The quality of the ice cream at Salt & Straw surpasses the hype! The only ice cream that I have ever had that could compare was the dessert at a farm to table fine dining restaurant. It was hand made earlier that day by a chef using local dairy and fresh berries from a nearby farm. Honestly, that is what is so cool about Salt & Straw. They focus on using fresh local ingredients. Their rotating seasonal menu is mind-blowingly good. At the time of our visit it was still berry season. The berry pie ice cream was a heavenly experience of pure food joy! My wife and I treated ourselves to dessert here on our anniversary this summer. It was busy but the line moved fast. We tried a couple of samples which to my surprise we served on metal spoons. When done you just drop them in the spoon chute which is built into the counter. What a fun feature to have reusable sample spoons. If it is your first visit I highly recommend that you focus on the seasonal menu. Everything there is hand made in small batches using the best local and seasonal ingredients so its all going to be fantastic. There is just something a bit more exciting about a seasonal menu in my opinion. I also recommend that you check out the About Us page on their website. What an amazing story. From a basement to a food cart to a gourmet ice cream chain. So, do yourself a favor and give this exceptionally excellent gourmet ice cream shop a try soon.

Stopped by for a dessert while out on Colorado Blvd on a Saturday afternoon. There was a line of about 30 people which continued onto the sidewalk. However, line was moving at a decent pace and had my ice cream within 20 minutes. This was good timing as they allowed everyone to taste multiple flavors without rushing anyone. There was a large variety of flavors from the recurring classic flavors to the limited edition flavors. Flavors were very unique and creative which causes you to be adventurous. After trying a few flavors, opted for the Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge and Chocolate Gooey Brownie in a split cup. The split cup was basically a single scoop of each which was plenty of ice cream. Flavor was delicious and the texture was very creamy. Everyone in the group was happy with their order which consisted of different flavors in both cups and cones. Nice place to come for unique and creative ice cream. Line may appear long, but moves quickly. It was worth the wait.

I had the most pleasant experience with Camille! This was my first time coming to this shop at the recommendation of my friend. We got helped by Camille; she was super friendly!!! She gave owner recommendations and popular combinations. I ended up going with the Goat Cheese marionberry Habanero along with Huckleberry Cornbread pudding. The goat cheese flavor is really good because it has a slight twinge of spice and is slightly salty. I thought it would be good to balance it out with the Huckleberry flavor but that turned out being too sweet for me eventually. A sample that I liked, that I would get next time is the olive oil flavor. Despite the name, it just tastes light, smooth, and kind of vanilla-y. It fits anyone who doesn't like strong flavors, it doesn't even taste strongly like vanilla but it's the best thing I could compare it to. A scoop is about 7$ but it's massive. I thought it would be small and got two scoops, but I was fully bloated by the end of eating everything.

Salt & Straw is hands down one of the most creative and delicious ice cream shops I’ve ever visited. Every scoop feels like an adventure. Their classics, like Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Double Fold Vanilla, are rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. But what really makes them stand out are the seasonal flavors — you’ll find combinations you’d never expect in ice cream (like herbs, jams, or even veggies), and somehow they work more often than not.

The texture is always ultra-creamy, and the mix-ins are generous without overpowering the base. I love that they let you sample before committing, which makes it fun to explore the wild flavors. The waffle cones are fresh and buttery, and the whole shop has a welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger.

Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side, but you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the thought that goes into every batch. Plus, they have a real commitment to sustainability, using local and even upcycled ingredients, which makes enjoying it feel even better.

If you’re an ice cream lover — whether you stick with classics or you’re ready to try something bold — Salt & Straw is...
