Hermitage Bakery — Restaurant in Pennsylvania

I wish I could give no stars because I would. If you would have asked me before (with over 2 years of prior business,) I would have said the bakery was awesome. However, after getting the last cake we got, I have to say that the cake was awful and even worse yet was the treatment we received when we tried to return it! Since I was the last person to taste the cake, I didn't even know how awful it was until everyone was served and about half the cake was gone. No one was rude enough to tell me how bad it was and then I tasted it! Eww, Crisco and flour! When I told the people at the bakery, they actually told me that there should be a whole cake to return since it was so bad. I explained that I had a houseful of people that I served before I even tasted it, but no dice. As it was, I returned half the cake to them and still, no credit, no refunds, no satisfaction and that was by order of the owner herself. I will NEVER buy from them again,...

I'm giving one star because I cannot give zero. After calling several local bakeries this was the only bakery that could make the cake I wanted. All I had to do was bring in a picture. So I did. The lady quickly said that she could make it. I was excited! When I picked up the cake the day of the party, I was highly disappointed. It looked like my 1st grader helped decorate the cake. There was a huge blob of icing in the center of the cake with his name on it. The cake was not a flat cake, it had a hump in the center. And to top it off, the taste was terrible. The cake itself was not moist and the icing tasted like crisco and flour. I contacted the owner via text, because they don't have email, with pictures for proof and I never got a response. I will never go back and I highly recommend not...

Stopped in to order unicorn cake for my daughters birthday. I told the cake decorator I would email photo of idea. I never hear back from email so I called in and spoke to employee who called her daughter, the cake decorator, on speaker. She seemed annoyed to be bothered when she wasn’t in the store. She called me the next day and I explained to her it’s a party of 8 people & didn’t need to be huge. She wanted to add a tier to make the unicorn and said it would be $37 for the cake. My husband went to pick up the day of the party and came home to tell me he paid $57.00. It did not look that impressive for $57! & the buttercream wasn’t all that great tasting. I was DEFINITELY disappointed. I probably won’t order another cake there especially not...
