Other than this place being a little crowded when it comes to seating arrangements, I have zero complaints. The food was fresh and tasteful, the employees were no-nonsense & easygoing, ambiance was refreshing & intimate and overall this place was a wonderful experience. We visited Mizu for the first time on a Saturday night, for our anniversary. We arrived ~6p and it was already a bit crowded. No bother, but the way the tables are situated here, it's a bit overwhelming. We luckily had no wait and we were seated promptly. Tables so close together, it feels like a table of two is dining with the table of two next door. That's how close the tables are. I wasn't a huge fan of this, but after while I relaxed and was able to enjoy my dinner. Mizu has both a regular menu and an all-you-can-eat option. We opted for the all-you-can-eat menu and we're pleasantly surprised the waitstaff actually wrote our order down versus us plugging numbers down on paper ourselves. They also pace the meal well, giving the opportunity to only order 2-3 rolls at a time. This is helpful to control overeating and waste, in my opinion. The maki sushi rolls are made fresh and TASTE fresh. The Philadelphia Roll was to die for and the Honey Roll was a new experience worth trying. The other awesome part of their all-you-can-eat menu is they DO OFFER SASHIMI! My husband was ecstatic when he saw this. They aren't skimpy with the sashimi, either. They give very nice size portions! Overall, this is a new favorite which we will definitely go back to in the future. Highly recommend!

So tried this place on a Sunday, and was pleasantly surprised AYCE was on weekends, however the place was EMPTY so I was a bit worried. Lets talk about the food first: the menu was pretty good, I liked how they broke out the rolls between cooked, deep fried, and raw. Appetizers, salads, sushi AND sashimi!(you are allowed 4 peices per roll!) I ordered a few of the raw ones and they tasted good, also ordered smoked salmon and plain salmon sashimi and man they are thick! The fried rolls are HUGE as a warning. Its like 2 or 3 rolls worth round. Alot of the rolls include mango and apple which was really nice. On to the service: this is were it starts to go downhill. They got us setup with drink and our order( they even rushed my friends ordering, because they were "so busy" (they had maybe 2 tables). After we got our food, we ran out of our drinks and the bus boy kept asking if we wanted more water, and we never saw our server again. We asked to see or server and the bus boy said he'd take our order still didn't offer to refill our drinks. The last 2 rolls i ordered one way cherry blossom and other was warmth, tasted very fishy so i was a bit worried. We finally got to see our server when it was time for the check! The last thing to note is they charge 2$ for soy paper instead of seaweed! That's double pretty much everywhere, and when you bring your family and order 10 rolls 20$ becomes pretty steep for something that costs 5$ for a whole package. 3/5 fix the service and be reasonable on soy paper, not everyone likes seaweed.

Went w friends after bike ride so we were hungry. Cooked food was good - fried scallops, chicken cutlets, fries shumai. Sushi was mediocre. Sashimi were paper thin. Rolls were ok- if you prefer slightly hard rice. Here's some catches about All You Can Eat in their menu. You can only have 4 sashimi pieces for every roll. So if you get 2 rolls, then you can get 8 paper thin pieces of sashimi. Another catch - you can only have 1 dessert piece. So you can have 1 mochi, 1 cheese cake slice, or 1 cracker something. That is not the definition of All you can eat. Service was ok. The place is clean w lots of parking. Heres a BIG catch - they include thr TIP in the bill. I understand if its a big party- but it was 3 of us. We paid the bill and added the tip. We realized later what happened. I guess I would go back in a pinch if friends wanted to go. Would I recommend the place? Ahh, No. I like trying sushi places and will move on.

This is the second time we’ve been to Mizu. Today was a lot busier than the first time we went and I have a story for you my friends. We got there around 8pm and it’s VERY busy but we wanted sushi and it’s good stuff from here. Hostess gives us the all you can eat menu while we’re waiting and told us to fill it out and my husband gave it back (super weird, what if we decided not to eat there? Would they have prepared our food for us and thrown it out since we had left?) we waited for maybe 20/25mins and we were seated. Right away we were given the sushi we were ordered, like I mean right away since we ordered before we even sat down technically. We finished our rolls and wanted to order more. couldn’t get a hold of our server whatsoever but the hostess, not our server, told us it would be 40 minutes for the next order. We thought okay that’s weird since it was around 9:10pm and the rush was pretty much done, mind you we ordered before we were even seated during a much bigger rush (there were about 3 couples, 4 if you include us waiting to be seated but we were served sushi right away but okay) so we waited. It’s now 9:40pm and the place is not empty but no more rush. Barely anyone is there and we still didn’t have our second order. There are 3 men making sushi, so I know that wasn’t the reason for the slow service. And it finally clicked. This place isn’t all you can eat, it’s all they want to serve you. There was NO reason we had to wait those extra 40ish minutes. She never put our order in to begin with. This is how they make money. They say all you can eat and you order 2 or 3 rolls and the second set you order takes almost an hour to come out. It’s FALSE ADVERTISEMENT on their end. Made no sense they’d take our order while waiting to be seated and have it ready by the time you sit (what if you decided to leave) but say you have to wait 40mins to an hour to get the second order with 3 men working the sushi line??? So I went to the front and spoke to the hostess who might be the owner and told her I knew what they were up to and they’d be reported to Palos Park to look into their business license. She said it because we ordered the tempura rolls, mind you these are rolled sushi rolls that are battered very thinly and deep fried, we didn’t order a deep fried Turkey which probably would’ve been finished before we got our rolls anyways. And how did she even remember exactly what we ordered almost an hour ago? She was putting in the order while I was up there, no way she had gotten orders from other tables since I was watching her stand there for 10 mins and the servers were nowhere to be seen. Lo and behold our sushi arrives 5 mins after the confrontation happened and the hostess is being extremely friendly and comes to check on our table 3 times after I spoke to her but didn’t really see her the first 2 hours we were there.

