I recently had a highly disappointing experience at Sambal Chef and felt compelled to share my negative encounter. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment, especially during their closing hours. My visit around 8:30 pm turned into an ordeal that left a sour taste in my mouth.
Upon entering the restaurant, it was evident that the owner was in a state of extreme agitation. Instead of providing a welcoming environment, he hurriedly demanded our orders, clearly displaying his annoyance. It felt rushed and uncomfortable, making it difficult to enjoy the dining experience.
To make matters worse, halfway through our meal, the owner's teenage son abruptly placed the bill on the table next to ours. The owner's reaction was shockingly disproportionate as he exploded with anger, scolding his son right in front of us. The bill was abruptly transferred to our table, creating an incredibly tense and awkward atmosphere.
As we finished our meal, the owner hastily began removing our plates. Our young son was taking his time, and the owner responded with an angry glare, making us feel rushed and unwelcome. To our astonishment, he even went as far as taking away our son's plate before he had finished eating.
The final straw was when we stepped outside, only to witness the owner swiftly shutting the doors and turning off the lights. This gave the impression that they were more interested in closing up early than providing a satisfactory dining experience. I couldn't help but question whether the dishes were properly washed, given the rushed and dismissive attitude of the staff.
To top it off, I noticed the owner's crew waiting impatiently in a car outside, further indicating their eagerness to leave rather than prioritize customer satisfaction.
Considering the complete lack of professionalism, hostile demeanor, and disregard for customer comfort, I strongly discourage anyone from dining at Sambal Chef. It is disappointing to encounter such subpar service and unprofessional conduct from the owner and his team. I recommend seeking out alternative dining options in order to avoid a similarly unpleasant experience.
Remember, it is essential to provide customers with a welcoming and enjoyable dining environment, regardless of the establishment's...
Read moreThe food here is phenomenal! I was honestly very impressed with this restaurant. The building is smaller but good amount of seating space, the decor was no frills no thrills but the food speaks volumes! The roti and chicken curry dip was a great starter, the roti is fluffy and fresh and the chicken curry dip is rich and flavorful! My wife and I asked for a spoon to sip on it, it was so good! The beef and chicken satay, skewers we’re a strong follow up with amazing flavor, perfect seasoning and cooked to perfection. We got three entrees, fried spare ribs, rendered beef in sauce and pan fried noodles “wat tan hor.” The rendered beef was similar to an Indian goat or lamb curry in consistency and richness. The meat was tender and delicious. Fried spare ribs were tasty, crispy and served with sweet chili sauce. The Wat Tan Hor was a delicious vegetable and seafood mix with white clear sauce on flat wide rice noodles. I love the texture of the rice noodles and the sauce has great flavor.
I was very impressed and will absolutely recommend to friends and family. Also I love the tv with footage of Kuala Lampur. I always appreciate an authentic restaurant that has the hours long video of someone walking around the capital city youtube video playing. Puts me in the...
Read moreSambal Chef stands out for flavorful food, cleanliness, and friendly service. We stopped by for the first time a week ago and ordered roti canai, chicken satay, and eggplant with shrimp.
All the food was well seasoned and flavorful. The roti was light and fluffy. Dipped in the accompanying sauce, it became a perfect balance of texture and flavors that melted in my mouth. The chicken satay was perfectly cooked with a slight grill flavor. The sauce that it came with was sweet and buttery. Together, they created a harmony of flavors. The eggplant and shrimp was a stir fried dish and was a little too oily for me, but still tasted great.
Great customer service added to our pleasant experience. The owner came by a few times to check on us. We talked about his restaurant and Malaysian food. Next, he surprised us with a sample of a beef dish which was also delicious.
We would recommend Sambal Chef if you want flavorful Malaysian food at reasonable prices and friendly service. We have added it to our restaurant rotation and will be back to try the rest...
