I’ve visited this restaurant more than a couple of times, and unfortunately, the overall experience has been inconsistent and, at times, disappointing. First Visit: I came with a group of friends and ordered a variety of starters along with biryani. While the biryani was quite good, the starters were extremely salty and hard to enjoy. Second Visit: This time, I visited with a friend. We again ordered starters and biryani. The food was average — not particularly memorable, but not terrible either. Third Visit: We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and ordered Baby Corn 555, Jalapeño Chicken, and Tandoori Chicken. • The Baby Corn 555 was overwhelmingly salty, and the only flavor that stood out was vinegar. • The Jalapeño Chicken lacked any real flavor and was very bland. • The biggest disappointment was the Tandoori Chicken. As someone with a good understanding of cooking, I can confidently say it was not cooked in a tandoor — it looked and tasted more like it was pan-fried or air-fried. Also, instead of being served sizzling as it typically is in most U.S. restaurants, it came on a plain plate, which was underwhelming.
To make matters worse, we had leftovers which we reheated the next day. From just 5-6 spoons of chicken, I was able to squeeze out nearly 2 spoonfuls of oil, which was excessive. Both my friend and I ended up with food-related illnesses after eating it. Final Thoughts: I sincerely urge the restaurant management to take these issues seriously — particularly the salt levels, authenticity of preparation methods, oil content, and food safety standards. Your guests deserve a much better and safer...
Read moreWe ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, malai kofta, chana masala, and boneless chicken house biriyani. They never took a drink order or even brought out water. After our food order was taken they never stopped by the table to see how our food was or if we needed anything. But went around to the other tables. We were the only couple who appeared to be light skinned. We even sat there for a while before my husband got up and asked for boxes and the check because the lady was sitting behind the counter on her phone. I specifically chose to come to this Indian restaurant because I saw the malai kofta on the website and it looked so good. It was such a disappointment. The dumplings look decent size and the description says they are soft and melt in your mouth on the website. They are not. They were the size of gulab jamun if not smaller. They were hard. I couldn’t even cut it with my fork. I told the lady about it and they remade it. When it came out it was just as bad if not harder. You only get 4 little dumplings for $17. Don’t waste your money!! The chana masala really needed salt but she never came by to ask for it. It also tasted like it had been made with too...
Read moreI recently visited Biryani House in Peoria, and honestly, it was one of the best Indian meals I’ve had in a while. The moment I stepped in, the aroma of spices hit me—in the best way possible! The place had a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were super friendly and attentive.
I ordered their Chicken Dum Biryani, and it completely lived up to the hype. The rice was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the chicken was juicy, tender, and packed with spices. It came with raita and salan, which added the perfect balance of coolness and tanginess to the dish. Every bite felt like a mini trip back home.
I’ve had biryani at many places, but this one really stood out in terms of authenticity and taste. The portion was generous too—I even had leftovers for the next day, and it was still amazing!
If you're in Peoria and craving real Indian food, I highly recommend checking out Biryani House. I’ll definitely be going back to try more...