Also the service sucked. Barely saw our server at all but I felt bad for her and one other girl working there since they probably don’t get tipped since the business owners are shady AF. So order 15 rolls while you can because the second round of rolls will take the about the amount of time it takes rice to grow and...

Absolutely horrifying. Will never be coming back to this place, EVER. Where do I even begin? Maybe I should start with the fact that Covid-19 precautions are not being taken whatsoever!! This makes me feel extremely uncomfortable, my bf and I gave each other the look upon simply stepping in the door, however we settled since we were both starving. The last time we came here we requested a booth because of how packed it was. The server essentially ignored our request (not once, but twice)! and we had a lovely evening practically eating at the same table as the party next to us, awkwardly trying our best to not show our discomfort in quite literally not being able to talk, eat or do anything comfortably. I felt like I was going to bump elbows with a stranger. We were so far towards the edge of where the servers were walking, so much so that I kept actually getting bumped into. I made eye contact with the staff at the door multiple times, clearly picking up on our discomfort, watching them do absolutely nothing but stare at me with the dirtiest looks I’ve quite possibly ever seen. On top of it being impossible to catch any one of the staff member’s attention whatsoever (only once we needed something of course they turn the other way even though they are just standing there), they almost tried to charge us for simply asking to take our rolls to go. We didn’t purchase all you can eat. I’m assuming they just wanted to see if we would catch the mistake or if they’d honestly get away with it or not. This place is giving very “we pay our underaged employees under the table to pocket more money” vibes. Only saying this because I’ve been in that position and done that being taken advantage of thing from a place quite like this one when I was younger. The lady server everyone seems to complain about went out of her way to practically put her face in our meals to say happy holidays to the older couple next to us and chose to say not one word and give the meanest look ever upon us leaving. Let me also not forget to mention that I ended up catching food poisoning from this place! I know it was them because it was the last place I had eaten take out from. Almost didn’t notice the horrible state the wasabi was in upon refusing to eat it due to the nearly nonexistent lighting inside (some parts of wasabi were dark some were not… seemed like molding to me). Where’s a health inspector when you need one during Omicron season…Please avoid at all costs if you care about the health and safety of your loved ones. I am extremely dissatisfied and frustrated. I thought I had Covid from the symptoms I experienced and this caused me a huge deal of stress and anxiety all around. Imagine serving hundreds of people a day and signaling a huge “forget you” to their overall health and safety during a pandemic. Those poor employees too....

Have you ever been scolded for asking politely about a surprise automatic 18% gratuity attached to a bill for four people dining and been forced to pay for things that weren't sn't true? I haven't until I was made to defend myself by a server named Iris, who decided she would mistreat me for calling out her mistake and untruths. She continued to take things away from me while I said a number of times (at least five) that I was STILL eating. I felt attacked to the point I had to raise my voice to stop her from disrespecting me. Iris continued to treat me like I'm some awful person because I asked a simple question as it seemed off and wrong that an 18% gratuity be added TO EVERYONE DINING (REGARDLESS of party size) that she claimed starts NEXT WEEK... funny thing is my boyfriend asked, "Well, if it starts next week and it isn't next week yet wouldn't it not be applied?" She proclaimed, while shaking with anger, "It's on the door so... your friends eat here all the time they know (side note no, they didn't)! We have eaten here multiple times and have never had an 18% gratuity added.

I have never had to use a strong voice three times to tell a person NOT to speak to me as she was, "I will not be spoken to like that." I felt so sick to my stomach about being treated like I was and not being allowed to finish eating four pieces of sushi, let alone the skanky quality of the rubbish that's pretended to be called sushi.... and pay over 100 dollars for horrible, MEAN, and uncomfortable service.

Mind you, all people at this table regularly tip over 22% because all four of us are servers and have full knowledge about food service and challenges that come with the job. We all felt judged, uncomfortable, and I was berated for calling out a profoundly questionable bill. My friends and I are extremely disappointed and DISGUSTED by the poor quality, viciously argumentative service, and supreme lack of cleanliness.

Gotta say, it was awesome seeing some stuck on pink gooey stuff on the water pitcher we had on our table.

Ultimately, I would have a better experience having sushi from any gas station than this alleged "restaurant," where no rest is had and the food smells of used socks.

Anyone willing to eat here, I urge you to consider a real restaurant where you're treated respectfully and are noted as a valued guest and not an...
