I have have within 10 minutes walking distance, and I used to live right down the street on Balfour. Anyway, This park not only has beautiful big trees, some of the biggest I've seen in Las Vegas/paradise(this neighborhood is in paradise obviously right lol?) Anyway not only is there a baseball/softball diamond that are used weekly by some league s. It could be a teeny bit better (the Diamond) but it's good enough. There is also a decent ⚽ field! Both of these are on the southern end of the park (near Dutch Bros. so in the middle part of the park you have a pretty new well designed community center which as a indoor 🏀 and 🏐 court as well as workout rooms, all very clean and we'll maintained. There is also a outdoor pool with side kiddie pool and slide. On the north end of the park you have a wonderful wooded trail that's comfortable and there is also a little workout station on thee path. oH forgot to mention a big children's playground in this area as well. Now to the very few xons; so, just like anyparknyoy will get you're homeless(who generally stick to themselves) and also the park has a high park and metro presence so for all you ladies and older women you should feel safe here. Anyway other cons are sometimes there is a little bit of trash but not much, given the fact they have a cleaning crew this is kinda unacceptable, bit I understand you get a lot of careless people that think parks are a dumping ground for their trash...shame. anyways this is like sunset parks little adopted kid. It's imo a perfect little paradise for the neighborhood park. And if you want a true BIG grand park exp. Drive the five or less minutes south on Mojave and you'll literally go straight to Sunset. Anyway good job Clark county parks department this is a great addition for families and everyone who wants to...
Read moreI recently moved over near this area and had been looking forward to taking my 5 year old son and 12 year old niece over to this park. Its massive, there is tons of huge trees, lots of grass and lots of shade. It was great at first, we pulled up and as soon as we got out of the car we heard a saxophone being played. It was great to have that around our little adventure. Probably the best part, amd I am hoping its not a rare occurence to hear someone playing an instrument at this place. We picked out this park because we needed an open space to launch rockets using baking soda and vinegar. We quickly began manipulating the amounts of each ingredient and the rocket was going all over. Unfortunately, everytime the rocket fell, I had to go retrieve it as there was drug paraphernalia literally everywhere. I taught my son not to litter and to try to do his part so he naturally went to start cleaning up around our area and it broke my heart to have to tell him that the broken pens, the aluminum foil, and the gloves (You know, normal household items a 5 year old kid can identify) all around him have to be left right where they are because they have remnants of heroin and other powerful opiates that could kill him on them... We also had someone actually approach us and ask if they could have some of our baking soda on the way back to the car. Like REALLY? SMH. I am totally about giving this park another shot because it really is in a great spot, there is a rec center, a pool and lots of shade, but I will definitely be making sure to check before bringing the kids next time. To assess whether or not they will be "safe" from exposure to illegal substances if they run from a rocket launch, happen to trip, (You and I KNOW; one kid ALWAYS trips! Lol.)...
Read moreI moved to Las Vegas from Dallas in 1996 to enjoy the excitement of the Las Vegas Strip. But I soon realized that the Las Vegas valley's parks are an equally wonderful treasure. No matter where you live in Las Vegas, there's a park in walking distance. I discovered Paradise Pointe Park when I sold a home that borders the park. You can see the beautiful trees and green expenses from the master bedroom balcony. What's so wonderful about this park is that the city and the developers made it a part of the neighborhood. No matter where you live along the park, there's easy access. The developer put cut outs between the houses that lead directly to the access points to the park; the kids don't have to go on the streets to enjoy. I love this safety feature! This park has a popular skateboard park. Kids are whizzing by, practicing tricks. A superstar in the making? This is a basketball haven. A basketball statue welcomes you to the court. But there are also horse shoes and tetherball. The park has two playgrounds. One is for youngsters 2-5 and the other for older kids. This is a good idea because they like different things depending on their development. The park has a splash pad, a must in hot Las Vegas summers. There's parking on two levels, a good thing when a big...
