Hostile lady at the front! I stopped in with my baby and my husband 2 days ago. This girl with dark hair and green eyes, around 17 years old, was at the front. I asked her for a combination plate, she asked basket or plate, i confirmed a plate to her. When i asked if that came with salad and rice she told me no those came on the side for extra. So i told her i want salad and rice with my meal.
So i she comes out with a salad and rice then comes out with a gyro and fries basket. I didn't order a gyro pita at all, but a "Combo Plate" (which is the exact menu name for this plate) which is chicken/gyro/hummus/rice/salad on it. She takes the gyro basket in the back then tells me her manager said i had to pay $4 more for the plate i ordered (which i already paid $22 for a salad, side of rice and the wrong item). I told her no, I already paid extra for sides that are included on the item i ordered. She kept coming up to me to argue, seems that most customers who say combo plate mean the $9.99 gyro basket with fries and a drink. I told her she should of asked me if she was unsure of the item...she said she did but she asked for a basket or plate..which i said plate. They wouldn't bring back out any main plate so i had cold rice and a salad on the table for 15 mins. I kept asking for a refund. They finally brought me a gyros meat plate, also what i didn't order. I never even said the word gyro so i am not sure why she thought i was ordering that whatsoever. I kept on saying this is still not what i ordered. I just put it in a togo box to leave since I didn't want to eat what they probably spit in plus it was the old nasty hard gyro parts. This is better then nothing I guess since the wouldn't refund me.
The owner comes over to the table after driving to the restaurant. He is asking oh how was everything. I told him terrible, I am livid that this woman is yelling about this mishap being my fault, plus that i asked over and over for a refund so i could just leave instead of this turning into the situation that it did. I told him after all that i wasn't in any mood to eat my food after being ripped off, just want to leave after my baby was done eating his apple sauce. I told him i work in the service industry and do not treat customers like this, no matter whose "fault" the mishap is. She didn't know the menu. He said oh sorry she is new and that she should repeat the order since the customer don't always know the menu. He brought me a bag for my food, declared everything to be fine in this situation, and we left.So i paid the price for his naive employee and left hungry and out $23 for nasty food.
I spent the whole 30 mins that i was in that place arguing with this woman then talking with the manager. I only came in to eat here after a long day, and didn't need an argument or drama. This was an easy fix, but she was so worried about being "right" and not actually fixing the problem. We really only eat here since its the only Greek food place in Peoria. There is a reason why this place isn't packed full like other Greek food restaurants. They don't include the vegetables and the portion sizes are not as shown in their photos. Have been coming here for 4 years never a problem until then. They lost my business forever and I see that they are also losing other peoples business due to wrong orders that they want the...
Read moreDon’t waste your time coming here! I have been here at least 4 times always being patient hoping they can get there act together. Another example of someone believing they can open a restaurant and be a success without understanding the fundamentals! I should know I own a very successful restaurant!! Today was the topper. I came in for lunch. The server is usually texting on her phone and never sees anyone enter. So I walked to the bar and grabbed a seat. She left her phone to ask me if I wanted the usual. Ordered a beer and gyro w extra tsaziki sauce. It was 11:30 and only a table of 5 high school age guys were seated in the entire restaurant. A couple sat behind me at a table 10 min later and you guessed it were being served before me?? The server told me that the Greek restaurants kitchen didn’t have any tsaziki sauce? Really? That would be equivalent to my Mexican restaurant not having guacamole/tortillas or tequila!?! I rarely leave a review other than 5 stars! This restaurant just needs to take a time out bring everyone and train everyone to leaders expectations and if you can’t do this, then, Please save yourself a lot of money and close now! Stop the bleeding. I already now how bad your books are! Anyone with a brain can see that your missing all 3 pieces of a successful restaurant! SERVICE/FOOD/ATMOSPHERE! You can’t stay a float much longer! Please put yourself and the community of of...
Read moreI reviewed this place 2 years ago, after 3 visits and all horrible service, and lackluster food! ~ HOWEVER! I decided to go back in today for another try! Maybe there is a new owner or new management? IF they had the same server I was going to turn around and leave. I walked in, and after a few seconds a server came out from the kitchen with her hands full and made eye contact, and mouthing “I’ll be right there”! She seated me and took my order. I am so full from a generous sized Gyros! Complete with red onion, tomatoes and amazing tzatziki sauce! I spoke to Steve the GM/manager. He was fantastic and really supported his server for this shift. I watched them as they were in constant silent communication with one another. They supported all of the customers with such grace and kind flow that a restaurant can have or not have. It’s always a pleasure to eat somewhere, that the staff and leadership care about their mission! Great job Greek Palace! My suggestion is to never let one server that cares more about her phone and texting than doing her job, as she tarnished your reputation. I frequent restaurants 4/5 days a week. 2 years of not having me dine at your place is over a 100 tickets you aren't collecting? Thats just me, one client. How many others are you missing? Keep up the good work! Your back in my weekly...
