Order: Capuccino, Pour Over, Nom-Nom Burrito, Blackberry Scone, & Breakfast Bowl Price: $34 Positives: They had a large selection of food and coffee, they had a very cool outdoor seating area, very nice staff Negatives: While the coffee had good flavor it all seemed a little weak, the cappuccino was a larger size than I’m used to and all the extra milk made it far weaker than I like. tldr: Sunrise Coffee has some great food and a pretty amazing space, unfortunately I didn’t really prefer their coffee as it tasted week and there are a lot of other coffee shops in the areas. I would definitely come here for a great healthy breakfast but I probably wouldn’t come for just a cup of coffee.
Thoughts: Stop number 11 on the food, dessert, and coffee tour of Vegas. Today our choices were a little limited because we needed food and coffee, and we needed it at like 7:30 in the morning because we were driving to the Valley of Fire State Park for what turned into a 14 mile hike in hundred plus degree temperatures. It was awesome though, and don’t worry we clearly survive.
We chose Sunrise because it was open early, it serves food, and had coffee. The food was delicious, hearty, and very unique. While everything was vegetarian (just a heads up they use eggs for sure) you would never know that they were trying to be vegetarian eatery. What I mean by that is I’ve been to a few restaurants that you can tell are trying to take standard non-vegetarian food and just make it vegetarian. This place didn’t have that. The flavors were wonderful, the texture was fantastic (something had has a tendency to sometimes get weird with vegetarian) and I would absolutely go here just to eat breakfast. The outdoor patio was super cool and if we had time we would’ve loved to hang out eat a great healthy breakfast and just spend some time warming up for the morning. Unfortunately we didn’t have free time, we had to get our food, jump in the car and head to the Valley of Fire.
The food was also very filling; I was a little worried that with a vegetarian menu the food would be so light that I would end up being hungry in an hour or so and we had a six hour hike coming up now. I was completely and pleasantly wrong, and both of the items that we ordered were sizable and very filling. I didn’t feel like I needed to get more food as a back up (I eat a lot).
Before I continue with this review I think it is important to point out that Erin and I are insanely picky coffee drinkers. Like I openly admit I’m one of those people you probably shouldn’t take to your favorite coffee place and expect me to love it. I weigh the coffee I make at home by the gram, and I take the temperature of the water I use. I really do kind of go to somewhat absurd degrees to make and drink coffee. So if you’re not as fanatical as me you will probably love their coffee.
With that being said, I didn’t really like their coffee. It wasn’t bad really everything was just very weak, which was a surprise because they were using Mothership Coffee and we loved Mothership when we visited, both times. The first clue that we had was they offered different sizes for their cappuccino. That’s not really a thing, I cappuccinos should have one size and it should be smaller than a latte. Otherwise it’s just a latte. Anyway we ordered the smallest size which was still bigger than a cappuccino should be, and because of all that extra milk the cappuccino was obviously more milky, and didn’t really have that punch of espresso. The other interesting thing though was that the pour over even tasted a little water down. And we didn’t get a huge cup so I don’t know if their brew time was off or if their water wasn’t hot enough or the beans themselves were week. I really don’t know why but each of the coffee drinks we had just tasted weak. Overall it’s a bit of a two-sided story with Sunrise. If you want some great breakfast that’s healthy, filling and won’t make you feel weighed down they probably be a go to spot. But if you just want coffee, Sunrise may not hit the mark you’re...
Read moreI actually drove right by where to enter so I had to flip a U'e. Parking was easy & I did notice that the mall plaza that this is located in is pretty much empty. Not too many business's in here so I can see it possibly not being as busy as it could be. It's right next to Enterprise car rental.
I did notice the drive thru right after I parked next to it & their cute little outside patio. The side door was broken so I had to use the front door to go inside & was surprised on how many people were inside busy on their computers, cell phones & chatting with their friends. I saw the coffee bags for sale & had gone over there to see what flavors were available but had decided I was just going to ask about them about the flavors as I needed help in deciding on which one to get. I had checked out their menu & pictures prior to arriving so I would have an idea of what I wanted.
As soon as I got up to the counter I was greeted by Desmond. I was interested in the Butter Beer drink & had asked about it. I'm not a big coffee fan & when I do drink it I want something that is sweet & that I can't really taste the coffee...I know, I'm weird....LOL Desmond had told me that the Butter Beer was sweet & actually their sweetest. He went over to the coffee bags with me & I told him that I was actually going to give it to my Mom. He asked me what kind of coffee she likes & I told him "medium flavor" he pointed out a few & I went with Ballast Espresso. It is Baker's chocolate & rich caramel. He did tell me that it was actually whole beans & that they could grind them up & I was like "yes please" my Mom doesn't have a bean grinder & neither do I.
I ended up ordering a piece of their carrot cake too. I'm not a super big fan of carrot cake but I wanted to try out one of their sweets. I didn't think their pastries looked that good, they looked dried out. While I was waiting I was checking the place out & of course taking pics for Yelp. I couldn't get the whole inside due to all the customer's sitting around. I did notice that they had a table just for the handicap. A bathroom down a little hallway with a bulletin board that I was thinking you could hang up adds on it. There were LV Weekly magazine for free so I grabbed one of those (my favorite) & another magazine that I didn't grab.
Once my order was ready Desmond brought it over to me. My drink looked & tasted delicious, I LOVED it, it was sooooo good. It also had some cinnamon or nutmeg sprinkled on top (not sure which it was but it was good). He had put my carrot cake inside a cute bag. Once I got home I found a cute sticker inside the bag, straw, fork & my bag of coffee all grinned up.
I had my carrot cake the next day. It was loaded with nuts & raisins, which I'm not a fan of all that stuff inside cakes or cookies but it was moist & had a good taste to it. I found that the frosting which was probably cream cheese? didn't really have any flavor to it. I'm not sure how the bag of coffee I got tastes as I'm saving it for my Mom & probably won't see her till the Summer. I'll have to see what she thinks of it but I'm sure she will like it, she's not really a picky coffee drinker like I am.
I thought their 2 tip jars were cute as they each had a different event on them , I couldn't decide so I threw some money in each of them. Thanks for having tip jars available for your customers to leave you hard workers some extra cash to play with.
I'd definitely stop back in here when I'm in the area to grab myself another Butter Beer, I just wish they had a bigger size of it because it was soooo delicious!!
Thanks for all your help Desmond & being so nice...

I walked in and with a few people already there (nothing crazy) she greeted me like I was a celebrity. Wearing a mask, she was able to shine her great big beautiful smile right through. It’s an incredible quality to be able to “smile through the phone” or in this case through the mask.
As usual the coffee is spectacular. They don’t have my hoppy cold brew but that’s ok because the cold brew here is bar none the best in Vegas since I’ve lived here. —————- I tried this place about 18 months ago when I first moved here. Not knowing the area I couldn’t remember the name or the location. I recently moved a couple miles away & when I looked up b Coffee Shops to meet my friend I went over there. I B was so ecstatic when in walked in & realized that this was the place I had been searching for.
With the great company I was in, catching up with a friend of mine we ordered a couple coffees & some pastry. They were out of most of their other stuff, but was still worth sharing it for a little nosh.
Service was a little less than the way I remembered it & they weren’t as friendly either. At the same time they weren’t rude. It was on the pricey side which was a little much I personally thought however still worth it.
All in all coffee was delicious. I completely forgot to take a b photo whole I was there but I’ll be back not to worry.
Thanks...
