I do not have enough words for Indian Tadka. Oh my goodness. So so so yummy. The richness of flavor is amazing. The FOOD. The food. Oh - so amazing. Certainly one of my top 3 favorite food (not just Indian) places in Peoria. Whether you are local or just passing through, consider having a meal here.
Expect to spend a little more here than at other nearby restaurants. However, considering the phenomenal flavor, the variety and quantity of spices involved in each dish, and the sheer amount of labor it would take to make these dishes at home, I feel the price is justified. I tend to take out a lot, but I would absolutely recommend dining in if you can! The staff is so kind and professional, and something about the restaurant just makes the food taste even better.
For Midwestern snowflakes like me, order the mild or medium spice level with a lassie drink. Even medium spice level can feel hot to the Midwestern palate. Beware that some dishes are hotter than others- if this is important to you, pay attention to the food descriptions when ordering. But oh, the burn is so worth it.
A spicy culprit you might not expect is cardamom. Dont shy away from dishes with cardamom -they are SO yummy- but be aware that you could potentially bite down on a whole spicy seed pod if you arent careful!
I have not even tried half the menu, but here are my personal favorites: Goat Korma (bone-in), chicken vindaloo, or the Hyderabad biriyani with a sweet lassie and garlic naan. And the chilli paneer appetizer and samosas are amazing too you are with a group (or just very hungry).
Vegetarian recommendations: Aloo Gobi, palak paneer, chili paneer appetizer, vegetable samosa appetizer, Baygan Bharta, yellow daily, tofu vindaloo, vegetable biriyani
Recommendations for sensitive eaters (mild spice): Butter chicken, anything Tikka masala, tandoori chicken, or palak paneer (palak paneer is a creamy spinach and cheese. Good for spice-sensitive, but probably not good for picky eaters.). Order any of these with a mango lassie and plain or garlic Naan.
For bone-in goat dishes, be aware that you should eat carefully and may need to use your hands to help you eat around the little bones. But the goat is my favorite protein at Indian Tadka, so don't be scared to give it a try!
I'm so excited to see this restaurant has expanded their menu and is now offering Sunday brunch! Can't...
Read moreThanks for the reply. But I just wanna correct you, after the last incident we didn’t visit 3 times in 10days but only once that too 2 days ago and it’s a pickup order of appetiser.please don’t mislead others. And this was something we were expecting first time when this happened from your side(an apt response from your staff who attended us)As far as I remember we just left the restaurant politely without any argument last time. What I’m pointing out right now is the way your staff behaved with us last time regarding food and the discussion we had today which we felt you didn’t even bother what we are expecting as a customer. There is really an other way of approach if you would have really wanted to sort out the issue-like May be any modes of improvement you want to know from the customers rather than pointing out the previous review which you are concerned only about.
Anyway thanks, my concern is only about the way of behaviour but not the food.
The food is good but I don’t think so the staff here are polite in anyway. This is the first time I’m writing a review for anything after multiple visits.Last time when we visited the food was not upto the mark and when we checked with the staff about it,they were like we don’t find anything wrong in it and so we left the food there itself. But the next time when we visited, the food is good only but the owner almost had a lengthy discussion with us about our previous visit for which we posted a review.I only wanted to suggest something.if you have something to tell people who posted any review, comment below them asking the problem rather than having such lengthy discussions without even ready to accept any fault from your side and try to assure them that these kind of things don’t repeat again. And this 2 star is for only the food we had this time which is good and not for the staff who didn’t even care to show any...
Read moreFood was good compliments to the chef, everything else was horrific. The girl serving me had to be told 3 different times what I ordered and came back and asked me if I wanted that dish to be chicken...and when I told her the name of the dish has chicken in it she replied the menus are new and she doesn't know the new dishes...the menus were not that new and the dish was chicken dum biryani...a dish they have always had...food took 1hour to come out...no papad or chutney was served, food quantity was a lot less than before and dishes were clearly walmart bought...the waiter brought my to go order and slammed it on the table..and when I started at him he picked up the bag and moved it to apologize and went on to spill my water in the process and never apologized. I asked for my cheque and box...box never came, cheque did..and then no one came to pick up the payment card...so I just picked up my stuff and waited at the front counter for someone to come...they only came when the phone rang..and continued to not speak to me as I paid...when I tipped only 10 percent the same waitress gave me attitude...oh btw I wanted to order on the phone for pick up but no one picked up despite calling twice...so I decided to drive there and dine in....horrible...I am not being racist but an indian restaurant shouldn't have white girls who dont know what food is being served working there, especially not ones with such...
