My husband and I had reservations at The St. Clair (required). We received a text 30 minutes prior to our dinner time. That was a very nice touch as sometimes we get busy and lose track of time. We arrived about 5 minutes early and we were seated immediately by two very lovely hostesses. Our Waitress was very prompt on introducing herself and getting our water to us. We were also served rolls with freshly made garlic butter (so yummy!!).
We ordered our appetizers and beverages. I highly recommend the lamb lollipops (10/10). As you could tell we didn’t waste our time taking pictures of the lamb before we served ourselves! I had the tamarind & rosemary margarita (10/10 and I don’t like tamarind!!).
We then ordered our entrees. My husband ordered the ribeye and added a lobster tail (he was disappointed that the wagyu was sold out, but more of a reason for us to come back!) and I got the cab filet. The steaks were cooked to perfection.
For the sides, just know they are “family sized” so don’t let the price of sides shock you. I assure you there is more than enough!! My husband ordered the seasonal risotto and he said the mushrooms by themselves were absolutely delectable (I dislike mushrooms, so I did not partake). I order the baked potato (it came with two large potatoes).
After dinner we were offered the option of dessert. Luckily, we saved room! I ordered the crème brûlée (divine!! Light and not overly sweet. The only thing I would change about it would be to torch the topping a little more so it makes a nice shell). My husband ordered the chocolate torte. If you love chocolate, this one is for you! So rich and creamy!
Overall, absolutely amazing for our hometown! It’s a little pricey, sure, but you will not find this quality near here! So come on and treat yourself! Give them a try!! I know we will be back with our family...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at The Tavern, and it was an experience worth sharing! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and vibrant, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.
What truly made the night exceptional was our server, Victoria. Her professionalism and warm personality immediately stood out. She went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible time, providing recommendations and attentive service that enhanced our overall dining experience.
Victoria's expertise wasn't limited to her service; she also showcased her impressive mixology skills with a selection of her own signature cocktails. Each drink was a delightful adventure in itself:
Screamin Mimi: A tantalizing blend that perfectly balanced sweet and tangy flavors, leaving a refreshing kick with every sip.
Chupacabra: This drink had a mysterious allure, combining unique ingredients that created a rich, bold taste with a hint of spice, making it an instant favorite.
Mexican Chocolate Martini: A decadent treat for the senses, this martini was a harmonious mix of chocolatey goodness with a subtle Mexican twist, ideal for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini: True to its name, this martini was a delightful liquid dessert, capturing the essence of the classic cake with a tropical flair.
Victoria's creativity and passion for mixology shone through in every sip, making each cocktail a memorable part of the evening. Her dedication to her craft and genuine enthusiasm for providing top-notch service truly made our night special.
If you're looking for a place with fantastic food, an inviting atmosphere, and exceptional service, The Tavern is the spot to be. And if you're lucky enough to have Victoria as your server, you're in for a treat that goes beyond the menu. Highly...
Read moreTHREE STARS for being a Pell City/Freeway/Lake location. I would give one star in a Metro, but where a place is matters. This is only one visit, but the dining room, menu and presentation are what skewed this and all was 'as-desired' by management. FOOD- We had oysters Rockefeller- overdone but otherwise fine. Entrees of crab cakes and sea bass were... Crab cakes were mainly filler. Maybe 10% crab. Unacceptable at Capn D's or Red Lobster much less 'fine dining' 5 hours from the Gulf. They were served on a bed of spring greens with a light dressing. Crab flavored fritters on dressed greens basically. Sea bass was a decent portion, well prepared. It was paired with some small tomatoes. BOTH entrees needed a carb. Polenta, potatoes, pasta...SOMETHING. SERVICE- fine. Had to ask for an ice bucket for a bottle of wine. ATMOSPHERE- No. This room is just a curtained off area from the 'Tavern'. Hard to sell a 'Fine Dining' menu when loud, sunburned folks are eating burgers and wings within sight. Our table looked out on...the busy parking lot, and flip flops under the curtain. My well-meaning advice is to expand the Tavern space and/or keep the St. Clair as an 'event', not a space. Brunch, Valentines, special 'menu' days or weekends. Let Chef flex his skill for special occasions. It's not possible to have a nice dining experience with TGI McFunsters behind a shared curtain. Take over Jersey Mikes space. Find a house in downtown PC. Buy a double wide on the lake. There is no 'synergy' here that benefits diners. I visited based on lake friends recommendations, but every one of them was MORE enthusiastic about the Tavern, so maybe this is on me. I wish these folks every success, but I wish I had the evening and the tab to...
