We ended up in Payson after having to change our travel plans because the interstate was closed. After traveling all day, sitting in traffic & being rerouted multiple times, we were looking for a good place to sit & enjoy a nice meal. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy. I approached the host stand & had to greet the hostess as she was too busy rolling silverware to acknowledge me. I asked what the wait time would be for a party of 7. She said 25-35 minutes. I agreed & she asked if we’d be waiting in the restaurant or if we’d like to leave our phone number & they’d call us once our table was available. I told her that with our large party size, we’d just wait in our vehicles so we didn’t overcrowd their waiting area & that we’d appreciate the phone call. Our vehicles were parked just outside the front door. We had the windows down & our older kids were standing outside of the car so we would have heard our name if they called it. After 30 minutes of waiting, I asked my daughter to run in check our place in line. She said that 3 tables were ahead of us, but it should be about 10 minutes. We decided to just exit our vehicles and head in to the restaurant. We found chairs and a bench inside the restaurant, directly in front of the host stand. Party after party was called and 10 minutes turned to 25. Since they were busy and a large private party was taking place, we just assumed they were busy. My husband walked up to the host stand to check our place & the younger, unfriendly hostess who initially took my name and number said, “We already called you.” My husband said, “We’ve been right here. Our name hasn’t been called.” We’ve now been waiting over 1 hour 20 minutes. I walked over to the host stand & said, “We’ve been here for over an hour. Our name was never called and you took my phone number. You said you’d call when the table was ready and that never happened.” Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the mistake, she proceeded to go and get another, middle aged hostess. When she approached the host stand, I could tell things were going to be unpleasant as she got extremely close to my face and said, “I called your name myself a long time ago. I called it several times & even went outside and called it.” I said, “We’ve been sitting right here. Our name wasn’t called. Before that, we were right there (& pointed to where we were standing just outside the door). Regardless, the other hostess took my number & said you’d call. I saw her write it down & I even had her correct the phone number. We expected a phone call. Our name wasn’t called nor did we get a phone call. My phone is in my hand.” She then flipped the list of names to the previous page and there was my name and phone number. All of the other names on the page had bern crossed off, but mine was not. It was clear that it was an oversight, but still no apology. Instead, with an attitude, she said she’d clear a table for us. We had remained patient up until this point, but I didn’t appreciate the rude interactions. We should have just left right then and there, but our party was very hungry and we needed to get back on the road. Things then took another turn. As we were still seated there & waiting, I felt as if someone was staring at me. I looked up and the young her hostess who initially took my name and number was standing there staring directly at me, giving me a dirty look. At first I thought maybe she was zoned out or looking behind me, but no. Instead she rolled her eyes at me. I asked if she had an issue and she laughed, rolled her eyes again and said, “You can just go and eat somewhere else.” We were astonished! The middle aged hostess told us our table was ready & we sat down. Other restaurant patrons were appalled by what transpired. One woman who was waiting actually walked right out the front door and left after hearing that. Our waitress was the only friendly person in the restaurant. We must’ve been the topic of discussion since the employees were giving us the stare down as they walked by the entire time. Not worth the...
Read moreCalled in for reservation but no answer on multiple tries. Visited before noon for lunch with group of 8. Staff friendly at greeting yet left us waiting nearly 15 minutes inside lobby for outdoor seating to be set up. Once at table waited 10 minutes before drink orders taken where we said we were then ready to order. Sarah brought our drinks but said we had to wait to order until she took that of a table near us first. Add 20 more minutes at least before orders were taken. Appetizers brought 10 minutes later but waited easily another 45 minutes to an hour for food to arrive. Place no more than half full at best inside and out. During this additional 45 minutes to an hour no refills or even a visit from Sarah. The times she did visit the table she was rushing and not openly welcoming as if we annoyed or bothered her. Not one smile. Food however was delicious! Couple of group members had semi-cold meats on their plates right when delivered to table. I waited an additional 15 minutes as last person to get their meal and only got a refill once my meal arrived. Sarah appeared irritated once asked for refills with many in our group seeing and agreeing on her overall demeanor. While eating over next half hour NO visits from Sarah or any other staff leaving half of the drinks at the table empty or near empty. I get if a place is busy or possibly understaffed but the customer service here was consistently bad today sad to say. Plus I have been here before and had great food and service! Not one apology for missing phone call, delays and lack of visits to table or overall demeanor. Willing to visit again and hope for a better experience but if similar to today then on to a different restaurant for good.
2/22/24 after being in contact with Shane for the last week he has demonstrated great customer service in speaking with me more than once and kindly offering a gift card to my parents for the inconvenience. He even made the physical effort to hand deliver the card with an apology! All of this was not required by me nor my family yet greatly appreciated! This is the epitome of customer service! I will gladly add a star to my...
Read moreI could rave about the food, and I will, but their customer service is beyond anything I have had outside high end dining. My husband and I are visiting family from out of town and happened to hear about their prime rib special on Saturday nights. My husband, being a lover of all things meat, couldn't resist trying this out. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest young lady, led to our table and had drinks ordered within 3 minutes. (I ordered the Piehole Porter and give it a resounding recommendation) We ordered our food and from the moment the salads were dropped, wait staff routinely checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Our drinks bever ran dry and the food was served in a timely manner. Every server seemed happy to help one another out and even the owner made the rounds checking on everyone. That level of personal attention was remarkable.
When the prime rib came out, it was a full inch and a half thick cut. My husband usually likes his meat bloody. But this is a smoked prime rib, so while not bloody, it had a perfect smoke ring and was served medium rare, his favorite. It came with a side salad, baked potato and vegetables. My husband can pack away a 32 Oz rib eye no problem and even he had to struggle to finish this.
I got a wood fired pizza and it was delicious. You know when you can tell if someone uses high quality pizza ingredients or skimps out on cheap cheese? They did NOT skimp on cheap cheese. It was thick, gooey, FRESH mozzarella. A delicious red sauce and the ingredients were flavorful. The crust was reminiscent of something you would find in New York city. That perfect hand tossed style that was fluffy and thin.
All in all, I happily give this place all the thumbs up and a rousing 5 stars. Next time we are in town, this place is going on...
