Modo Mio was a most enjoyable experience! We’ve had the opportunity to both dine in and pick up orders from Modo Mio a dozen times now and each time the food and customer service was outstanding! When dining in, Joey and Justin make you feel at home, both warm and welcoming; they also know the menu well and make excellent recommendations. Every menu item we have tried has been excellent! Always start with Modo Mio’s signature Garlic Puffs; warm and soft with flavorful roasted garlic. When you’re in the mood for pizza, you’ve got to order Modo Mio’s Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza; the crust is perfect and you can’t beat the best balance of sweet, salty, and spicy! Joey’s Spicy Meatball Pizza was also super enjoyable, especially with those flavorful housemade meatballs on top! More of a supreme pizza guy or gal? Go for Da Works Pizza and you won’t be sorry.
In the mood for pasta? You must order Modo Mio’s lasagna; which uses the perfect amount of Italian sausage, marinara, cheese, and al dente noodles baked into the layered dish. If you’re a fan of fettuccine Alfredo, you need to order this classic dish; perfectly cheesy and even better with their Parmesan-crusted chicken on top (mushrooms optional). Anything with their housemade walnut pesto is also a must; so fresh and tasty! They also do the classic spaghetti and meatballs justice!
Feeling like something a little lighter? Modo Mio has you covered with a flavorful Antipasto Salad, perfectly paired with their Italian dressing. The Modo Mio Caprese also makes pesto the star of the show in this classic and vibrant starter dish.
Be sure to order your new favorites with an Italian cream soda; with just the right amount of cream and sweetness, the local prickly pear flavor was my personal favorite but the peach was a close second and the clear choice for those who want a little extra sweetness with their soda. Oh and don’t forget dessert; in particular their cannoli.
We are so ecstatic to have a new Italian local favorite, we will continue to be back again and again, Modo Mio! Thank you...
Read moreDecided to give this place a chance tonight. Seems like they're in the middle of a transition and trying to find their footing/style.
As I do with any new Italian restaurant I try for the first time, I ordered the house lasagna - if you can get that right, I can come back and try the rest. My girlfriend ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. Also ordered garlic puffs, ranch and marinara for dipping, and the garlic bread. Let's break it down.
Lasagna - has what is described as "seasoned ricotta". Not entirely certain what the seasoning was, but I wanted to say spinach. Texture of the ricotta was off - pasty and sticky, not the lighter fluffier ricotta I've had on really excellent lasagna. Meat was good, well seasoned and flavorful, pasta well cooked. Ricotta kind of put a dent in it though.
Fettuccine Alfredo - expected a creamy parmesean Alfredo sauce as described on menu, but instead it was more olive oil and pasta than anything resembling a cream sauce. Pasta itself was thick and cooked to perfection, so some saving grace there, but that sauce needs work.
Garlic puffs - these were done well. Good dough, roasted garlic cloves chunked over the top, with oil and garnish. Maybe a little heavy handed on the oil, could stand to be not dripping off. Ranch dressing was obviously homemade and top notch.
Garlic bread - butter was a bit heavy (initial whiff made me think movie theater popcorn), but still pretty decent.
Total was $68 and change (with tip) for all this plus two fountain drinks, which seemed steep for the portion and quality. Atmosphere was halfway between trying to be Olive Garden and a sports bar (which I believe is what this space was converting from). I can respect the effort to find a new niche. I'm on the fence about returning, but I'll keep an eye on it. I spoke to two of the owners/chef (?) when I was getting a refill and mentioned the ricotta, and they were very open to the feedback. Have to respect their willingness to listen and hear critical responses...
Read moreThis weekend we were all wanting something a bit different and trying to decide where we’d all be happy. Half my family always wants pizza and I’m just over it, but when I came across Modo Mio I knew there would be plenty of things to choose from. When we cloaked in it was empty. We were in between late lunch and start of dinner. Instantly we were told by a girl at the counter they don’t do table service for lunch so we had to order at the counter. They do bring you the food etc though once ordered No big deal we sat with the menus as we decided. My husband and I always go back and forth about trying a meatball sub places, but I’m always on the fence as they just don’t look or sound good to me. Today though after looking over fellow reviewers I kept seeing theirs over and over. To me that tells me it’s going to be good. I ordered it off their lunch special with a side salad. We agreed if awful he’d split his personal pizza with me and eat the other half ha ha . Deal. We also ordered another personal pizza and more wings off the lunch special for my daughter. Well, too bad for my husband because I ate that entire meatball sub lol. The bread was toasted and a bit crispy, good sauce to meat ratio and cheese ooey and gooey. My side salad was fresh and I was glad my dressing came on the side so I could add as little or much as I wanted. Prices were fair for the lunch specials, Service was ok, but I’d of liked if they’d been a bit more friendly at walk in instead of the instant …dining in, no table service comment…. Just a little better on how the tone came out, but that’s my opinion. The location was clean. The vibe gave off more fast food but a little more upscale than fancy Italian . Parking was easy in and out. We’d go again. Maybe...
