I ate dinner here last night with a friend. We ordered the Tom Kha Gal coconut soup. I got it with beef and she ordered chicken. It had an incredible rich flavor and was full of meat and vegetables. They offered five levels of spice. My friend ordered #1 and said it was not spicy. I ordered #2 and it had just the right amount for me -a pleasant slow mild burn. I don't think I would want it spicier than that. The serving was large - with ample rice on the side. (You might end up with delicious take-home leftovers .)
We also enjoyed a small bowl of the house soup they served beforehand which was delicious too. I think this will be my new go-to local restaurant.
The atmosphere is great. Its small but not noisy. Service was quick and very attentive from the moment we walked in the door and for the entire time we were there. We easily could have enjoyed our meal and gotten on our way. But we sat and talked having an intimate conversation without feeling rushed. A large group came in for a birthday party and they were also served with the same full service you'd expect at any fine restaurant In the area.
Check it out, you won't be disappointed. If you are in Pearland on business looking for great food, it will be worth the drive from wherever you are staying. Prices are very reasonable for dinner ($10.99 each for dinner-sized soup) and I noticed they have a lunch menu. I can't wait to try the curry and explore the other...
Read moreThis place used to be great. This visit. Not so much. First off, their health inspection rating is a C! Had I not already ordered and paid online I’d have turned right around and gone somewhere else. I ordered and paid through GrubHub. I ordered at 6:35p and was given a window of 6:55p-7:05p. I arrived at 7. My food was not ready. By 7:35p my food was still not ready! Here is what is really upsetting. Even though I ordered an hour ago and was standing in the restaurant for 30 mins, two other parties walked in, self seated, ordered, and WERE SERVED FOOD! I expressed my frustration and disappointment in the long wait to the waiter/cashier, and as other reviewers have noted, he simply does not care. I was met with an emotionless shrug before I asked him to go check on it and he walked off. He finally bagged my food, pushed it toward me on the counter and without saying a word, walked off. No apology for the wait, no here you go, nothing. I could tell the other patrons were equally disappointed in his lack of attentiveness to anything. When I got home I found the crab wontons to be cold and the pad sen mi, which I’ve ordered a few times in the past, to be missing ingredients and very bland. This place has tanked and will not be getting any more of my money. Sorry Thai Jasmine Express, but you need to get it together or you are done for. Wish I could get a refund on my time and money for tonight’s...
Read moreEveryone’s taste buds may vary but I gave this place a shot after reading many good reviews. I placed an order for their Thai basil fried rice and pad Thai online which was pretty straight forward. Got home and visually, I’ve never seen both dish look like this. Just….. bland if you will. The Thai basil fried rice that I’m used to is usually darker in color with various greens to make it pop. I’ve looked at different photos of peoples pad Thai and mine definitely seemed not well made. No green onion or any veggies as a matter of fact. It also tasted strange. It was definitely more of a bitter taste than what I’m used to. They seemed to use a different noodle style (pho noodle style). But overall, BOTH dish was not very flavorful. Actually they wasn’t flavorful at all. The spice level definitely was there but as far as the basil(ness) taste in the rice or that universal pad Thai taste we all love, they definitely was not there. So I basically ate spicy white rice with bland chicken and spicy pho noodles with bitter beef slices. The next morning all I could do was sit at the toilet with a HORRIBLE upset stomach. I mean just look at the paleness in the lime and how dark the lime skin is. Definitely old old limes. This will probably most likely be my last...
