This is our second time coming since the start of covid (first time with the salad bar being open). This was always our go to place for salads. They’ve changed it to one trip and lowered the price. Being that it says that it’s an “option” that entails that there are other options. There are not. So now it’s one trip and 7.99. Which ended up actually being fine. But the cashier wasn’t friendly at all and had no explanation for why it was changed. I ordered a potato as well since I wasn’t sure the bar would be enough. I thought they were giving the same small plates. It ended up being too much food. We’re given the plates and gloves. Gloves are now required to get food off the salad bar. After being there for almost an hour and watching how things are cleaned and how customers handle things I realize this is all just for show and unnecessary. I get to my table that had already been wiped clean, there are chips on the floor and later I had to clean off my seat because it had something hard and white like dried up ranch or ice cream on it. I put my gloves on and get my plate and notice it’s dirty. I take it back to get another one and the guy grabbed one, looked at it and then grabbed another. Obviously he found another dirty one. I go to the bar get my salad fixed. Then my potato was delivered. I try some, my son tried some.. as I’m about to get another bite I see this loop sticking out.. I’m like is this a hair?! Pull it out.. yes it was a hair bent in half and wavy. I take the potato up there and I’m asked what I wanted to do I said I guess I’ll just have another one, no hair please just trying to ease the moment. I didn’t make a scene or yell or anything. Manager wasn’t overly friendly and I don’t even recall him apologizing. I had sour cream on it (which he asked if I had it and said he would put it on there) and when it was brought back to me it didn’t have sour cream and it had a chunk like 2in chunk of butter unmelted right in the middle under the cheese. I tried to eat the potato but I just kept thinking about that hair. I took it with me because I didn’t want to make a scene with my kids but I ended up throwing it away in a trash can at a store. While I was eating I watched a woman at the bar cough into her gloves, I watched a woman eat with her gloves on and then go to the bar to fix her plate, and the last one before I left a lady had one glove on holding a tiny bowl and scooping something in it with her ungloved hand. In my less than 30-40 mins of being there I had a dirty chair and floor, dirty plate, hair in my food, lady cough into her glove, lady eat using the gloves, and a lady using her ungloved hand to scoop food into a bowl her gloved hand was holding… yet you care about spreading germs? Most people have no idea how to be sanitary and in the process actually spread more germs. I’ve been in the restaurant business for over 28 years. Even our health inspector told us that she cringes when she sees all these workers with gloves on. So wearing gloves is an illogical idea. Let me state, I’m not some “Karen” who needed everything pristine .. but when you want people to wear gloves to get food then you need to live up to that all around. I don’t really have a desire to go back, but hopefully they will fix their attitudes (we’ve all had a rough year ;) ), get some hair nets for the person losing their hair, and stop the use of gloves since people don’t even understand...
Read more**Update: We've moved to Pensacola and I'm delighted that we live where I went to my 1st JD. Since my first review below, I've visited 9 different JD's in 5 different states and now back where it all started. Had it again today(20Dec2023) and it was SUPERB again!! Folks, this place has fantastic food, clean environment, amazing salad bar and of course an ice cream cone to top everything off!! Here's my post from 2013: My daughter recently graduated from Univ of West Florida and I let her pick any restaurant in Pensacola for lunch(graduation ended just before noon) and when she decided on Jason's Deli, I asked "what is a Jason's Deli"?? I had never even heard of it. I had no idea what to expect. We arrived right around noon. There were 6 of us. I asked a young man clearing tables to please wipe down tables for us to sit together and he was VERY professional and said "of course Sir"!! Everyone took quite a while checking out the menu before ordering. I decided on the Tuna Melt w/chips. It was the MOST delicious Tuna Melt I have EVER had in my life, seriously. My wife got some kind of pasta plate that looked and smelled absolutely delicious. My mother-in-law got a soup/sandwich combo and said it was amazing and she had the salad bar which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service of bringing your food to your table was unexpected but a very nice touch. We dropped my wife's sister off at the airport the next day just before noon and yep, you guessed it, went right back to Jason's Deli. Again, the Tuna Melt and AGAIN it was the most delicious Tuna Melt I have ever had in my life! On our drive back to NC, I learned that there is a Jason's Deli near where we live in Wilmington, NC. Thank you Jason's Deli of Pensacola for a delightful lunch to celebrate our daughter graduating from College, it was...
Read moreStore in Pensacola, Florida (181): My fiancé and I went to Jason deli because he was craving their sandwich and salad. The cashier was Yanela. She was welcoming once we entered. However, her attitude change once we began to order. She no longer had a smile on her face and acted as if she did not want to serve us. My fiancé ordered an onion bun. After we paid, she advised that they did not have a “everything bun”. Being that I myself don’t eat at Jason deli often, I explained that my fiancé ordered a onion bun. She appeared to have an attitude stating “that’s what it is and we do not have it”. I called my fiancé over and he apologize saying he would take another bun. As my fiancé was making his salad and I was standing near the salad bar conversing with him. She stared us down, as if we were doing something wrong. My fiancé loves their ranch and wanted two additional cups for it as well as a muffin bag. Yanela acting as if she did not want to give us the items and seem hesitate about it. She appeared as if we were bothering her. She did give us the items but I knew she had an attitude. As we left the restaurant she once again stared us down. I felt uncomfortable, unwelcome, and felt as if we were a bother to her. I do not believe anyone like her should be up front greeting customers. She needs more people skills...
