Great American Bagel — Restaurant in Palos Township

First of all I worked here a long time ago when I was a kid and Chuck was the owner there it was a lot different back then and a more friendly atmosphere . Now the owner doesn’t take responsibility when her workers make a mistake and go in the best interest of the customer. I have a son with allergies and I counted the bagels and it ended up being 11 instead of the 13 on the bakers dozen. The owner didn’t believe me and the girl working there literally dumped all the bagels out on a contaminated space to count them which I was correct that they shorted me two bagels. Not an apology and not even a care that I have a child with dairy allergy and she just dumped them all out which I clearly stated so my child could not even eat any of the bagels. Secondly, my mom came in for four bagels they charged her for half a dozen. Again not an apology for the mistake but I am short staffed not my problem here and the girl working there must have been having a bad day. When you are stealing peoples money and not giving them what they ordered that is a big offense and people should know this. The owner only cares that people are coming in and out of her store but doesn’t appreciate the customers at all. Went in and walked out without buying anything this time thanks to the attitude from the employee. I have ate there a couple times and the bagels are decent, good but expensive. I was wanting a turkey bagel so I went in. I dirk see the order here sign so when I asked where to order she pointed at the sign and says right here with a attitude. I then ask if they have anything with just turkey cheese and lettuce she tell me “right there” pointing at the sign. The sign said turkey, roast beef, and s couple other meats seprsted by commons, no where did it say pick one so per the sign in assuming all those are on this $10 bagel. I told her “Oh, I thought all that was on the sandwich that’s why I didn’t order it” she tell me “yea no that’s what all those commas are for” like if I’m stupid or something. They messed up my bagel order. Never apologize actually became very confrontational And wanted to charge me the The difference even though I drove home and had to come back for a corrected order. They stated To me " wasn't the order repeated to you" numerous times, I was begging for them to simply just correct my order and give me the correct bagel but she proceeded to argue with me in front of all the customers.
