Denny's — Restaurant in Palos Township

So, this has been my favorite dennys in the area, nearest one that is 24hrs for me. It's been mine, and my cousins go-to after a night out in the city. And it never disappoints. But, we went Monday night (July 1st) and we were grossed out.

Everything was alright when walking in, and it's a great place. Especially because it was recently remodeled. It's why we often went there, and me and my cousin leave good reviews at the place all the time. But that changed this Monday.

When we walked in, it was around 11:30pm, it wasn't busy - just a few people around in the booths. We asked for a booth for three people (me, my cousin and her bf). We were immediately sat down. The waitress was really nice. She informed us right away that the fountain drink machine is down, due to no carbonation. Which was perfectly okay, we didn't mind. We ordered water and tea.

We ordered right away, as we already have our go to orders. The wait wasn't long, we had our food within 10 minutes. She refilled our drinks, gave us napkins and such. Great service from her!

We were halfway done with our meals, and we were sitting there talking about a concert we just went to. My cousin then pointed put something crawling on the wall where the booth sat along. And for reference, we were sitting at the booth directly next to the kitchen at the back corner. Where the waiters walk in and out of the kitchen. The coffee pot was right behind us.

When I looked, I didn't see anything. She thought she might of just mistaken it for something, but nope- a few seconds later we saw it crawl back over the edge. It was an adult roach. It was crawling up and down the ledge and over the metal gate/fence/border- it was disgusting. And we were honestly disgusted. We didn't even finish our food. And we definitely didn't ask for a to go box.

Again, I hate to put this review up. I don't even like putting up bad reviews when the service isn't great because again, it's our spot to go after a night out. We always come around or after midnight. I understand if the service isn't too great, people just want to go home.

But this was honestly disgusting. We couldn't take a video or picture as our phones were low on battery. And I even tried too but again, it was running up and down the ledge basically behind where the service station is.

When we got to our car we were just sitting there disgusted. We figured then figured that maybe the soda machine was down to the bugs possibly, but we can't say.

We only spotted the one, and as they say. If there's one, there's more. It was an adult already too. So, of course, we won't be going there for a long while. Hopefully this is taken...

All I can say is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I understand it’s “just dennys”, but a lot of people come out with family hoping for a great time. Today was NOT of one those days. We were seated & all I can hear is the workers gossiping and laughing making fun of each other in my ear. Mind you the whole entire crew is a bunch of kids , possible 18-21 ? Don’t get me wrong I know a lot of people around those ages BUT are actually good workers . Wish I could say the same, both managers were very young & sitting on their phones . I asked to speak to a manager & “fabio”? Comes from sitting down on his phone with his hoodie up. When speaking to the “manager” the whole crew of girls came next to him just to hear our conversation. Just nosey . It was very busy and nobody was doing anything besides talking loudly and ruining our meal . ALL of the workers were flirting with each other and the girls were calling each other stinky and trying to be flirty with the males . There is a time and place for that kind of behavior. The manager did not care one but & frankly I’m not sure why he was made a manager because he acted more like a child with the rest of the crew . The whole place just seemed like high school all over again . It has nothing to do with the ages of the employees but the work ethic which was VERY POOR . I remember coming here about 4-5 months ago and the ladies working were so nice and attentive, no loud gossiping or playing around in the kitchen . The whole crew has got to go… on the other note the server we had “Ernesto” was fast and good so that’s really the only reason why I even gave you all a star . I have been a citizen of Palos Hills for 80%% of my life And that Dennys in Hickory Hills is literally horrific. It has changed so much within the years and not for the good The food got cheaper in quality

I ordered the strawberry crepes/// came with eggs, bacon and hash browns

The eggs looked like piss colored molded clay The bacon look malnourished and just sad Very sad bacon And there was HAIR IN MY CREPES ON TOP OF THAT : I asked for it to be return

(My waitress was a nice young man// wasn’t his fault But it also seemed like there was no training We got no napkins no silverware

I had to get up and had to get napkins) I took it a step further & got the attention of the owner/ that bald rusty looking man Kindly informed him about the hair and suggested he’d check on his kitchen and make sure they’re being safe/ make sure everything under control and Also to make sure they’re wearing hairnets

He said “no hair nets// just hats”

(FROM THE GOOGLE REVIEWS I SEE HAIR GETS IN THE FOOD A LOT YOUD THINK THEY WOULD OF CHANGED SOMETHING )

Anways after I remembered him that this isn’t okay and I shouldn’t have food in my hair his responde with “its Normal”, & walked away.

No apologize// didn’t offer any compensation? Biscuits and gravy was goopy with sausage chunks

So I literally walked out didn’t pay anything. Because I was not going to eat any of that
