🧅🥩🍗🧄 A Rare Gem of Culinary Fidelity—Where Tradition Meets Mastery 🍋‍🟩🍹🍸🫒 As someone who has spent a lifetime traversing the globe in pursuit of culinary excellence—from the fabled spice bazaars of Hyderabad to tucked-away izakayas in Kyoto—I seldom encounter a restaurant that reverberates with such soul, craftsmanship, and truth to origin as Gurkhaas Grill & Bar. The evening began with a refreshing, palate-cleansing salad—light, crisp, kissed with citrus. What followed was a crescendo of flavor that recalled not the diluted adaptations so often found abroad, but the very truth of Indian cuisine in its finest form. The Gobi Manchurian arrived first—cauliflower cloaked in a golden crust, its glaze a perfect storm of heat, tang, and umami. You could taste the hand-ground masala, the unmistakable mark of a kitchen that still honors the pestle and mortar. The Chicken 65—deep red, fiery, yet perfectly balanced—was a revelation. Each bite sang of curry leaf, chili, and time-honored technique. And then: the Tandoori Chicken. Succulent, gently charred, steeped in a marinade so well-judged it penetrated to the bone. It tasted as though it had been slow-roasted in a traditional clay oven, the kind you’d find in the courtyards of Punjab. This wasn’t restaurant fare—it was heritage on a skewer. The crown jewel, however, was the Butter Chicken. Rich, velvety, and indulgent without ever veering into excess. The sauce—bright with tomato, mellowed by cream, spiced with restraint—enveloped tender chicken morsels in a blanket of memory. It was a dish both royal and deeply familiar. Alongside came the finest accompaniments: jeera rice, each grain infused with toasted cumin; naan, blistered and buttery, cloud-soft inside; papadoms with a triumvirate of chutneys—tamarind (bold and sweet), cilantro-mint (refreshing and bright), and one with an earthy chili depth that lingered in the best way. The Palak Paneer, too, deserves high praise—vibrant spinach, cooked to velvet, embracing delicate paneer cubes in a dish that tasted freshly gathered and lovingly stewed. To drink: a virgin mojito—cool, vibrant, and refined. The bar itself is nothing short of exceptional, boasting a top-shelf selection of rare bourbons and fine spirits akin to what one might find in a private club in Manhattan or a hillside resort in Napa. It’s the sort of bar where connoisseurs smile quietly to themselves. Dessert was a rice pudding—gently spiced, lightly chilled, its sweetness whispered rather than shouted. It was the perfect final note in a composition of flavor that felt like a raga—graceful, emotive, enduring. But beyond the food, it is the intention that sets Gurkhaas apart. This is a place where dishes are not rushed—they are composed. Where heritage is not referenced—it is respected. The kitchen speaks a fluent dialect of regional India, not in clichés, but in nuance. And the service—attentive, unobtrusive, sincere—reflects a quiet excellence that runs through the entire establishment. In a world where dining too often caters to algorithms and trends, Gurkhaas Grill & Bar stands as a beacon of integrity. It is not just a restaurant—it is a place of pilgrimage for those who truly understand what great food can be: a memory, a passport, a poem. I left not simply nourished, but moved. And that, I daresay, is the mark of greatness.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely amazing experience at Gurkhaas Grill & Bar Indian Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was attentive, the atmosphere was inviting, and the food… oh, the food was phenomenal. We started with the Gobi Manchurian and Chilli Chicken—both bursting with bold, authentic flavors. We ordered medium spicy, which delivered a real kick (fair warning for fellow spice-lightweights!), but we loved every bite. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were layered and thoughtful. A pleasant surprise was the complimentary papadum—always a classic Indian restaurant highlight and such a nice touch. For drinks, the Passionfruit Margarita and Lemon Drop cocktail were delicious and refreshing, striking the perfect balance with the spice from the food. For mains, we ordered the Mixed Grill Sizzler and it did not disappoint—succulent, perfectly seasoned meats, sizzling hot to the table. The Garlic Naan was fluffy and flavorful, and the Kashmiri Naan with a delicate sweet rose essence was a beautiful surprise. The daal makhani was also rich and aromatic, cooked to perfection. We were so full, we didn’t even make it to dessert—and still had food left to bring home. Generous portions, amazing flavors, and top-notch service. What made this experience even more special was meeting Binod, the humble and hardworking owner. He works side by side with his staff, making it almost impossible to tell he’s the boss—true leadership in action. His passion shows through in every detail of the restaurant. And the heart behind it all? Gurkhaas Grill & Bar is named in honor of the brave Gorkha soldiers of Nepal, known for their courage and honesty while serving in the Indian and British armies. This spirit of pride and respect is exactly what you feel as a guest here—welcomed, appreciated, and well-fed. Highly recommend this gem of a place. We’ll definitely be back!

Visited this place for dinner on a Friday evening with my family. We were a large group of 9 people, and we enjoyed it. The food is good. For appetizers, we ordered Chicken Pakora, French Fries (for the kids), and Momos. Tasted great. The Momos took a while to come out but I appreciate that everything is made from scratch in-house. For main course, we ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Saag Paneer, and Gurkhaas Signature Boneless Chicken Biriyani, Garlic Naan, and Butter Naan. Taste was great. At first appearance, I thought the potion size was small but it turned out to be perfect for our table. This place just started about 2 weeks prior to us visiting so I'm sure they are ironing out several things. I will surely visit again and give it another try. A few things that the restaurant could work on: 1. Each dish we ordered tasted quite close to each other in favor. Didnt get the signature taste from each one. Food was great though!Don't get me wrong. 2. Table service. We sat right next to a table that was used. The turn off was that all the used dishes and cutlery were on the table for the entire duration we were there. No one cleaned it out. It was a sore sight. 3. Restaurant temperature. It was one of those very cold nights in Houston. We were seated at a table close to the door. With the constant opening and closing of the door, it was cold in the restaurant, especially where we sat. Perhaps, they could better adjust the temperature based on the weather. The ambience is good. The deco is modern yet simple. Plenty of parking around the restaurant.

Went to lunch and I believe Thai Cottage used to be at this location. I saw Gurkhaas so I decided to give it a chance.

The restaurant is clean and inviting. However, service leaves much to be desired. On arrival, there was only one other table seated. I was seated promptly and provided a menu but my host never asked me what I'd like to drink. I was going to settle for water regardless but it was noteworthy that I was never even asked.

I put in my order and I'm asked spiciness level - which I've never been asked for Indian cuisine. I specify medium. The food order took at least 30 minutes. I was getting hungry and thinking 'this better be good for the wait...' I ordered chicken tikka kebab. The plate arrived. The chicken portion was generous but it was a little disappointing there was no other side - no starch whatsoever. I small cup of rice or naan would have been excellent - there was only a small bed of shredded cabbage and onions with the chicken. If my server/host had suggested creamed spinach or rajma to go with the dish, I might have taken that offer. But the server/host is way too shy to be taking orders.

With regards to the chicken - I used to really enjoy spicey food but my I don't tolerate it as much these days & I don't like something so spicey that I can't taste the original herb. That was the case with this chicken. The chicken was spicier than any hot Thai dish I've had. My lips burned and my forehead was sweating. I was looking for some kind of creamy mint sauce or something to cut down the heat - but my server was really no where to be found.

I think the chicken tikka would have been really good if not so hot and offered with something else.

It took 10 or 15 minutes to get my check. I left the customary 20% tip but I won't be...
