The first doctor on call had a good bedside manner, paid attention to my complaint, order meds for pain and tests for diagnosis in order to rule out a blood clot. The nurse was also very attentive and informative. She answered all of my questions and did not act as if I was imposing on her time. However, there was a shift change and I didn't see a doctor or a nurse for about a hour or a little more. The next doctor swept in, introduced herself and said, "you don't have a blood clot" and left. The second nurse came in, introduced herself and proceeded to give me dismissal papers. I asked her what the doctor's diagnosis was and she said "you don't have a blood clot." However, in spite of the medicine they had given me, I was still in a lot of pain. She said that the doctor was going to treat my pain as if it was a muscle spasm. I told her it was not a muscle spasm (I have chronic muscle spasms) and had my doctor been in the office, I would not have come to the ER for a diagnosis. I came because the pain was persistent, consistent and severe no matter what I took or how I treated it. She said she would get the doctor. The doctor came back in, leaned against the counter, folded her arms and asked, "what's going on?" I explained the entire complaint again, adding that I did not have a blood clot. She looked perplexed and muttered "Hmmm," as if looking to me for a diagnosis. I asked her what she thought it could be and she said, well, it could be anything, I don't know. I asked if maybe it could vascular or if it could be gout. She said she didn't know. It didn't seem as if she was going to do anything further because we just looked at each other for a few minutes. Finally, I said that if it was not a life or death issue, that I could call my doctor on Monday. She agreed that it was not a life or death issue and I should "followup" with my doctor. She advised that if my pain got worse, to come back. (As if.)
I was very disappointed in this visit because I arrived in pain and left in pain. I understand that the ER is a place where they treat trauma patients and that my pain may have been insignificant compared to someone experiencing "real" trauma. However, I am sure you will bill my insurance just as you would as if I came in having a life or...
Read moreI went to HCA Pearland ER. The nurses were great in the ER, and I will rate them a 10. It was clean in the waiting area and bathroom. I had to have a couple of CT scans and X rays because I fell at home that afternoon and hurt my head, chest, stomach, legs, and foot. I was in a lot of pain, and my pain tolerance was high. When it is a 10 to others, it is 2 or 3 to me. My pain felt like 15 or more last night. Blood work and UA were done, and they found out I have an infection. They wanted to keep me for observation to see why I am falling. We went to the second floor, room 212, no bed was in it. One was sitting outside of the room, which did not look clean to my standards. VICTOR, my CNA said it was clean trying to be funny he asked if you wanted 1800 thread comfort, and said you should have bought it with you from home. The blanket on the bed was off yellow, it also looked as if someone had been sitting on it. I went to wash my hand, and the knobs were dirty, so I went into the bathroom the same thing, I wiped the room and bathroom down with the cleaning product on the counter. The floor dirty and tray that was beside the bed were nasty, too. I was so discussed. I know my blood pressure hit roof by then. Top it off, I was asked not to get out of bed with calling KIM, who was supposed to be my nurse on duty. Should have knew she was not going to be available for me. I could see that when she entered into the room. She was too busy typing, saying make sure you call don't want you to fall down again never really looking at me, If I have to get out of bed. I called the desk 2 times a person answered and said she was going to let her KIM know I needed her she never came, and the pain was unbelievable at that time, and I had to unrinate no still no KIM. Around 4 a.m. Uche who came to take my vitals helped me to the restroom. I would like to thank him. That room was filthy, nasty and dirty I would never recommend it to anyone not even my worst enemy to be admitted in the hospital. The first post was removed. The ER Nurses and Staff, in that area workers l bow down to you. But Kim and Victor you need to be more concerned about your patients. You do not have to beg a patient to stay if you do the right thing for them. Those cell phone should...
Read moreArrived Friday 8am from Pearland EMS(they need more blankets) I will give it 5 stars for the staff for one. The cleanliness two and the patience to deal with us, the patients and family three. I agree below with Jeff the ER food is a hit or miss! The hospital was so full that you had to be served food there, but my mom had not eaten in over 24 hours, and they served her an enchilada? What happened to chicken soup and crackers?? Jelllo. She was also there for diabetic episode, and they had her as a cardiac patient. Yes the MD's are MIA. A second one came in after arrival and was going to get a chest Xray when we already had one. He never even read the chart or past orders or why we were there. They ran in quickly about it being Covid positive and that is what 2nd md was focused on mostly. The RN's run the show so get a good one and stay with your person. Know what they are doing so the next one does not do it again. Kind of a tag your it kind of thing. We saw an MD at 8am Friday and never again until late the next day. Shift change NO MD. Just new nurses. NO ONE came to discuss her labs with us! They also require to test you for everything, and of course, she had covid. We came by ambulance with a below 20 blood sugar and the hospital put we came in for that and covid. NO WE DID NOT. That was your finding!!! They also never even treated her for covid. Nothing! So worried about it and did nothing. But she had a clear chest xray and CT. She only had a phlegm cough that actually got worse on arrival. But has had that since November. The worried MD we stayed with said it was not a bad covid. Finally got a room Saturday about 3pm. Those beds are Horrible and people are in them non mobile for days!!! Huge hole you sink in your back is in pain. The food there was great. Lots of choices and the cafeteria staff was so sweet! PT staff and OT Staff were also great! It could be a bit quieter. Someone had a heavy hand closing a door. Always slamming it! If we needed to go again, we would come back, but note if full your in the hallway. Some people had been there for over 2 days no room, and other hospitals don't want them either! Our medical situation is sad people. Lack of RN's. At least there was some training going on too....
