I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Ruby Slipper in downtown Pensacola and I must say, it was a delightful experience. Despite a slight wait, the restaurant went above and beyond to ensure our comfort by providing us with a device that allowed us to explore the area while waiting. This thoughtful gesture made the wait much more enjoyable. Our server, Jules, deserves special recognition for her exceptional service. She was incredibly attentive and promptly fulfilled any request we had. Whether it was extra napkins, hot sauce, or additional creamers for our coffee, Jules brought them to our table with remarkable speed. Her attentiveness truly enhanced our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. My wife and I decided to split an appetizer of pig candy bacon bites, and they were absolutely fantastic. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was a true delight. As someone who typically avoids sweet breakfast options, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the Sweet Heat Chicken & French Toast Bites. Let me tell you, they were beyond amazing. The perfect balance of sweetness and heat made them an instant favorite, and I can confidently say they will be my new go-to dish. My wife opted for a build-your-own omelette with mushroom, spinach, and tomatoes, and it was exactly as she wanted it. The ingredients were fresh, and the omelette was cooked to perfection. The quality of the food at the Ruby Slipper truly impressed us. Overall, our experience at the Ruby Slipper was outstanding, and I attribute much of that to our server, Jules. Her attentive and efficient service made us feel well taken care of. Combined with the delicious food, this restaurant is definitely a must-visit in downtown Pensacola.

After a disappointing New Year Fireworks the night before at Pensacola Quiet Water Beach, I was ready for a little brunch the next day and decided to go to Ruby Slipper Cafe. I made a mistake of not reserving before. You should do that as it is always busy. I believe you can reserve through Yelp app and see the reservation and waiting in real time. I ordered Irish Cream Coffee at the bar, it was okay. Not worth $10+ in my opinion. After getting the table we had to wait forty minutes more, there were some mix up at the kitchen. This is where the service excelled though. Our server Jamie H was really apologetic about the wait. We appreciated her sincerity. She is definitely an asset to Ruby Slipper. While the hot Smoked Salmon Bennie was okay, I really liked Grilled Fish St. Peter. The prices were reasonable too. On top of that, we were discounted for the salmon because it was dry. Another round of apologies from Jamie H. She rushed to the kitchen to inform about the dish. We understand with a busy kitchen like that, things can go wrong. But willing to rectify mistakes is what counts. TL;DR Book beforehand, you can track your wait time with Yelp! There is free 2 hour street side parking outside. Take advantage of that. A big shoutout to Jamie H, our server, for an excellent service!

So I came here for brunch on my way out of Pensacola. I came home for the holidays and decided to go out with a bang. I had been here before, and it was great, but that was back before I started Yelping. We get here and we get seated immediately. We get a delightful server with a magnificent beard. I order coffee, and it's pretty good. My girlfriend and I order two dishes and split them. She gets the Pancake Flight (A tasting of our specialty pancakes, including one each of Cinnamon Swirl, Bacon Praline, & our Pancake of the Day) and I get the The Trifecta (Taste of the Ruby Slipper Cafe featuring one serving each of Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles & Shrimp Boogaloo Benedicts). We love flights. We choose variety over quantity all the time. All the time. Her pancake of the day was a sweet potato pancake with marshmallow cream on top. It was very good. They were all very good. I judge pancakes on if I can eat them without syrup, and I could do that to all of these. The bacon was a little lost in the pancake and didn't add much, but it was visually appealing and this was a great value dish with more bacon on the side. Yum. My flight was a little bit more complicated of a story. So, first of all, this place makes their eggs benedicts over biscuits, not English muffins. I don't think I've had that before, but I'm game for trying new things. The best thing on that plate was the Chicken St. Charles. That chicken was fried so well and the egg was poached perfectly. The biscuit was house made and just wow. Get this one. I say get that one because you can honestly skip the other two. The Shrimp Boogaloo was ok. I liked the shrimp and the fried green tomato was excellent, too, but the sauce and the chilis mixed in with the egg was just kind of messy and it didn't come together well. The Eggs Cochon was my least favorite. I don't think that pulled pork belongs on an eggs benedict. I didn't necessarily think that before eating this, but I think it now. Don't get this. Overall, I've always loved the ambiance and the attitude that this place has. Last time I was here, it blew me away. This time, I don't know. I must have just gotten the wrong dish. I hope I come back next time I'm in town so I can give this place another chance.

The restaurant is located in downtown Pensacola, which is nice, clean and quiet to walk around and enjoy your walk. We dined outside which was nice and breezy in early morning of September. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and clean. The southern breakfast and beignets were tasty. The Migas- which is a tex-mex egg breakfast was very bland and it was served with Fritos. When we ordered, we asked the waiter if the Migas comes with toasted bread, he said, "no" it comes with tortillas. So, we were surprised to eat the eggs with Fritos for breakfast. Another critical factor for giving this restaurant a 3-star was allowing a dog (pit bull) comes in to the restaurant. Although we were dining outside, I just didnt think it was appropriate for our waiter serving both the dog and us at the same time. This is not a $6 per plate restaurant for two pieces of bacon and two eggs; we paid extra for a good, relaxing experience. There were two other customers who didnt seem happy and left after getting their drinks. on his way out, right infront of the restaurant- he stepped on a big pile of doodie. The dog had to go potty while they were waiting for a table. She didnt bother picking up the dog's mess and asked the waiter a bowl of water for her dog. While I think it’s inconsiderate to bring her dog in a restaurant, it’s also the restaurant’s responsibility to put a sign in front of the door and website if it’s a dog friendly restaurant. If we had known, we had no problem going elsewhere. This comment has nothing whether I am pro or anti animals. Respect and consideration goes both ways.

Even on a busy, windy and cold morning we were seated right away out on the porch. For the record it is tented with side panels to keep the wind off and we were comfortable with jackets. It was a lovely breakfast and terrific service. Plenty of delish options and specials to choose from and the server was knowledgeable and helpful with the ordering process and all of our questions. The kids were happy with their choices as well. The food was delivered in a timely manner to each seat that placed the order, there was no asking who got what which is just really nice and rare these days. The berry mimosa was a perfect sweet treat. Their coffee is medium dark roast, hallelujah!!! It was good. My friend said the Bloody Mary w/Bacon was a little spicy, although she liked it. She got the shrimp bugaloo. Mine was the Banana Foster’s French Toast which could use a few more banana slices imo 😉 but was perfect 100% for a girl who only eats Banana Foster’s in New Orleans!!!! Really, it was deliciousness!!!!! I will certainly return to try other goodies on the menu. Go to this place! Oh and around the corner is parking in the pay parking but the restaurant validates, so it is free to you. 😍

The food is excellent. This is not IHOP or Waffle House. It's WAY better! You haven't had pancakes like this! Even the coffee had an original, but great taste to it. My server was polite and professional, and I did not have to wait long for my food once I placed my order. It arrived hot, and the fragrances that were coming from the plate made my mouth water. I had the cinnamon swirl pancakes with bacon and sausage. The CONS: If you don't arrive early, you can wait as long as two hours. To save time, I went to their website and got on the wait list before I arrived, and that cut an hour off of my wait time. (I only had to wait about 45 minutes) Upon my arrival, it was literally standing room only. Also, it has an "open air" design, which means that there is no separation between me and my fellow Patron. They are literally less than 2 feet away or right next to you. I can hear their conversation, and they can hear mine. They did have outdoor seating, but it was too hot to sit outside on the day I came to visit. Overall, this was a wonderful trip that I will definitely be back for!
