for a tastier slice. However, the garlic knots were really tasty and quite large for garlic knots (perhaps more smaller ones per portion might be better?). The unique soda fountain flavors were fun to try and something that sets this location apart from similar pizza locations in the same area. That all being said, the food was on the more expensive side as compared to other locations with slice sizes not scaling comparably. The inside was not that clean with old plates, napkins, and oil on tables.

My wife and I came here at about 5:00 PM on a Sunday for some takeout of pizza by slice. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely, and it seems like a great place to eat outside or stop in for a quick slice. Seeing that they had chili crisp on the table was such a great touch! We order a square slice of the Frankie G and one triangle slice each of: Plain Ol' Cheese, Shrooms, Green Stuff, Heirloom Goat, and Heat and Sweet. Cheese pizza was great, straight down the middle slice. Shrooms pizza was good, would have liked some bigger mushroom pieces. Green Stuff and Heat and Sweet both had great flavor. Heirloom Goat was a great pizza, very fresh and salty without being heavy. But the winner easily was Frankie G, I got to try some but I was so mad that my wife chose that instead of me. The pepperoni was crispy, the ricotta was creamy and mild, the crust had a great crunch to it. If we come back we're getting a full pie of that! TL;DR Great, clean casual entry to get some delicious pizza, highly recommend the square Frankie G

A restaurant with 4.8 stars on google? Its my mission to try every restaurant with more than 4.5 stars as long as they aren't fake reviews. I came to State of Mind and had an epiphany. Pizza should be enjoyed by the slice. Never buy a whole pie. Each slice is creative, hot and fresh. The slices are about $5-7 each. They have the most interesting toppings. I can't remember the name of what I got, but the one with "micro greens" on it was fun to eat. They are like Pokemon, you have to try something different each time you go. 6 stars to d'Sean. We literally took 5 minutes asking about each pizza they offered. He happily explained it. He loves his work and it made the whole experience so much better. If there was a ding, it was that their specialty branded soda was a bit flat and that they need some more shade for the outside seating. There are no table clothes or waiters. But the truth is that you won't care about that. You'll only be thinking about what slice you are going to get next time.

Really mixed feelings about this place. I've been a few times to order full pies, and while the flavors/topping variety of the pizza is excellent, the temperature of the pizza and reliability of service is really inconsistent.

First time I came here, I got my pizza pretty quickly, it came out hot, and I thought I had found my new favorite pizza place.

Second time, I ordered ahead and the estimated wait was pretty far out, like 50min. I got to the store and they quoted me the same amount of time roughly. That's fine, I sat down at the table right across from the counter and waited for them to call my name. 40min go by and they haven't called my name. Finally I get up to ask them about my order and they tell me it's been done a while - I get it and it's completely cold. Despite sitting 10 feet in front of them, none of the employees remembered me, called my name, or wondered why a customer was sitting there for so long without food. Not a good service experience. I complained and they did refund the order, which I appreciated, so I decided I'd be back to give them another chance.

Recently I come back and again I've ordered online, with a ~50min quoted wait time. I get to the store and they quote me the same time. Again that's fine, so I sit down to wait, after asking them to let me know when it's done. About 5min before the time I check with them just to be safe, they tell me it's just being finished up and they'll bring it out. Immediately after they bring it out, we sit down to eat, and again the food is not hot. One pizza is kind of warm, the other pizza is cold. I don't know how that happens when I'm sitting right there and I eat it immediately; I guess it sat out waiting for toppings after it came out of the oven?

This place charges $36 for a pizza, takes close to an hour to make a couple pies, then the food somehow comes out cold. The service seems disheveled and consists mostly of teenagers, that while polite, don't seem to be very organized. Sad to say I won't be back to this place that I thought was my new...

This looks to be a new restaurant in the area. They make NY style pizzas and pan pizzas and also offer gluten free crust as well as salads. They also seem to have rotating specials with a vegetarian and meat based options as well as a salad. Decided to give it a try and ordered a vegan pizza online after confirming their crust and pizza sauce is vegan. The GF dough is not vegan.

Got a pan pizza half and half. It is supposed to be 12 " x 18" in size. Ordered half Chorizo con papa without the meat and dairy and the vegetarian special Melanzana again without the cheese. The instructions did go through correctly perhaps and when I went to pickup, the melanza half did have cheese on it. So made a new one for me.

The crust for pan pizza is on the thicker side and chewy and had been cut into 6 pieces. I like the Melanzana half a lot but wasn't a fan of the other half. I expected the potato to be in the form of thin slices, which is how I have usually seen at any other pizza place which uses potato as a topping, rather than big pieces similar to what you get in a breakfast potato hash dish. The total came to $35 before tax and tip and feel its a bit pricey for a pizza.

They have outdoor and indoor dining option. They also have most of their pizzas available by the slice, in the store but none of them would be vegan. Would probably try again if it was priced a...

i've always wanted to try square pizza and am so glad i did at state of mind slice house!

// ambiance // located off el camino in palo alto--i've driven by here so many times but never noticed it. there is a small parking lot. they have both outdoor and indoor seating.

// service // there are a few menus to look at on the counter when ordering. we came around 8pm and saw limited pizzas in the display case, but the employee said we could still order any slice and it would come out in around 10 minutes.

// insomniac square slice ($6.25) // classic pizza with pepperoni and sausage. i got the square slice and was glad because it was so crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle. the slice came out warm and tasted fresh. i think the triangle slices are a lot thinner crust with a thick crust at the edge.

these slices are also huge and very filling. i only ordered one slice since i was getting dessert after and it was enough. if you are hungry, i imagine two slices is enough too.

// would i reorder/return? // i would come back when im craving a big, satisfying slice of pizza. who can beat a $6 dinner in...
