We come to Due South for many occasions as a family, mainly to celebrate birthdays. Even after covid hit and no outside food wasn't allowed- we still come and order off the dessert menu in house. However, this particular visit had some issues. I called two weeks in advance to make a reservation for 20 ppl for Husbands 50th and Fathers 60th bday. Since being in the business for 25+ years I wanted to give adequate time for a Sunday 1pm 20 top. When I spoke with Marla 2 weeks prior to the actual date of our reservations- she stated that if we have a party over or at 20ppl then we would need to be on a set menu and I stated I understand and I will call the week of to confirm the number of guest. As the week approached, my work week got hectic and I appreciate that Olivia from the restaurant called Saturday 9/30 to confirm our reservations and I told her thank you but we will confirm 18ppl but put us down for 19ppl just in case I forgot some one and we would love to order off the full menu. She stated no problem - see you all tomorrow at 1pm. Once we arrived everything was beautifully set up with waters for every spot and our servers were very welcoming. Mind you there was only three other 2 top tables at the time of our 1pm arrival. Once we all got settled, we had some unexpected guest arrive to the count- we asked the server if they can just sit at the table next to our party and she stated absolutely and no problem. We started to place our lunch order and all of a sudden a man came up to me and asked me if he could have a word with me that he was the manager, Brian. I stepped behind the door area and he decided to drill in on me of how we have gone over on our actual confirmed count? I told him that i didn't have control of this and wasn't going to have an argument in front of my family and or guest, nor was I making them leave when they arrived. He stated well the hostess should have explained that they have a set menu, one check policy and $200.00 fee for anything over 20ppl. I quickly explained to him that we come here a lot and i understand for kitchen purposes with a large party but nothing in the manner of $200 fee or one check policy was ever mentioned. Yes we were told about set menu but we had RSVP at 18 as of day before. Mind you again there were only 3 two tops in the restaurant and then us at this time and it never go busier while we dined. He tried to make me feel that he was doing me a favor by not charging us the $200.00 fee. If my family had not already ordered - we would have walked out of the restaurant and found some where else to give our business too because I felt like my time and celebration was ruined and him approaching me at the table and pulling me away from my family was absolutely rude and uncalled for when again they were not busy. I will have to re think about spending my money in the restaurant again with this type of treatment.

We all left extra gratuity to our servers because they were perfect but the manage needs to have some hospitality manager re train. I have been a corporate server/trainer for multiple large restaurant chains and I could never image asking a customer why they brought more revenue to my place of business when they were not busy at all. Again, uncalled for and inappropriate timing to let me know their policies. Hate that this restaurant will be off the list for big events for our family, who come from all over GA to meet. Good luck with your large party events and their not so well communicated polices prior to your...

Made reservations for Valentines celebration. Looked at reviews and discovered this was previously another name, but had been renovated. Reviews I read were very positive, I too, would like to leave a positive review! My husband and I had never been to this restaurant but had talked about it a couple years ago. Even though it was a late lunch for us it was considered dinner at 3:45 PM at the restaurant. The timing was perfect for us because the crowds were very minimal and we were sat at a table that could’ve been for four but only had two chairs, very nice size. Our waitress was Joslyn. She was perfect in every way. Her positive attitude, smile, and attentiveness, set the tone immediately. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, even food temperature was as expected, perfect. Many items to select from on the menu. Please see my note at the end of this review Regarding the food. The restaurant was very clean and nicely renovated, even though we don’t know what it looked like before, and we sat in cushion chairs that were very comfortable. We discovered that a new management took over the restaurant and change the name when it was renovated. It is A five Star restaurant for sure. We look forward to returning to this restaurant in the near future. I highly recommend you consider this as a top notch five star restaurant and give it a try. An additional note, my husband, and I also had a dinner reservations for Valentine’s Day at 9:30 PM at a different 5 Star restaurant. This other restaurant we had not been in since before Covid. Here is my additional comment on the food: I asked my husband of all the food that we ate between the two restaurants what was his favorite item his answer was “Shea Crab Soup” here at Vanzant’s! Even the second item was from this restaurant, which means a lot because we ate a lot of delicious food on Valentine’s Day! It was the appetizer scallops, which is shown...

It was okay but I definitely wouldn't return. First and foremost expect to need a reservation. Although we arrived in the middle of the day when the restaurant was basically empty we were still told that due to people coming in at a later time that there was no seating unless we chose to sit and eat at the bar. We chose the fried gator tail and the oysters due south for appetizers. They were out of Gator so that was replaced with deviled eggs. Both were so so. We each had the fried double lobster tails over risotto with seasonal vegetables, a side order of mac and cheese, a side order of spinach and two cocktails. The lobster tails were extremely salty and left no trace of any other flavor. The rest of the food overall was pretty bland lacking seasoning. The presentation of the food itself was great, however as foodies and chefs ourselves we stand firm in presentation does not, nor should not, replace quality/taste. The first two cocktails ordered which was the golf cartini and the penicillin were good. However I proceeded to order two refills on the cartini only to find that the more I ordered the weaker the drinks became. The service was subpar as again we were seated at the bar and the bartender needless to say was multitasking. We watched numerous people arrive after us, order after us, yet receive their food, finish and receive their check before we ever received our entrees. There is definitely a demographic here and you can strongly tell that is what is catered to. The price of the food overall in our opinion was way overpriced given the quality and taste of the food. We frequent lower end as well as higher end establishments quite regularly and we have had much better experiences at both. Upon receiving our check we were charged for more items than we ordered which had to be corrected. Overall you don't know until you go and in this instance we learned it's definitely not somewhere we...

I appreciate the direction that Due South seems to be trying to go, with the updated decor, menu and service but there is still much room for improvement. The atmosphere is much more refined than before but we still witnessed several patrons wearing athletic gear and ball caps, it would be nice to actually have at least country club attire required to match the atmosphere. The top 40 hits playing on the sound system also detract from the ambiance. It was kind of confusing as to which direction they are trying to go. Unfortunately the updated menu options that we ordered were very bland, definitely lacking in seasoning and flavor. Previous to our meal at Due South, I cannot recall the last time I actually used the salt and pepper shakers on our table. I started with the blackened jumbo scallops which were decent sized but definitely not blackened, lacking any flavor and were served warm…ish. The Due South lager was tasty but served cool, not cold. Our main course was the ribeye which I ordered medium rare and red snapper. The steak is served a la carte and was also presented to me a little over warm temperature and lacking any flavor at all. It was also rare. My wife’s meal of snapper, rice and broccolini was also just warm. It too all was devoid of any flavor. We still decided to sample their dessert service and settled on the chocolate lava cake. We both agreed that the cake from Dominos pizza is better. A pretty regrettable experience overall and wouldn’t recommend based on this. Hopefully they can get it together because PTC is in need of a nice relaxing sit down dinner restaurant. But for the $115, I expect a lot better. The one positive was that our server was excellent !
