Okay, I'm torn on this place. The food was absolutely delicious and the serving size were generous. When we asked for a side of guacamole and sour cream we received massive portions. The carne asada nachos were absolutely delicious, and I should have ordered that as my main course. As it was, I had the burrito, also in carne asada and green chili. The helpings were decent size for a Mexican restaurant, and the salsa that came with the nachos were delicious. You can tell it's a family-owned restaurant because the kids are there watching tablets and tv, while their parents worked. One of the daughters actually helped serve, just for fun. She was a very nice welcomer. The downside for this place was the atmosphere, as it was relatively run down. The bathrooms were horrible, but again the place was clean and it looked like a family run restaurant. I would eat here again, as this is the hole in the wall, family run restaurant that I appreciate. The main issue is the price for the four of us. I took a picture of the receipt so you can see what it cost for four of us plus an appetizer. All of us ordered water as well. This is a bit pricey for a Mexican restaurant. Other than the worn out look of the restaurant, the price was a stopping point. Again, I was very impressed with the food in the service. If you don't mind the price, then come here. It is certainly worth it. The price, though, leaves a lot to be desired, especially for a...
Read moreBecause of the glowing reviews on Nextdoor and the restaurant’s website and because we missed the great Mexican meals we had for over 60 years in Southern California, we thought we would try El Huerta. We were both less than impressed. There was almost no spicy heat in any of the sauces, the taco salad that I ordered, having heard that it was huge, was half the size of the good taco salads in the Pomona-Claremont-Glendora area, where we lived before moving to Parker. My husband‘s three item dinner filled the large plate with the hardshell taco on a side plate but there were no hot sauce bottles on the tables. I imagine we could’ve asked for one, but we didn’t. The beans were an almost liquid mess with no beans visible. They are all quite liquified. The chips that came at the beginning were singularly unimpressive. The basket was small and only about half full, the chips were thick and hard and almost totally lacking in salt. The bean dip that was brought out a little later that was for the chips was basically like the Rosarita can that had been run through a blender with a little cheese on top. The salsa that came with them was more of a tomato sauce than a salsa. Perhaps the Mexican fare From Texas is actually quite different from what there is in Southern California. Or perhaps we just need to keep looking for that really great...
Read moreThis is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant! We have driven by several times and finally stopped in to try.
We ordered chicken mole and the carne asada burrito. Both were delicious and came out fast. Service was great and very attentive, although there is a push by the servers to order dessert! You receive complimentary chips with salsa and a dipping bean side, which is a nice start to your meal. We also had the sopapillas, which were delicious!
While the food is great, I feel this would be a better to go spot versus dining in. The actual restaurant is pretty small and the tables are all really close together. It looks kind of run down inside but reminds me of taquerias I would eat at when I lived in California. El Huerto was very busy with to go orders and almost all the tables were full when we were there on a weekday evening.
You have to...
