The layout and and atmosphere of this place is really pleasant - There’s plenty of seating for groups of all sizes, and you can even reserve private rooms (Which is a genius idea for anyone in a meeting, study group, conference call, or just needs the extra focus). It has a very bright, modern, yet comfortable vibe to it and it’s a place I can really see myself hanging out in a lot for school or work. They have lots of outdoor seating, too, and they’ve got lots of bagged beans and merch you can take home with you.
The prices are what you’d expect from an artisan coffee shop that roasts in house - There’s a good variety in menu items, single-origin coffee, syrups, and styles of drinks. While there is a pastry cabinet with a few high-protein items and sweets (I had this s’mores pastry that was fantastic), there isn’t a kitchen - So don’t expect meeting anyone here for lunch.
My main and only gripe about this place was with the coffee itself. I don’t believe the espresso is a poor blend or low-quality roast, but I feel like the baristas’ need more training in order to give it a proper treatment. When I went to order, I asked if my latte could be made half-caf.. and the barista looked at me with confusion before asking the other baristas if that’s possible, and another eventually came up and told them they’d do it. When I did get my latte, the milk wasn’t properly aerated so my coffee lacked any texture - It just tasted like hot milk and coffee. It wasn’t bad or undrinkable, but it was a little disappointing considering how much effort seems to have gone into the building itself, its roaster, its equipment, and its menu.
I’d recommend that people check this place out because it is a genuinely cool spot, but i’d also recommend that you wait a few weeks for the baristas to get more training, more feedback, and more...
Read moreThis coffee shop is a real treat. First, getting here is easy with ample parking and very good ADA access.
When you walk in a well-designed space full of tables, lounge chairs, and private meeting rooms greet you. The well lit and cozy atmosphere make this a perfect location to read a book or study. The patio is made of brick and stone and features several tables with umbrellas. Everything is very clean and well taken care of. The crowd was full of students studying in groups, families catching up, and business partners working on projects. The space has a nice energy to it.
The food menu features salads, and a few wraps/sandwiches. They looked great and were freshly made. The pastry case is immaculate and if you have a sweet tooth you are sure to have something you will enjoy.
The menu for coffee is what you would expect from a modern coffee shop with high quality ingredients. The medium roast drip coffee was my preferred taste, and not tart or puckering. Very drinkable and a great all around cup of coffee. Service was fast and friendly.
Prices are what you would expect for an upscale, but not bourgeois coffee shop. Similar to Starbucks, but better quality ingredients and a nicer space. Expect to pay $3-$7 depending on what drink you get. I found the prices reasonable.
One thing that could be improved is the patio. It could be something really special if planters/hedges were used to "enclose" the patio. I think this would also cut down on the noise from Broadway and help turn the patio into a little oasis. I'd also recommend some cheap string lights and perhaps some shade for hot days. If people driving by see a great patio buzzing with people it will help draw them into the business, and the space is perfect for creating that inviting atmosphere.
Overall, I'm a fan and...
Read moreMy wife raved about this place, after she had previously visited. So we decided to stop in for a snack and coffee.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and how they renovated the place from the previous business.
I ordered a cinnamon scone, bacon and egg empenada, and a cold brew coffee.
My wife ordered a hot chocolate and chocolate croissant. The staff called my name and I picked up my tray with the empenada and scone.
We sat down, and wondered where my wife's chocolate croissant was.
They called my name again for the drinks, and we both went to counter.
My wife asked about her croissant, and one of the young ladies stated, "Oh they are working on the croissant". (weird, its on the shelf, where they grabbed my scone).
We sat back down, waited a few moments, and my wife approached the counter again.
This time she came back to the table, and was furious.
It seems the young lady at the counter did not add the chocolate croissant to our order.
Now, I get it, we are human, we make mistakes. But, the problem that I see is the first comment/reaction from one the young ladies was, "They are working on it"
In my opinion, a better option would have been "Let me/or someone check on that for you".
The second issue I have is when the person that rang up the order was asked about the croissant, why not just tell my wife, "Sorry I forgot to input the order".
Simple mistake, again we are human, but there was no feedback until my wife questioned the staff the second time.
So, lesson learned, we probably won't be back because of this situation.
The staff might want to consider some more attention to customer service, especially when folks are spending their hard earned money.
But, one of the staff did blurt out "Have a nice day" as we exited the...
