El Charro Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Pella

I have ate here a few times through the years, since I am not from Pella. I can't say it's the best authentic Mexican I have had. There's better choices imo in Grinnell and Oskaloosa. I'm not saying the main courses are terrible, but I am always disappointed in their fried ice cream. Why are the chips throughout the ice cream instead of one solid piece under the scoops? Its like eating ice cream with cardboard in it. Also agree with another reviewer the mac n cheese on the kids menu was like buying a box of Aldi's generic mac n cheese and putting too...

Real Mexican food in Iowa! As a native Texan I have pretty high standards for Mexican cuisine and El Charro does not disappoint. My travelling companions and I have been in Pella for less than a month and we've visited this restaurant on several occasions already! So glad we found this place i just spent the best anniversary ive had with my husband yet! With easter landing on the same day this year was doubtful we would find anywhere to go but just happen to drive by and see it was one of the few places open and not only was their food amazing so was their service! I will always highly recommend this place to everyone i know and my husband and i have officially decided to make this our new atleast once a month date night place!
