Visited the Penn Hills store @ 4:00 pm on 7/3/18 to purchase food items to go, Only one seemingly very young person was taking orders and working the counter. Approximately 10 + people were either waiting for their food or to place an order. Great confusion was going on,. After about 7 minutes, my order was taken, however, I was not given a cup for my drink to use at the drink station? When orders were ready by the food preparation workers, the individual counter person would carry them out to the small crowd and ask them if that's what they ordered,. Many people got the wrong food or were missing part of their orders,. After waiting @ 35 minutes, a food prep person came out from behind the counter and announced she had an order which matched what I had ordered,. As I went to pick it up. Menu item L-3, another lady cut in front of me and said, that was what she ordered, down to the specific sides? I backed off. @ 10 minutes later, all persons had been issued foods, which included about 6 - 10 people who came in after me! The overhead Orders-screen went blank,. So, after waiting about 45 minutes from the time I entered the store,I was asked by the counter person:. ". What did you order? ",. I showed her my receipt and politely requested a refund of my money,. An apparent upset Manager came from the back and opened the register to refund my money. As he was doing this, a food - prep. person nicely offered me some sort of voucher to use at my next visit? I rejected it and told her I would not be back. -. too much mis-management and confusion for an alleged " Fast Food...
Read moreThe lady that took our order was not very engaging however she processed our order efficiently. The food was prepared quickly and brought to our table. My wife ordered a single plain hammer and fries which she was very satisfied with even thought we had to ask for it since we didn’t see it on the menu and had no idea how much it cost. I order the fish, chicken and shrimp combo. The chicken was tender the fries were fresh and the shrimp were a good portion however my fish was dry and over cooked and the slaw had way too much dressing on it. As for the atmosphere the restaurant was very dirty and in disrepair. The ceiling fans in the atrium area looked filthy and probably would be a hazard it they were to be put in use. The bathrooms were dirty and run down but the floor was the most concerning issue, it was filthy and so slippery you had to be very cautious while walking and it was best if you held onto something to avoid slipping and falling. The walls and many surfaces are in need of a good cleaning and painting and the ceiling could use some attention where it had been patched. The windows throughout the restaurant need debris removed and cleaned. Outside the restaurant the parking lot needs top coated and the parking lines and markings repainted. There was a lot of trash outside that needs tended to end the landscaping could use some attention as well. I hope you take this criticism as a positive measure in getting this place some attention so our next visit will more appetizing. I have been a long time patron of this company and would miss it just due to...
Read moreThe food is well made with crispy fish, fairly well done shrimp, coleslaw, and waffle fries.
Why the bad ratings then? Dine in is plain gross. The floors are slick with oil and the dine in area was in need of a degreasing or any wipe down of tables or chairs. We came in before noon so it was not a matter of being too busy or anything,it just wasn't done. They were out of root beer, which while disappointing, I sympathize because if a truck doesn't come it doesn't come. However, the drinks we did get had to come from behind the counter and tasted almost moldy or somehow off. I thought it might have just been me but my mom mentioned her Pepsi wasted weird it while I was thinking the same thing about my mountain dew. We ended up throwing them out after tasting each other's drinks to make sure we weren't just imagining things so there went $6. The final issue was the restrooms. The one bathroom had the tp holder hanging askew which I don't blame them for not being able to immediately fix because I get it, things cost money. However, the footprints on the wall in the other stall and no hand soap were enough to finish the visit and make me not want to return again. I had some great memories growing up associated with long John's, and this location used to be my favorite due to how well maintained and delicious it was. It's unfortunately a far cry from its former days and I wouldn't be surprised if it's not...
