I recently celebrated my birthday at Mochilero Kitchen in Peoria, Arizona, joined by five of my friends for what turned out to be a delightful culinary adventure. The restaurant boasts a modern Mexican theme in its decor, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the flavorful dishes served.

For appetizers, we indulged in the Queso & Chips, featuring a delightful Asadero-Oaxaca blend with pico and house-made tortilla chips; Guacamole & Plantain Chips with a unique combination of Serrano, pineapple, and cotija; and the standout Roasted Brussels Sprouts, doused in apple cider gastrique and a creamy guajillo-peanut sauce. Each dish was a hit, though the guacamole portion seemed disproportionally small compared to the abundance of plantain chips.

My main course plans hit a snag when I learned the red snapper was unavailable. Disappointed, I chose the Mochilero Mole instead—a savory dish of chicken breast in mole, sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds and served with pickled vegetables, black beans, and rice. While tasty, my heart had been set on the snapper. My friends' burritos, on the other hand, were massive and met with rave reviews all around.

No birthday meal is complete without dessert, so we opted for flan. It was delicious, though it missed the mark with the absence of caramelized sugar and could have benefited from more thoughtful plating with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. The evening wasn't without its flaws. The most notable was the lack of attention to clearing dishes between courses, leading to an awkward juggling of plates to accommodate each new serving. This oversight detracted from the otherwise professional and responsive service. Additionally, the noise level made conversation challenging, and our seating near the entrance resulted in an unwelcome draft every time the door opened—a pony wall could easily remedy this issue.

Despite these hiccups, Mochilero Kitchen provided a solid dining experience. The food's authenticity and flavor profile, along with the overall atmosphere, made for a memorable birthday celebration. I would definitely return, hopeful for a chance to try that elusive red snapper and confident that the minor service and seating issues could be addressed to make future visits even...

Handi cap parking is centralized in this parking center, but there are ramps up to the sidewalk and this kitchen can custom accomodate for handicaped needs. There are lovey purple orchid trees here.

I love that this kitchen has a menu just outside their door in a wonderful agave themed dispay box. Twice a month they have live entertinment. Tonight they an an American Idol contestant playing. His music was a real treat. The ambiance of this place is classy. Rich dark wood line the walls and ceiling overhead to appeal to the perfect male hang out while elegant lamps and mirrors lend a strong appeal to the girls night out feel. I think this place has great appeal. They are also prepared to take care of mothers and their babies. I love that about this place.

They have a bar with a beautifu display of bottles on the wall but they also offer several unique non-alchoholic juice and soda combinations. I had the cucumber mellon and it was presented so lovely. It was delicious and refreshing. The service was fast and good.

I discovered that all thier tacos are made with fresh blue corn tortillas that are hand made in the restaurant that morning. That impressed me very much. The flavor was really good.

They have a classic mexican desert called FLAN which is a carmel custard. Their Flan was incredible, covered in toated coconut, firm and extra creamy, it was the best Flan I have ever eaten.

I sat out on their patio that was nice and cool with the misters going. it is very enchanting with the light stings looping over head. Inside and out this place is enchanting and an experience not to be missed.

The owners are very much apart of the servcie. I had the opportunity to meet the owner and her husband. They are passionate about giving you the best dining experience possible.

I did like that they had a hand washing station located out side...

With three children my wife and I rarely get a date night out. We were recommended Mochilero Kitchen from a friend and decided to try it out. We were kindly greeted and got a table fairly quickly. It was peak time on a Friday evening. With 20 years customer service myself and my wife previously a waitress we value high quality service. Our server Britanni was flawless. Her upbeat personality, menu knowledge and recommendations were spot on. You can tell she really enjoys being around people and ensuring they have the best experience possible. She even gave us a background on the business which is a very cool story.

The food was outstanding. We did not have any appetizers although they looked fantastic. My wife had the jalapeño margarita and said it was one of the best she’s had. I had the short rib enchiladas and brussel sprouts. Both were great. The enchiladas were not too heavy and had great flavor. My wife had 3 tacos and enjoyed each one of them. All three had great flavor balance. She also had the brussel sprouts and even if your not a brussel sprouts person they are awesome.

The atmosphere and decor in the place is great. This little gem will certainly be a place we return to. We just hope Britanni is our server again as she was refreshing to talk to. We are not high maintenance customers but value quality service. She most certainly did not disappoint. See...

Such a fun and low key place to go for girls night on a Taco Tuesday or with the fam for an inexpensive and delicious Mexican dinner. Always fast and friendly service too.
