Went in last night (Saturday) with a friend. Everything was going fine, we had wine and appetizers first then ordered dinner, the factory chopped salad (something I order every time) and she gets the pasta. Then the food comes out wrong. Pasta is extremely undercooked, hard, clumped together, cold. My salad was brought out with chilled, shredded chicken salad style chicken (as it states that it’s made with grilled chicken on the menu). When we saw the waiter next we brought the incorrect meals to his attention, he said he would have both remade, and that we shouldn’t have to pay for something that came out wrong. We weren’t upset at all knowing this would be an easy fix and we understand mistakes happen. He sends a manager over, which we didn’t ask for, her name was Machiote, to apologize that our food came out wrong and even confirmed with my friend if still wanted to keep the pancetta in the pasta. We told her it was no worries at all. After waiting for over 30 minutes, we still had not received our food. At this point, we didn’t even want it, but we’re not given any chance to cancel it as no one came over to us. When the waiter came over, we told him we had been waiting a long time and asked for the bill and that we had to get going. 10 minutes later, He brought the food in bags to go with the bill, and to our surprise, nothing was taken off of the check, even though all of our dinner items had come out wrong and then we waited 40+ minutes at this point for the remade food (when there were very few people left in the restaurant). We explained this to the waiter, he agreed and apologized, and sent over the manager once he admitted that he had no idea that the food items weren’t taken off the bill. The manager, Machiote, came over and we explained our concerns to her kindly and she began aggressively arguing with us, saying there was nothing wrong with the food in the first place… I then explained to her once again what was wrong with the food.. that she was fully aware of because we discussed this already 40 minutes prior when she came over the first time. How is she going to say this to me after already apologizing for the food coming out incorrectly? I said how the salad was supposed to come with grilled chicken, and that it even states it on the menu. Once again, she tried to argue with me that “they make changes to the menu all the time and they changed that on the menu”…. what????? so I brought up the next issue how we waited 40+ minutes for or food, she then decides to argue again and says “your food did not take that long” ... excuse me? How would she have even known that? we were appalled.I’ve never been treated this way by a manager in my life. Once I said that we absolutely did wait that long she said okay would you like me to go ask the manager in the back and bring him out? I am confused at this point, im not sure what she means by this because she is a manager and I don’t see how bringing out someone who I haven’t seen all night would help the situation. At this point I’m over it and tell her to forget it and nevermind, she didn’t even say a word before she walked away. This woman did not care to help whatsoever, make accommodations, and then argued with a customer. Are you kidding me… this is unheard of. She did not apologize for a single error. As someone who has worked in a restaurant for many years I understand mistakes do happen, but they need to be compensated for. I’m also aware that this is NEVER acceptable to speak to/ treat a customer. Machiote is extremely rude, unprofessional, and sure knows how to make a customer feel unwelcome and undervalued. Who argues with a customer? I will NEVER be returning due to the way we were treated/this experience. And looking forward to sharing my experience. I recommend that someone teach this woman how to appropriately provide adequate customer service, and treat guests with respect. She should also probably learn the menu! Horrible human being, and useless. 0 stars if I could. Screenshot of menu item (grilled chicken)...
Read moreI’ve been going to Cheesecake Factory to their different locations, but I have to say that the quality of their food has gone down in a big way and their prices have spiral up out of control. TCF has been known for huge portions, consistent food at regular prices. You could go there with a family, date or bigger party and know you would eat well, and feel you got what you pay for. Not a fancy or expensive restaurant, but a family place. Not anymore. Last night we went to the PPines location, and imagine that being a chain restaurant, the quality, size and prices is the same in all locations. Let’s start with prices, which seem to have come up in the last couple of years to a level that’s is not affordable anymore. Damn Covid! As an example, we went in last night, only had 2 entrees and 2 beers, no appetizer, no dessert. Our bill came up to around $70 w/o taxes or tip. Add those up and you are over $80 easily. At the end, not very affordable for a regular couple trying to have a weekly dinner out. Maybe for some people may not sound like much, but only two years ago, the same meal would cost you $45-50. A regular entree is priced between $22 and $30, an appetizer almost $20 and even a fountain soda is charged $5. Last night I had fish and chips and my wife had spaghetti with meatballs. I remember going there for the same dish and receiving 2-3 large fillets of Cod, with a good coating making crispy and tasty. This time I received 5 small pieces of an unknown fish, with a batter that was not crispy nor tasty. The fries were not real fries, but the kind of fries you’ll get at a fast food restaurant. The manager told me they have changed their portion to one filet cut in five pieces. I would have been probably better eating it at Long John Silver and of course at a fraction of the $25 price. My wife’s spaghetti and meatballs consisted on a huge bowl of spaghetti with only 3 medium size meatballs. The tomate sauce was very garlicky. You can smell and taste the garlic on every bite, or from across the table. I like garlic, but it’s supposed to be subtle, not so strong. And the meatballs were ok in taste, but again not what they used to be in size, for again $25. Service was average, the waiter was just an order taker. The manager was apologetic about the change in portions and increase in prices, but just offered me to order something else and wait another 15-20’ for another dish, or take off $7 and charged me for the lunch portion. Not good enough… If you live close to PPines, I recommend the fish and chips at The Pub in Pembroke Gardens, well served with a large, large fillet properly battered to a crisp and potato chips English style that looked like there were cut in their own kitchen, not coming from a package. At $22.95, a much better value and experience. If you are not in for a huge fillet, they have a “wee” portion, about 1/2-3/4 of the big one for $18.95. Pair it with a nice pint of draft beer of your taste (mine is Guinness) and you’ll be really satisfied with your meal. So, very disappointed on our weekly dinner out at the Cheesecake Factory. Don’t think I’ll give TCF another chance. It’s becoming harder and harder to find a good restaurant with consistent good food and affordable prices. It seems (without getting into politics) that inflation is eating away the little pleasures we used to have as a...
