Well I've eaten here a few times and tried different entries and something just seems to be missing. Bland with little seasoning on side dishes. Mashed potatoes always cold, rolls are ok but a little chewy I guess from being in the steamer? French toast is ok and the fried catfish. I try to support small businesses in the area but a few incidences have me torn in the decision of whether I will return.
A few weeks ago I was eating and heard one of the waitresses and one of the cooks arguing. It got heated and the guy in the kitchen was screaming and yelling at the waitress over pie? Didnt hear exactly all the details but this particular cook yells and screams at the waitresses alot. One of my favorite waitresses quit due to the way she was being treated.
Another incident regarding the food happened on Wednesday. Ordered the crispy cobb salad, started eating it and the chicken seemed rubbery/chewy like it was undercooked. Sent it back and the same cook removed the chicken, put in a fryer to re-cook? and then put the same chicken back on my original Salad (that was already contaminated with the undercooked chicken) and served it to me (my fork was still on the side of the bowl as I had left it when giving the dish back to the waitress). Didnt realize it was the exact same salad I had sent back until a few minutes had passed and I had eaten some.
So after this incident and other questionable practices, I've decided to stay clear of this restaurant. Have...
Read moreOrdered two breakfasts for pickup, decided to try the omelets. Son's Meat Lover omelet was correct and he reported it as delicious and made exactly as he ordered it. Only issue he had was with the side of bacon, said store bought and cooked at home had better flavor, in his opinion.
I got The Works, hold the onion and peppers. All I can say is they use BIG eggs. To say the omelet was large would be an understatement. All the fixings which went into the omelet were well done, and plentiful. I was not fond of the sausage flavor which was in the omelet. It was not a bad flavor, just not to my personal liking. The omelet as a whole was wonderful and huge enough to be very filling. They mistakenly sent plain white toast instead of the English muffin I requested, but at least the toast was WELL buttered, not dry like some offer.
They included a small cup of what tasted to be a homemade salsa with each omelet. It had a VERY nice flavor. If I had known it would be so good, I would have ordered extra!
Unlike many restaurants who offer tomato slices as a side order, Pantego Cafe's were ripe, juicy and delicious, a definite upgrade from the usual half-ripe and semi flavorless ones offered in so many other delivery and pickup places.
A wonderful new find for local pickups and we will be using them again, and...
Read moreI was very disappointed in this place it’s local to us and we were hoping it would be as good as the reviews say it was but alas I was fooled by the reviews. We had a variety of foods from their menu from breakfast foods to chicken sandwich to turkey and dressing to catfish and “hush puppies” I put the quotes on the hush puppies because that’s what they call them but they are bread sticks like my grand children get in school the chicken sandwich was so dry that my grand daughter took it off the bun and put gravy on it to try to eat it I ordered a breakfast sampler that comes with 2 eggs and I asked for 3 eggs and I’m glad I did because what I got was a spoon full of very loose scrambled eggs the vegetables were so tasteless that even adding salt and pepper could not save them but enough about the “food” the service was not as good as the food that brought out 2 of the orders and made 2 of us sit and watch while they ate eventually getting one of the other plates but had to ask for silverware to eat with all in all not a place I would recommend to friends and family and that is sad because we were looking for a home cooked meal we could enjoy on a regular basis and we have to keep...
