I wanted to try something new with my mom, we have our days when we go get something to eat together and I wanted some Cuban food. By the reviews and photos I figured this place was gonna hit the spot, but sadly it missed the spot. Oddly you order your food when you walk in, I was anticipating someone seating us and taking our orders. We got a menu, and found a booth and looked through what we wanted to order. I was turned off already by the ordering system, I was also disappointed in their drink options. I wanted to keep it simple and get a Cuban sandwich, my mom ordered the bistec plate and I got my daughter the chicken breast plate. My biggest pet peeves with Latin restaurants is when they serve frozen store bought platanos or tostones - yuck! That's exactly what was served with the plate orders, my mom said her bistec was tough but had okay flavoring. The chicken breast wasn't bad neither but did have an overwhelming taste of vinegar in some bites. The congri wasn't bad, it was on the warm side verses it being fresh and hot. Now the Cuban sandwich was what grind my gears, it had ketchup! In all the years I've had Cuban sandwiches and even made them myself, it never ever includedes ketchup! Not only that but it was more ham then pernil - let me put it this way; I didn't eat it. I ended up eating my daughters plate since she didn't want it and the sandwich went in a to-go box since my mom did not want me to say anything about it. It'll most likely end up in the trash since I told her she can take it back home with her. What a big let down, I am so disappointed with all these fast food like Cuban restaurants. I want to go to a place where I can sit down, have someone come take my order and have a traditional real Cuban food made with love. My husband is Cuban and he would have laughed and said something about the sandwich if he was with us. The funniest part is when paying for the food before the food is served, they ask for a tip but what are you tipping for if there is no service? They just bring out your plate and that's it. I would not go back and I do...
Read moreI recently visited HABANOS CAFÉ RESTAURANT for some pizza and was extremely disappointed with the service I received. The cashier and staff had a very intolerant attitude towards the customers, which made me feel unwelcome in a supposed Cuban establishment.
I would appreciate it if someone from the ownership could reach out to me to discuss this further. It is disheartening to see such negative energy from the crew, especially in a place that is supposed to represent Cuban culture.
Although the food was good during my visit, the poor service overshadowed any positive aspects of the experience. I had a similar experience on a previous visit a few weeks ago, which leads me to believe that this is a recurring issue at the restaurant.
Overall, I am very disappointed with my experience at HABANOS CAFÉ RESTAURANT and will not be returning. It is a shame to see such a lack of hospitality in a place that should be welcoming and caring for its customers. My expectations for a Cuban restaurant may have been too high, but basic customer service should be a given in any...
Read moreDecided to try this place it looked really good based on the menu. And many reviewers seem to like it. The food was made fresh to order, and even though it's a bit confusing, because there's Pizza served here and I have eaten at many Cuban restaurants and never noticed Pizza being on the menu. So this would probably be rated as more of a fusion place. But that doesn't make the food not good. Everything I had which wasn't much, was made very well the pork with Cuban rice and some plantains was delicious. Even though I would be back, it's not that close to where I live. I do recommend and when I'm in the area again I will give it a try. One other thing to note while we were there it seemed as the owner was having new furniture delivered during business hours. Even though this is understandable, and I don't know the reason behind it. I would say that's not something you would probably ever do when a food place is open with customers while eating. Just my thought. But once again it...
