I should preface this review. My husband and I (and my family) have been loyal Jim's Bistro patrons for years. Whether it is a date night, a birthday, or other celebrations, Jim's Bistro was always our pick. Unfortunately, our recent experiences at Jim's Bistro was less than desirable. We always gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and returned. However, most recently, we visited Jim's Bistro last night (8/18) with a 7:30 pm reservation. If I could rate this with zero stars, I would. When we arrived at the restaurant, I had to look for the host/hostess. Finally, we were greeted by JD. I informed him that we had a reservation for 7:30 pm. He said it would be a couple of minutes and we would be seated. No problem. However, 5+ minutes later, I asked one of the employees if it would be possible that we be seated at the open table to our left. JD came back and agreed to "offer" to seat us there. While the restaurant was extremely busy, our waitress was beyond rude from the git-go. I ordered the New York strip medium-well and my husband ordered the lamb shank. The steak came out RAW! It was sent back. When it came back, the steak was charred, and still RAW on the inside. At that point, I asked that I receive a fresh steak. They proceeded to butterfly the New York strip. (A good chop house does NOT butterfly a New York strip steak!!!). Furthermore, my iced tea glass remained EMPTY unless I asked for a refill, at which time the waitress acted like my request was a major inconvenience for her. Additionally, my husband waited much longer than he should have for a glass of wine. All the while, JD NEVER came to our table to apologize for our experience or attempt to "make it right". Instead, you could find him sitting at the end of the bar eating his dinner and drinking wine. What a disgrace!!!! We will NOT be going back to Jim's Bistro and I would urge you to reconsider your choice as well. There are plenty of establishments in Peoria that would be happy to serve you. Clearly, Jim's Bistro is not...
Read moreNot a first time visitor here. They're very consistent across the board, but if "it's not broke, then why fix it?", right? We had reservations so we got seated right away. We chose outside on the front patio, but won't do that again for a couple of reasons: 1) With all of the traffic (foot and car) it was loud and distracting for my taste. 2) The front window to the establishment has a reflective film coating to keep the west-facing sun from frying the patrons inside. I can vouch that it works because the heat coming off of the glass was overwhelming. Service was average for a restaurant of this scale and caliber. Everyone was very nice and seemed to enjoy their work. I received the wrong beer and they tried to make it right but I just went with it. The table was sticky all the way around the perimeter of the table top which I'm guessing was from sticky forearms leaning on it (see pic). Everything else was clean including glasses and utensils which is rare anymore. We got burgers and they were on point! Cooked to perfection with quality ingredients to include the bun. The fries (both varieties) were done well. My recommendation is for them to add some small patio speakers to add some ambience and a seasonal oscillating fan to mitigate the heat reflection. We will go back because it is good service and great food. Jim's is a must-try in the Heights. Its pricier...
Read moreMy husband and I showed up for our 8:30 dinner reservations. We chose here because this was our first “fancy dinner” we went to before we where married. We where told how busy they where and we where reminded of it the whole time we where there. First they told us they are not serving appetizers because it was too busy. Not that big of a deal to us. We both ordered the 14oz New York strip cooked medium. His came out perfect and tasted delicious. Mine was undercooked, rare if not raw in the center. I told the waitress she took it back. They put the same steak back on the grill and cooked it more. Which just burnt the outside and the center was slightly more done. The owner then came over and was beyond rude. He said if they would have cooked a new steak it would have been the same way because his cooks would have been in a hurry. The burnt taste was from the charcoal grill they use, yet my husbands did not taste burnt at all. The only right thing they did was take it off the bill. So go here if you want under cooked food and owner who has terrible customer service. It was nothing more than an overpriced terrible experience. We will not go back. There are much better places on Prospect in Peoria heights. Don’t waste your time or money at...
