Came here after a good spa. Ordered a medium rare 22oz bone-in ribeye and it arrived more like a rare which worked even better for me. The cut was OK, with a fair portion of cap, the seasoning was spot on, didn’t really need the sauce, I would rate it 5 stars if it had more smoky flavor with better trim. My wife ordered king salmon which was a bit overcooked but still tender enough thanks to the material, yet she didn’t like the grilled Pimientos de Padrón, neither did I, pretty weird for a steak. To our surprise, the charred octopus is a cold dish(the plate is ice cold), despite the balanced combination of elements, the octopus itself tasted like a frozen one just came out of fridge then barely grilled for less than 10 seconds, more like a frozen snow crab leg texture. Not a hot tender smoky octopus we expected, and we both hardly finished one bite. Then we ordered the soft crab rolls which is fine. The servers were helpful and the manager offered complimentary drinks yet we were no longer in the mood, I just wanna finish my steak and leave, saving more space for a true late night savory. Didn’t really find the zen we want here,...
Read moreWent there for dinner and breakfast the next day. Note that the Zen Kitchen is the only full service restaurant at the WA. Service is of course impeccable but oh my the food was totally bland. For dinner I had the wagyu strip and although it came in with the right color and temp, the meat was tasteless. The chef had added some herbs I can tell but I just could not pick it out. The maitake mushrooms with teriyaki sauce on the other hand was overly sweet and did not at all go with the steak. The wine (malbec) and the dessert was wonderful. The sashimi plate was decent but I thought would be better at the WA. Same thing the next morning. I had steak and eggs. It was messily plated and not at all appetizing looking. Wagyu beef was again tasteless and no amount of salt and pepper could help it. Maybe its just how Zen Kitchen cooks everything. Letting the true value and taste shine through. I didnt get that memo. The Chino valley eggs were good though. Yolk was nice and brightly colored and...
Read moreTook my kids to brunch at Zens Kitchen It is in a 5 Star Hotel So I figured the food would be decent
We ordered
Steak & Eggs $45 The quality of the steak was comparable to Dennys steak - it was under seasoned and the steak was tough. Very much low quality and definitely not worth $45 The only good thing on my plate was the tiny crispy hash brown
Chocolate chip pancakes ONLY $26 It looked very fluffy, but small - 3 pieces But it was very dry
2 Chocolate milk $14 It was okay
1 strawberry matcha latte $10 With no strawberry anything in sight
The food took forever And they only checked on us once Service was not great Food was terrible
We will definitely NOT be returning here
I let the kids finish eating And we had to run across the street to our condo because the food made me sick
