My wife found this hole in the wall restaurant by accident, so we decided to try it.
We have been there twice. It is an amazing place. The food is great, the portions are big, and the staff is very friendly. I wish that I had taken pictures.
Anyway, the thing that sets them apart from other bbq joints is the amazing non-standard BBQ fare that they serve. Yes, they serve bbq items, but honestly there are so many great bbq joints in the area, I wanted to try their other options when I visited. I am glad that I did. The first time I had the breaded pork loins which were huge, seasoned well, and tasted great. The sides tasted good as well. Tonight, I had the catfish dish w/2 sides, which was also good.
Great tasting homemade bbq sauce as well. It is thick with a nice balance of tang, sweetness, and seasoning.
This restaurant is a must try, but get there early if you want dinner, because they close early.
Bonus: there is a meat store attached to the restaurant, where they sell all sorts of meat, and I even heard...
Read moreI gave this three tries before a review, mostly because people in the neighborhood keep recommending them. We live close, so we really wanted to like them. First time, we all got BBQ plates with mixed meats and sides and none of us found it exceptional. Nothing special at all, and we thought it was a bit expensive. Second time, I thought I would order a simple chopped BBQ sandwich, again, I wasn't really impressed or disappointed. It was ok. Third time, I order a burger. Paid almost $20 for the smallest burger and fries..... They somehow seemed to forget my order and about 5-6 people came in after me and left before. I reminded the cashier and she went to the back where I heard her ask the cook who yelled at her for asking. About 10 min later, my burger came out. In my opinion, way over done with little to no flavor and again very mediocre for a $20 meal. I find them overpriced and underwhelming. Much better BBQ or burgers in the area. However, the meat market is outstanding and...
Read moreI've been hearing about this place from a few folks. I decided to try Dave's this evening after work. First things first. When I walked in it remind me of an old country store back home in Tennessee and felt like I was back home again. Granted the interior might not be for everyone but it was awsome for the wife and I. 2nd : the cashier lady was a very sweet woman!!!! Very polite and down to earth!! 3rd : got the 2 meat plate. Ribs and brisket with sides of fried okra and tator salad. Brisket had very good flavor but was a little dry. Fried okra and tator salad was spot on for sure!!! Now for the pork ribs. Dannnngggggggg was they good... plenty of meat awsome flavor of smoke and rub. Don't forget very very tender!!!
I highly recommend going here...
