The place is sooo beautiful inside, but when we arrived the place was empty with no hostess or personnel in sight. We called out "Hello" time and time again, then actually had to search through the whole restaurant to actually find anyone. When we finally came across a man way in the back, behind a draw, he told us to go sit down and someone would be right with us. We seated ourselves and after waiting a bit, a waitress walked up and rudely threw a basket of chips across the table at us, not even saying hello, making eye contact or asking if we'd like something to drink. She just threw the basket, turned on her heel and smugly walked off with her angry face. We were shocked! I was here visiting from out of town and my friend had been showing me around and taking me out to some of the nicer restaurants here in Pendleton. She was telling me what a great place Mazatlan Mexican restaurant is to eat, so I was really looking forward to having some great Mexican food. Soon they sent a second service person to our table.. this one was polite, professional and friendly. She took our orders. My friend asked her which one of them was our waitress, and she said our waitress is the first person that came to our table. At that point my friend told her what the waitress did, how rudely she treated us and that she wasn't giving her a tip. Our food came and we ate, but the whole experience had already been ruined. I couldn't even enjoy my meal.. before leaving, the rude waitress came by with a forced smile and a low voice asking if she could get us anything else. We said no and got up to leave. In the end, my friend did leave a tip for the one service worker who wasn't our waitress, but did the job anyway.. I'm sorry I can't give this restaurant a good review. I can't tell you how good the food was, because the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. What I can say is, I WON'T BE BACK, and I'll be sure to...
Read moreThe food was okay. Maybe being from California makes me a bit more critical of Mexican food because we have so many down there and know what real authentic Mexican food is like.
I don't expect perfection, but the shrimp was a bit tough. Clearly not marinated, just thawed, thrown in sauce and cooked a few minutes. The cream sauce was good. My friends said their fish and shrimp was the same (chewy and bland). One other person had chicken and shredded beef which he said was good. I think if we go back I'll skip the seafood.
As for the shrimp or seafood cocktail... JUST NO (unless your a redneck that doesn't know any better). It's just seafood or shrimp thrown in a bowl and they give you a bottle of Hunt's ketchup... UM... excuse me, that is the laziest shrimp and seafood cocktails I've ever seen! An insult to shrimp everywhere. We sent it back. Someone needs to tell the cook get off his culo and do it right. It's not even hard (mix seafood in a big bowl with tomato sauce, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lemon and lime juice, seeded and diced jalepenos and let it marinate at least an hour). I know they mostly serve gringos, but c'mon now. You know if your abuelita saw that she'd slap the mierda out of you.
Rice had a lot of hard/stale pieces. Not fresh! Fajitas should be tangy, NOT SWEET like sugar.
3 stars because your crema was actually pretty good and you also got me buzzed on a delicious...
Read moreThis place has the worst customer service. At the end of our meal my friend went to smoke, he asked me to watch his two kids. As he was outside smoking someone ran after him and asked him if he was going to pay his bill. So, I paid the bill for him because he was confused and had already received a bad customer service experience from them on a previous day. I spoke to the lady at the front and asked her if there was any reason she had someone run out and accuse my friend of not paying his bill and unfortunately she did not have a good response. Seeing how we all arrived as a "party" and he was the only one that stepped out, why they would charge after him and accuse him of trying to skip paying the bill. I then tried to explain to her that next time if she was unsure if someone did or didn't pay bill she shouldn't automatically accuse of trying to dine and dash and use a little more tact so that no one is offended. She was not very receptive to this and told me if she wasn't sure someone paid the paid then that was that and if I or he got offended that sucked. Basically disregarding the moral of the whole conversation which was to be nicer and watch how you go about talking to the person you are accusing of skipping the bill or just use common sense. His kids were still there at the table for...
