Weekend in Pasadena

Weekend in Pasadena

My recent visit to Einstein Bagels in Pasadena, California was an absolute disaster. From the moment I entered the establishment, it was clear that this would not be a pleasant dining experience. First and foremost, the food was far from fresh tasting. The bagels were stale and lacked the fluffy texture and delicious taste I had come to expect from Einstein Bagels. It was incredibly disappointing to bite into what should have been a satisfying breakfast only to be met with a disappointing and lackluster flavor. To make matters worse, the potato side that I ordered was initially missing from my order. When I brought this to the attention of the server, their response was nothing short of rude and accusatory. Instead of offering a solution or an apology, they actually insinuated that I was lying about my missing order. Such unprofessional behavior is unacceptable and completely tarnishes the reputation of the establishment. The customer service throughout my visit was appalling. The staff seemed disinterested and indifferent to the needs of the customers. It was evident that they lacked proper training in how to handle customer complaints or provide basic courtesy. Overall, my experience at Einstein Bagels in Pasadena was one of the worst I have encountered in a long time. The food was far from fresh, the potato side was served cold, and the server’s response to my missing order was disgraceful. I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you value quality food and good customer service. I sincerely hope that Einstein Bagels takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure that other customers do not have to endure such a dreadful experience. -UPDATE- out of fairness, I did reach out to the Einstein customer service email and never received a response. They just don’t care…

Disappointed with the peeled and missing bagels today. Ordered 2 dozens cut bagels over the phone 3 hours in advance. The top of most bagels were peeled off, the rest were not cut in half. More like cut by 1/3 and 2/3. I had to re-cut all of them so they can fit into the toaster. One dozen did not meet the quantity of French Toast as ordered, I had to select other kind and they only put in 12 for the baker’s dozen. Very disappointed. I was told not to use the app as sometimes the orders don’t get placed. You’d end up waiting at the store. But ordering by phone is also painful. The first 13 calls went to voicemail, someone finally picked up at my 14th call this morning. She promised she’ll have the bagels made since I called 3 hours in advance. But when I picked it up, they didn’t have the quantity I ordered. I would not have taken the peeled bagels if I had known the shapes they were in, it was hard to look at them. Please take pride in your products and don’t trash its look. Down graded the ratings I gave 3 months ago.

I don't usually write online reviews, and I certainly don't write 1-star reviews unless I've had a really bad experience with the business. But my last few visits to this Einstein location have convinced me they don't really care about their customers who order on the app. I usually place an online order before leaving home, and the app says the order will be ready in 10-15 minutes. But the last few times I've ordered, they've always taken at least 30-45 minutes to make the order. Today they clearly forgot my online order and made me wait 30 minutes to make it. And they didn't even let me know the order was done. All this while I see folks walk in to place in-store orders, and walk out 5 minutes later with their food. They are certainly pushing the online orders to lowest priority. What then is the point of the online ordering system?

And clearly the employees at the door don't care, as any question is met with a reply on the lines of 'The order will be ready when it is ready'. Both the store management and employees should take a cue from Peets next door, which is run extremely efficiently by very caring employees who are genuinely concerned about their customers. Apparently both stores are owned by the same company, which blows my mind!

For now, I will keep ordering from Peets and stop ordering from Einstein until they fix their online ordering system. Which is a shame, since their bagels are...
