“Do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things it is not what is outside but what is inside that counts.” - Aladdin The Fish House is one of my new favorite restaurants in Pensacola. The ambiance, staff, and food make it a true winner in my book. Our server, Sam, was so knowledgeable about the menu! She made recommendations that were spot on & was able to give details about things such as the subtle flavors in each dish. (Truly one of the best servers I have had the pleasure of meeting.) I have now added the sautéed crab claws to the list of “things I would choose as a last meal if I were on death row”. (Fear not, I’m a calm soul.) Anyhoo… here are a couple other things that were impressive. Sam presented the extra lemons for our waters in a beautiful way instead of just slapping them in a bowl or attaching them to the glass. Nice touch! (See pic) There was a moment where my guy (yes, ladies, same one from the other review 😉🤗) was wavering between two dishes. It was between the World Famous Grits á Ya Ya and the Red Fish Acadia. Sam worked some server magic & had a side of the Grits á Ya Ya added to the red fish dish. The dish was nothing short of spectacular! Note on the desserts: The chocolate cheesecake was a chocolate-lover’s dream. Overload. For the key lime connoisseurs, you might want to skip this one. It was meh. Ditching the meringue helped, but it wasn’t worth ordering again. (I like them tart.)

I had did research on good seafood in the Pensacola area when I was there last weekend, and this place came up. The one thing that stood out to me was the site said live music, but unfortunately that has stopped. I was initially told a table for two would 1 - 1 1/2 hours. They took my name and number. I told my Wife we should have enough time to run to the ABC wine and spirits store about 12-15 minutes away. While we were heading back, which was less than an hour I got the text that our table was ready, and to reply 1 if I was on the way. I was 10 mins out, and when I got to the parking lot, they called and I informed them I was parking. My Wife ordered the fried catfish with cole slaw and hush puppies (corn fritters). I had the grilled shrimp with asparagus and macaroni and cheese. When I say this is the best restaurant cooked mac and cheese, please believe it. I had a great time here, and will be returning in the near future. Only complaint, the sweet tea was not that sweet, I had to add more sugar, but the taste of the food and quality of service was superb. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area or if you stay in the area and never tried it, you will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed my time at the Fish House. We went on Christmas Eve and the restaurant was very busy and the outdoor seating was closed. We had about a 15 minute wait to be seated (they didn't take a reservation before hand) and we were seated at a few smaller tables pushed together for our 9 person group. The long table seating was unfortunate because it makes it hard for everyone to talk and hear each other. The restaurant was slightly loud due to the amount of people talking, but I appreciated the fun atmosphere, without it being too boisterous. The restaurant has two large fish tanks with many different sized and colored fish. These tanks really add to the aesthetic and nod to the name. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive to our large group. The crab cake appetizer was absolutely delicious with so many complimentary flavors. The wedge salad had a lot of great components typical for the dish, however, the combination of the bacon and specific dressing made it a bit too salty for my taste. Overall we had a great time celebrating a family member's birthday. I would suggest visiting on a slower day or when the outdoor seating is open for a more cohesive time together.

Great atmosphere on the water. Ate inside, but outside seating is available. Food was delicious. Ordered Ginger Fried Shrimp as an appetizer. 4 large gulf shrimp. We ordered the Five Sister’s Fried Chicken thighs with collard greens and smoked gouda pimento mac and cheese. Fully expected not to like the mac and cheese, as I don’t like pimento, but was pleasantly surprised. Chicken was perfectly fried! Also ordered the Gulf Shrimp Platter with pecan crusted shrimp, collard greens, and red beans, sausage, and rice. All delicious and PIPING HOT! Our server Peyton was wonderful. She was the perfect mix of attentive and friendly! Ordered cocktails- Templeton Smash, The Renfroe, The House Margarita, and The Fish House Punch. All drinks were delicious! They were busy at 1:00 and it took a little while to get our food, but still a perfectly reasonable wait for the crowd. Prices were surprisingly reasonable. Our first time here and we will definitely be back!

Gumbo, $3.95: It came out in good temperature with a little kick to it. The texture was rich and filled with ingredients. It was decent. Soul Rolls, $9.95: Chicken and collard greens fill crisp spring roll wrappers; served with peach chutney, wasabi crème, and brown sugar-pecan Creole mustard dipping sauce. The plating was good and it could use more of the wasabi creme. The sauce complimented the rolls well. This was my favorite dish out of the bunch. Benedict Acadia, $14.95: A mix of Applewood smoked bacon, crawfish, tasso, peppers, onions, topped with a soft-poached egg, finished with hollandaise, on toasted English muffins. The egg did not look appetizing at all and it was cold when I took a bite of it. The mixture didn't really taste much of anything. Hollandaise? What hollandaise? The egg did cook to good consistency for an egg benedict. That's the only good thing I can say about this plate.
