| L O C A T I O N | Tucked quietly behind Lemonade and in the courtyard. (Sugarfish is next door!)

| S E R V I C E | I LOVE Philz's motto: "Bettering Days". It's perfect for what they aim for and do. It's crazy how a great cup and a genuine smile can really turn around s bad day.

Another thing I love is that the bar is made for customers to walk up directly to the barista; at more 'traditional' cafes, the baristas are behind the espresso machine or glass and you don't really get that one on one interaction. But at Philz, you're encouraged to talk to your barista.

Harris, thank you for the solid recommendation and the friendly chat; great way to start my morning. (:

Iced Mint Mojito (sml | $4.50) You can't go wrong with this signature Philz creation.

Iced Mocha Tesora (sml | $4.50) There's something amazing about their mocha. I prefer a slightly sweet mocha over an overly sweet and decadent mocha. Philz has a great one!

Dancing Water ( sml | $3.50) I wanted to try something new and Harris recommended this because of the chocolate notes it has and he threw in some cinnamon while brewing it -OHMYGAWD! Looks like I found my new drink. ;)

Lots of yummy pastries to eat here. From croissants, cookies, and muffins. But I recommend their almond croissant or the ham & cheese croissant. It's a nice contrast to the coffee.

Like Philz other stores, the Pasadena space evokes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the staff to the lighting to the big communal table, it puts a nice emphasis on community. Lots of outdoor seating for enjoying the perfect LA weather! I definitely can see this being a haven for those looking to sip and relax.

Of course they offer free Wi-Fi. They also have a small game section and 'take one, leave one' book shelf. Definitely my...

Pro Tip #1: If you like the Mint Mojito, order it "easy on the mint leaves", otherwise they pack practically half the drink and you wind up with little room for left for the actual drink.

Pro Tip #2: Stir up your drink before consuming as all the sugar is on the bottom or you wind up with a mouthful of way too sweet coffee at the end.

I wish there was a Philz closer to where I live but I am willing to make the drive for their fabulous Mint Mojito Coffee. I used to go all the way down to the DTLA location (about a half hour drive) before they opened up this one in Old Town and it was worth it then too.

The service is so nice and consistent, no matter which one you visit. My friends and I have pretty much only ordered the Mint Mojito, so I can't tell you what anything else they have tastes like.

The setup to order and pay is a little weird though if you have never been to one before. You get into a line but you're not sure if it's the correct line or even a line at all. A barista will call you up to ask what you want, then you shuffle on over to a different line where you repeat your order to the cashier and pay. I don't think that's the most efficient or "user-friendly" way to do it but that's pretty much the only complaint I have. All their locations are designed that way, which always throws me off because I don't frequent them enough to remember, then I end up trying to figure out how to order my coffee.

The layout of the shop is open, clean and has plenty of seating- both indoors and out. I like the location because I've always loved Pasadena. My husband loves their Mint Mojito as well but he finds...

Coffee is not a phase, it’s a lifestyle. That being said let’s start this fantastic review. Philz Coffee is a franchise company coffeehouse located within The Common Plaza in Pasadena. They specialize in customized coffee blends, made from sustainably sourced green beans from around the world, and skillfully roasted in their roasting facility in Oakland, CA. We have never tried this coffee franchise before but to our surprise they exceeded our expectation. They have a good and interesting coffee blends. I had a hot Philtered Soul, a medium & balanced blend of hazelnut, maple and caramel. It was bloody PERFECT in taste and aroma. To top it off, I added a fresh flaky Chocolate Croissant. Service was on point despite its multiple orders from local customers. Interior atmosphere was chill. Free wifi. Prices were competitive and fair. Staff were competent and professional. Overall, it’s a nice coffee shop and definitely recommend. I shall return.

I have visited many Philz Coffee shops in San Diego and LA and have always enjoyed my experience. However, my recent visit was quite surprising due to the noticeable change in pace. The cashier was slow, and the staff seemed disorganized and not equipped to work efficiently. There was a lack of sense of urgency and attention to detail, leading to multiple instances of orders being mixed up and creating a lot of confusion. To top it off, I waited over 10 minutes for a simple black coffee with no added sugar or milk. I hope these issues to restore the excellent service. I noticed there was no display of water or juices in the fridge, not sure if it’s temporary or not, but would be great to see some alternative drink options. The coffee shop is located in the cutest shopping and dining area, so it would be great to see it become a cozy spot that is also up to speed.
