UPDATE: Wanted to edit because while my experience review is still valid. I want to say Thank you to Shannon Pub Guest Management who reached out, asked questions, then proceed to address my issues and concerns quickly and professionally. We will be giving The Pub another try and I will update my review accordingly.
My group of 16 decided to check out The Pub for the St. Paddy's event, hoping for a festive and enjoyable evening. However, our experience was marred by poor and dismissive behavior from the Management.
Upon arrival, we found a spot and settled at a table, eagerly anticipating food and drinks. However, when I stepped out briefly with my husband, we were denied re-entry despite having wristbands and an open tab because they were at capacity. The security was nice and understanding even calling the manager over for us to talk to. The manager's dismissive and rude attitude only exacerbated the situation, refusing to acknowledge our our open tab, food and drinks waiting for us. He was still dismissive when the server came over to let him now our food and drinks were at our table waiting for us. He simply did not care insisting we wait outside and telling us " If you dont like it you can leave " Then proceeded to let in a couple which I am guessing he personally knew in ahead of us while still " at capacity "
Despite our persistence, we were made to wait unnecessarily long until he decided that we can go back in, resulting in lukewarm food and drinks upon our return to our empty table. We drank our beers warm and we're patiently waited to order another round but our server was no where t be found. Seeing the manager again I decided to let him know that our food and drinks were unsatisfactory due to the long wait outside. The manager lacked empathy and was unwilling to address my concerns, even rudely dismissing me when I politely requested replacement 2 drinks. He insisted that he would not be giving me 2 free beers and that if i did not like it I could leave. I let him know he was rude and lacked customer service skills to which he responded by having me kicked. I told him i would have to close or tab and get my husband and he said I could text him from outside. My husband tried to closeout & still could not find our server. Then we noticed the $70 charge for wings and 5 warm beers. This managers lack of customer service truly soured the entire experience.
Despite the commendable efforts of the security and servers, who remained courteous and attentive amidst the chaos, the manager's behavior overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. The lack of proper management severely detracted from our enjoyment.
While I cannot comment on the decor or atmosphere due to the crowded event, the wings, cheese ball, and spring roll I was able to try were satisfactory, the overall experience was tarnished by the manager's unprofessionalism. It's disappointing that a group of paying customers, eager to enjoy a day out, was met with such disrespect and indifference. In the end, our whole group chose to take our business elsewhere, hoping for a more welcoming and respectful environment.
In conclusion, while The Pub may offer decent food and attentive servers, the lack of effective management and poor customer service overshadow any positives, leaving much to be desired in terms of...
Read moreThis was our first time at the Pub and as you walk in, it's like a real Irish Pub the look, the feel and the food is great, but I am giving this place 3 stars because of the service. First off we were seated and no one came by for about 10 mins, finally the manager ce by and asked us of anyone had been by and we said no, he immediately came and took our drink and appetizer order. He was very nice and recommend several items and explained what apps were hot vs cold - Which was greatly appreciated. He then told another waitress to tell our server to come take care of us while he ran to another table to do the same. Our waiter finally shows up and is cool as a cucumber nice but carefree, we placed our order and my husband ordered a beer and we didn't see him again for a while and when we did he asked my husband if he had ordered something to drink cause he forgot. Hubby told him he had ordered a beer and told him what kind. Beer finally comes. Food comes by way of another server and the food is delish. I had the fish and chips, hubby had the Belhaven Burger. My fish was mostly breading so of the piece of fish presented 25% was empty breading but when I finally got to the fish, it was amazing - soft, flaky and tasty. Hubbys burger was undercooked but delicious in parts that were at the proper temp. Hubby had the gouda mac as a side and it was good & the perfect size. The chips w my fish were also good as was the tartar sauce. Unfortunately I needed more tartar and since our waiter was MIA, I was left longing for more. He finally showed up for me to ask him for more but by the time he brought it I was already over it and my food was cold so I didn't eat the rest.
So we wanted dessert, but no one came by our table for 30 mins, not to clear the dirty dishes, not for a refill not to take our dessert order. While waiting on someone to show up you could hear the manager telling other servers check on this table, check on the patio to see if they need anything. So yeah you get the picture. They know they have an issue w service.
The food here is good, very good but the service needs improvement...like serious improvement.
The restaurant wasn't crazy full or even half full for service to be that way.
I would like to say we would come back here, but we probably won't cause the service was lackluster at best. It's a shame because the food is...
Read moreTremendous ambience, great food and drink, great service all make The Pub a great destination whether it's mealtime or just relaxing over a few drinks.
The dinner menu is varied although generally with a British flair, featuring a number of staples from that land alongside more typical sports bar fare. (If I have one complaint, it is here - that there aren't more traditional British offerings on the menu, like roast beef and Yorkshire pudding or Cornish pastie.)
A couple of delicious apps (a Scotch Egg and Naughty Chips - an upscale version of chips and gravy, and ask for a spoon with it so you can get all the gravy!) led the way along with a perfectly poured Black-and-Tan.
For my first time at the restaurant, however, I had to try their iconic headline entree, the Fish and Chips. The Pub prides itself on this dish, and for good reason - it's excellent! A large filet of haddock, lightly breaded and fried, with a very generous pile of chips and ramekin of delicious slaw, and I shouldn't forget the homemade tartar to go with. Paired with a Young's Double Chocolate sweet stout, it'd be hard to ask for a better meal!
All this was provided with superb service by George, who made the experience easy in every way possible. All of this was provided at a fairly reasonable price in a charmingly warm and comfortable setting.
If you appreciate these things, then The Pub is the place...
