In March, I went to Michaels to have a piece of art framed. It was a relatively large piece (2'x4'). I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted other than simply a rustic frame that would match the tone and vibe of the art itself. Michelle began helping me and we found four options that were possibilities; we quickly narrowed it to three. In the meantime, another customer had come up and I asked if she would mind sharing her opinions on which frame looked best. She enthusiastically agreed and then asked if I would mind looking at the matting and frame she had previously selected for a piece of original art that her mother-in-law had painted which wasn't yet framed. Of course, I agreed. Between myself, the Michaels employee, Michelle, and the other customer (I believe named Alana?), we chose the PERFECT frame for my painting and, for her artwork, changed up the matting color to draw out some of the more minor colors in the painting. It was a genuinely helpful experience. I really appreciated how Michelle offered her opinion throughout; she was professional, thoughtful, and genuine. Read moreOkay, I deleted my old reviews because I realized I was dealing with Michaels corporate and Michaels my local store. I love my local Michaels store and would go there for merchandise, framing, and just to wander the aisles. It's clean, and the experiences I have had with the staff in store are wonderful. For example, I had a pick up order in store and didn't realize the canvas were damaged. I called the store and explained. The manager said she remembered talking to me and said she'd get a replacement. Turns out every package she found was damaged the same way. To make it right she took the damaged canvas from the three pack and offered me the best canvases from one pack and then just gave me the other two undamaged canvas from the other 3 pack they had. I said it was okay and that they didn't have to do that and she was like, it's okay, just take the extra. So she not only fixed the problem, but because of her giving me 1 extra canvas, she made it even better. This is why I shop here and spend so much money, the staff and managers try to make good whenthere is a problem. Truly, I would have been satisfied with 3 good canvas, but they added an extra, and while I don't think they could resell it individually, they still didn't have to give it to me. Read moreKudos to "Claire" in the always helpful Peoria AZ Michaels (Lake Pleasant shopping center) picture framing department. I came into the store seeking (unconfidently to find) some thin cut glass to save a solar powered lantern that was wind blown over and cracked a panel. Claire was quick to check the work area and even quicker to cut a perfectly fit piece thus saving the lantern from my garage supply heap. Instead the glass restored the lantern to as good as new. Because of her great service I felt so good and thankful of such a worker who "gets it" that I purchased a frame on the way out to my car. I know this sounds small but it seemed so matter of fact for her to provide something so small but big for me, the customer. For some reason real good every day customer service in businesses has fallen down over the years post COVID times. I was lucky to have Claire happily and professionally assist to solve the problem.
