DANGER!!! Came here today to have lunch. Ordered Pork dumplings and beef soup dumplings. Got them to my table and ate a pork dumpling and thought it was weird. I opened another one up and saw that it was pink. Strangely pink and to find out it was shrimp and pork!!! It wouldn’t be so bad but it was because I’m allergic to shrimp!! I went to the front and asked them if it was shrimp and the guy looked confused because he checked to make sure he only put pork and beef and he did. He confirmed it was shrimp and I told him I was allergic. He went to talk to the kitchen and he came back to tell me that they were out of pork and they gave me pork and shrimp without telling me ! He asked if I wanted anything else and I said no I just want a refund. I’m trying not to freak out because I’ve never had this happen to me. I’ve been able to avoid shrimp my whole life, it’s something so easy to avoid. He comes back and tells me that my money has been returned but if I can go up and pay for the beef dumplings that I ordered. I was so mad I paid and asked to speak to a manager and they told me that there was no manager there. I’m beyond furious!! It’s ridiculous that a kitchen can do that and then not take responsibility for it. Thank goodness the only thing that happened was that my mouth broke out. I would like for a manager to please reach out to me so we can...
Read moreNorthern Cafe, located across from PCC on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, has recently opened its doors to diners. The interior is nice and welcoming. The menu is smaller than the restaurants in SGV, but offers a delicious variety of dishes.
We had ordered a few items from the menu, including eggplant with garlic sauce, xiao long bao, onion pancake, potstickers, and hand pulled cabbage. The food was delicious and flavorful, specially the eggplant with garlic sauce dish. The eggplant was well-cooked and savory. The pork potstickers were my favorite, with crispy skins and a yummy taste when dipped in vinegar.
Prices are reasonable with range of $7 to $15. I can see why there seemed to be many students from the City College across the street are dining here.
The service here is also very good as the servers were very attentive and helpful. They responded to my requests very quickly.
With this new location, I had a positive experience at Northern Cafe in Pasadena. The food was tasty and flavorful, and the smaller menu did not detract from the quality of the dishes. If you're in the Pasadena area and looking for a new spot to try out, Northern Cafe might be...
Read moreTwo stars for the taste. Not to sound cliche but I’m not sure if my race frequents the place but I walked in and felt the uneasiness. The greet was dry and seemed as if I was out of place for entering. I ordered online so that the food could be ready for my lunch break and was so excited because I pass this place all the time and been wanting to try because dumplings are a fav. First, I walked in and greeted the lady before she could greet me. Explained that I ordered online and if I could use the restroom during my wait. She kind of fanned like “go” in the direction of the restroom. Second, I’m standing in front of the fridge where the drinks are waiting for my order and she comes and reaches around me no “excuse me” or anything. I then apologize for being in her way, she says nothing. now my order is ready and I ask for a spoon (for my rice). She says “I put chop sticks, you want a spoon too?” It just wasn’t a great first time for me. Unfortunately I won’t give another chance to find out a second time. Honestly if I wouldn’t have ordered online I would have asked for a refund. Food was...
