I ordered iced tea, avocado Benedict with hash browns and grape jelly, the kids French toast with sausage and fruit. Before my $5 coupon, it was $36. Plus tip.
The restaurant was bright and sunny, had big booths and a nice patio. However, tables sat with dirty dishes for far too long. Which is why I gave atmosphere such a low score. Dirty tables left unbussed is ridiculously easy to fix.
The server was pleasant enough but MIA for the majority of the meal. Breakfast took an hour and a half. I had great company so the complaint is 100% how long it took between server visits.
The kids French toast originally looked a bit dry, but was perfect when the syrup was soaked up and very yummy. The sausage was a huge link, snap on the outside, super flavorful on the inside. A fresh fruit medley of berries. My four year old ate it all. And the kids plates are an elevated version of a separated kids plate which I loved.
My food is the big reason for the low score, and honestly it comes back to the long time between server visits, which could be the server or the kitchen delays, not sure. But... The hash browns, crispy. Perfect portion and great taste. The grape jelly was the best. The avocado was nice, fresh, cold, firm, plentiful. The pico, wow, best pico I think I've ever had. Best surprise flavor, fresh. Yum. The feta, very fine and small, didn't taste it, but I'm happy for that. The eggs, poached perfectly. I liked the hollandaise on the side. Light in flavor. Felt fresh. Besides the avocado and pico which I understand why they were cold and delicious, the issue is that everything else was also cold. Not Luke warm. Not cooled off, but cold. As it sat too long on the line without being delivered.
I didn't have a chance to ask for it to be fixed as the server was missing. If the food had been at the correct temperature and my iced tea filled, the food would have been a five. If the tables had been bussed, the atmosphere would have been a five.
If the food has been a correct temperature, it would have been one of the best Benedicts I've ever had.
All easy fixes. Would recommend but would like easy things to be...
Read moreThis was a pretty good breakfast restaurant. The decor is very brightly colored and gives feel good vibes. I loved the bathroom wallpaper (might be weird to say but very few places think about every inch of their building) and all of the positive saying throughout the restaurant are great. The food was really good. I got the chilaquilles and got both the red and green sauce. The green had a little spice and was full of flavor, and the red was not spicy at all to me but had lots of smokey roasted tomato flavor. They were both delicious. My son got the kids waffles. The waffle was a pretty big size, tasted good and came with a side of fruit, which surprisingly ended up being all berries, one piece of applewood smoked bacon, which tasted amazing and a drink of his choosing. He got the strawberry watermelon lemonade. It was very light tasting but super refreshing, our 4 year-old loved it. They also give him, wikki stix with his menu instead of crayons and he was entertained the whole time with them. We had never seen them before and they were very cool.
My husband got the rolled tacos which had Carnitas inside, avocado and 2 eggs cooked how you want, on top. They were like a bigger sized tacquito. My husband liked it and the portion sizes for all our food was just right.
Not sure, if this specific restaurant or just the brand in general, was visited by Guy Fierro from "Diners, Drive ins and Dives", but they do have a little artwprk poster hanging, showing that he gave his thumbs up for the restaurant. I forgot to get a photo of it.
All in all this was a great restaurant and if we are ever in the area again we would...
Read moreWe have been wanting to try this place and finally made it. They were very busy, as expected for Saturday morning. We were offered to sit at the counter or wait 25 min. We chose the counter, on the outside (open to the inside). We loved where we sat, there was a light breeze and the misters were on and we were in the shade, it was very pleasant!
The food took awhile to come, and others seated at the counter after us were served ahead of us. The woman running the counter area was alone, doing a great job, but very busy.
The food was ok. My husband ordered the southwest omelette, Tator tots, and the house bread. He said the omelette was good, but didn’t really have spice as he would have predicted/hoped for. He loved the house bread, which is a multi grain. I ordered the classic two egg breakfast- I got scrambled eggs, bacon, English muffin, potatoes o’brien. The eggs were great, one piece of bacon was undercooked (very flimsy), the potatoes didn’t have much O’Brien, in all those potatoes I found maybe three tiny pieces of bell pepper, and the potatoes were on the dry/over-cooked/over-warmed side. The English muffin was fine, but very soft, not like a standard English muffin that is a little crispy on the outside when toasted.
It is a bright cheery place, just not sure...
