Fuji and VI’s Detroit-style pizza is one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Pizza is one of my favorite foods, and I’ve had some delicious pies across the country and in some spots outside. Napoleon style to Chicago deep dish, New York to Chicago LA to Detroit,My favorite is Detroit-style pizza, and Fuji and VI’s really brings it home. I found out about Fuji and VI’s when their Detroit-style pizza appeared on the top 100 list for best pizza places in the world. They’re located on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, about a 20-mile drive from me. I waited 45 minutes for them to open at 11:30 AM, but it was worth it. Pasadena can get very busy and parking can be tricky, so I wanted to get there early. This was my first time trying the place out, and they’re located on the second level, which can be hard to spot from the street. However, there’s parking in the rear. Everything about this place is worth it! I ordered an eight-square pizza with a half-margarita, half-Biggio topping. The people were very friendly, which I appreciate and love. But the best part was the pizza! I took my two doggies with me, so we took the pizza to go. The place is small with about three tables. When I got to my truck, I wanted to taste the pizza while it was hot, so I decided to have a bite. I gotta tell you, from the first bite, that square of pizza never had a chance! It was so delicious, cheesy, and meaty—awesome! I licked my fingers after as well. There are other places that make a Detroit-style pizza, but I’ll be going to Fuji and VI’s for some time to come. When I lived in Detroit about 40 years ago, my favorite place was Buddy’s pizza. I would always go when I visited Detroit, and sometimes relatives and friends would send me a couple of pies. Buddy’s also used to deliver frozen pizzas to you in the mail. It’s been years since then, and Detroit-style pizza has been popping up in various places. I’ve even seen a Detroit-style pizza at Costco. If you’re a pizza lover, especially a Detroit-style pizza lover, then Fuji and VI’s Detroit-style pizza is the place to go! They’re hands-down one of the best Detroit-style pizza...

this place has quickly become my favorite local pizza place, and is contending with favorite pizza place overall.

admittedly, i am no detroit-style pizza connoisseur, that's for sure. however, i do think this pizza is pretty damn good. like, suspiciously good. one of the standouts of the menu to me in particular is the "contradiction" -- a barbecue, chicken, and pineapple pizza (gasp!). historically, i am not a fan of these ingredients as pizza toppings (the barbecue sauce is way too sweet and there's too much of it, the chicken is overcooked, etc. etc.), but i have to say that this pizza was single-handedly responsible for my total reconsideration of how beautiful these ingredients can be together and, in my opinion, is absolutely worth the trip alone. for real, it's good. everything i've had from here is good but this pizza? mhm, mhm, good, good. very well.

the people that work here are friendly and nice. the place was clean when i was there, and there was soft jazz playing in the lobby (my favorite bill evans song, my foolish heart, even came on). the decor was niatalgic, with little bits of detroit memorabilia scattered throughout. i'm not sure if the owners actually have roots in detroit or not, but it was convincing enough anyway. good enough vibes.

anyways, if you like pizza, i'd give this place a shot, even if you're not particularly fond of detroit-style. you might dig it. every new thing you try has the potential to be your next favorite...

Came here for the first time , saw a lot of good reviews, and even a customer who dine in to eat a pizza said it was great, so I was ready to enjoy my 3 pizza that I order. 1 double pepperoni 8 slices , 1veggi 4 slices, and 1 santiglia 8 slices. Took it to my friend's house , not that far 8-minute drive to his place. Everything looks good and delicious, but once we got eating the pizza , I was like 🤔 nothing special, maybe because I really don't order Detroit style pizza, crispy crust 👌 agreed thick airy dough idk about that 🤔, generous topping 👌 agreed, affordable price 🤔 86 with tip Idk if you consider that affordable price for 3 pizza. The pizza will get you satisfied full. From the 3 pizzas, the most flavor out of the 3 pizzas was the veggie pizza, I thought the santigla was going to have a lot of flavor, but it didn't, I tasted more the cheese. The same goes with the double pepperoni, I love pepperoni, but I wasn't about to taste the pepperoni, even my friend told me ,knowing it's double pepperoni, the veggie was the most flavorful and balanced pizza , we should of order 8 slice and the veggie and just 4 slices on the other 2 pizza. Would I come back? But,remember this is my opinion, if you like this place then you can come back but for me it was the first time and that it. Nothing amazed me to come back, knowing it was 8 minutes away from my friend place...
