The food is rated so well, I hate to leave anything contrary. My wife is the Italian fan so I’ll * her part. For starters, we didn’t have a reservation. If you are driving more than 15 minutes, CALL THEM & make a reservation first! The staff was VERY accommodating though. It was our 6th anniversary, we have a 10mo old baby & God gave us an opportunity to get seated quickly. Service was fantastic and very informative. The dishes are quite complex and require some real prep and skill to deliver a divine, complex dish.…
Wife-Joey’s Baked gf tortellini was fantastic! The sauce, cheese, & pasta perfectly cooked and combined perfectly. The ROMAN’S DIRTY OIL & GARLIC with shrimp was fantastic! Plenty of decent sized shrimp, a lot of flavor with garlic & herbs! My part- Lots of garlic which I love. You can order any dish with a different heat level and I opted for “Hot.” These dishes are made with plenty of flavorful ingredients so the need for any heat wasn’t necessary, as the heat is also with fresh peppers! Anyone who tries fresh peppers knows the heat can vary and this was a mistake on my part! Way too hot to really enjoy, however; I did pull as many of the chunks of peppers I could easily remove out & reheated the next day, the dish was much better! (Which it would’ve been that great to begin with had I not asked for it the way that I did. As for Quantity, there is no small portion so bring your appetite!!! The bread was bland for both of us especially in comparison to the loaded flavor of our entree’s. I got DAD’S MUSHROOMS from the raving reviews. It is a good complex dish but seemed a little over diced on all of the ingredients. It might have been better spread on a flavorful bread/toast but not necessarily as an appetizer on its own.
Ultimately, try this place and a dish as it comes and then modify at a 2nd visit if you feel it lacked something. Finally, the tiramisu was fantastic. Not too heavy and not too light. Not too sweet...
Read moreI've heard good things about this restaurant a decided to go for my birthday dinner. I'm very forgiving of restaurants when they have an off day, but the stars aligned for us to have a bad first visit, and my 1 star review. Things you should know: 1.You need a reservation. Soft drinks are by the can, no free refills. Appetizer menu is sparse. You may wait an HOUR AND A HALF after your reservation to be served your entrée. (We only ordered salad, no apps, so this was a LONG wait!) Your chicken parm may come sliced on top of your pasta with no mozzarella, just sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Your chicken may be VERY overcooked, with some pieces inedible. The meatballs aren't like normal meatballs, they are very thick, have a weird texture, along with a spicy-hot & strange mint-like flavor. Your pasta with creamy butter garlic sauce over angel hair has a some-what fishy flavor, and becomes a big mound of glue when it begins to cool down. The vodka sauce is SWEET and spicy with no discernable meat. The Dirty Oil and Garlic Sauce has an odd, unexpected, flavor that it would be better without, and it's a little spicy-hot. The Medium Spiced Alfredo has jalapenos, and is not spicy--but it's delicious! The Greek salad dressing is wonderful. If you get the full size for $12, you can share with a table of 4. No salad is served with dinner, but the bread and balsamic, olive oil, & herbs is all very nice. The chocolate cake is not normal chocolate cake, it's a chocolate flourless torte, which is like a thick dark-chocolate mousse. But it's very nice. The service is good. Check the bill and make sure the tip was not added already.
We were seated for our reservation at 7. Had salad by 7:15. At 7:45 we were told they were cooking our food. We didn't see our food until 8:30. They comped my overdone chicken parm, and gave me free "chocolate cake," which I took home. I'm just not interested in...
Read moreMamma mia! This place ain't no Olive Garden, folks. This is the real deal, straight outta nonna's kitchen and into your heart (and stomach). It's family-owned and operated, and you can practically taste the love (and maybe a little bit of sweat and tears, but hey, that's passion!). I started with the house salad, and let me tell you, the oil vinaigrette dressing was so good I almost joined the salad bowl clean plate club. I was practically mopping the plate with my bread, which, by the way, they give you a whole basket of with oil for dipping. Carb loading before the main course? Don't mind if I do! Now, for the main event. I took a gamble on the specialty dish of the day: butternut squash pasta with cheese and red pepper. It was a $30 gamble, and for a second, I thought I might have to join the witness protection program to afford it. But hold on to your cannoli, because this dish was worth every penny! It was so good, I almost proposed marriage to the chef. Forget the American Express black card, I would've pulled out a blank check and said, "Fill it in, baby!" And for the grand finale? Tiramisu, of course. It was so good, it was practically singing "O Sole Mio" on my taste buds. This wasn't just tiramisu, it was tira- miss you if you don't order it. So, if you're looking for authentic Italian food that'll make you wanna kiss your fingers like a true Italian, this is the place to go. You'll be saying "Grazie!" so much, you'll sound like you just got back from a Roman holiday. Just don't forget to leave a nice tip... or else you might find a horse head in your bed. (Just...
