Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Peoria

I had the most disappointing visit to any Chili's ever last night. Back story- I worked at Chili's in East Peoria illinois for 2 years back in 2006/2007, as a matter of fact the manager on duty last night was Alex, whom I worked with in East Peoria. Chili's is my go to restaurant - when my adult daughter and I go out to eat it's ALWAYS Chili's. My daughter and I entered the store and were seated as normal, our server came over and was pleasant. We already knew what we we're ordering because we go there often. When the server asked if we were ready or needed a few we told her we were ready, and she seemed annoyed. I know the food comes with standard sides. But I was off put she didn't ask if these sides were "ok?" My daughter ordered a 6oz sirloin, when the server didn't ask if these sides were alright I interjected and asked her what sides she wanted which seemed to annoy our server further, and she said both broccoli. I told her we were doing the 2 for $25. And then ordered the Texas cheese fries for the appetizer and the chicken crispers with loaded mash and broccoli. A few minutes later she was bringing out our fries and while she was grabbing side plates for us our food was delivered. She said to the other server "wow, wasn't expecting that but not going to complain at least we're pushing food out". I will say that it was quite annoying that we couldn't even eat our appetizer before our meal, and really annoying that the table we we're at was a 2 top with an appetizer, and 2 meals. There wasn't any room. I have to say I have never been so grossed out by the chicken crispers in my life. At first glance I knew the experience wouldn't be good the crispers were sitting in a POOL of grease, like they hadn't even knocked the grease off when they took them out if the fryer The first 2 bites I tried I cut a piece off and put it in my mouth to be met with a strange texture, and a lot of gristle. I couldn't even hardly eat them. The other 2 the batter didn't cook and they were so light and wet. Not one of my crispers had that light crunch of the top layer of batter. They were spongy, the coloring was odd, nice brown on one side and the other white and wet. I ended up saying something to the server when she came back for the dessert order. Which we were told was cheesecake or skillet cookie, to me having worked there it would have been a good opportunity to upsell. I told her about the food which I barely touched and she said "oh, sorry". I then asked if we could pay the upcharge for the paradise pie. She said sure and in 2 minutes was back with our cold dessert. The ice cream didn't even melt a little. We ate maybe 4 bites or so. She acted annoyed having to help us with using points toward a soda. The server seemed to rush us, the kitchen rushed us. Overall bad experience and not sure if I will go back to that location again. 8-9-22 dined in the Peoria location. Excellent service. Seated immediately. Server was very attentive and friendly. My only complaint is they didn't have the mushroom jack fajitas. I wish they would stop taking those off the menu. Kids meals were great, per the 4 kiddos. Price was good for what you get. I had dinner and I'll have lunch for less than $20.

The wait was about 15 minutes, which I was surprised at considering we went at 345 on a Sunday, but it was not a bad wait time. The restaurant was definitely busy inside. Our server, we think her name was Amber, came to our table immediately and had our drinks to us within 2 minutes. Order was taken quickly, and food came out pretty quickly, considering how busy it was. My husband and daughters meals were perfect, the boss berger, and chicken strips, my meal, the mushroom jack fajitas came out looking and smelling delicious, however, there was no chicken on the plate, and my supposed to be loaded fajitas, were not loaded. Got our waitress' attention and she immediately apologized and took my plate back to get my chicken. I thought it was taking awhile just to get some chicken added to my fajitas, turns out it was a bit, because she had my whole plate of fajitas remade, even though I had eaten most of the beans already. She also brought me extra queso for my loaded fajitas to be extra loaded. You could tell she felt bad. She was quite friendly and very good at her job. Drinks were refilled, and she went out of her way to make sure I was happy even though my meal had been messed up and then I had to eat along as my husband and daughter had finished their meals by the time my new plate got to me. Haven't been to a Chili's in some time. When I arrived the place was really busy, but I was able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was MIA for a good bit, but I was patient as thus is just how it is today. Eventually I was greeted with a friendly smile and I asked for an Oktoberfest. I was told it was out, no bother, I'll have something else. The bartender was very nice and quick to get my order. I ordered the honey Chipotle crispers, that comes with corn and fries. I ordered an extra side of Coleslaw. My food arrived minus the fries. Before I was able to say anything the bartender jumped right in and requested fries. No bother, fries came out very quickly. Upon first look, my coleslaw looked chunky, like frozen, I grabbed a bit with my fork, yup, still frozen, and appears they just tried to chop the chunks apart. The crispers appeared to be mini chunks of tenders, not like I remember they used to be, this may just be the way they are now. Not sure. Crispers were barely warm and unappealing, but the taste was as I remembered. The corn was as if it were heated and reheated and then heated 5 more times, it was mushy and very watery, I've never had sweetcorn so watery...not juicy as in delicious sweet corn, but watery, as in the kernels had mushed and absorbed water from a pot...the fries were perfect.
